Heya,
Getting back to Ben, there are a couple of good ways to get from the airport to downtown Portland that don't require a cab ride. Tri-Met is one, as is the Max line (a train basically) that shuttles you into downtown Portland, and right to Pioneer Square. For the motel, we are keeping it economical for everyone, there is a Motel 6 right up from my house (and a short bus/car ride from the sites). Here is the info;

The rooms at this point look like they are going for about 54.00-56.00$ per night for a double bed.

My house is pretty booked up (it went quick!), I would recommend going in on a hotel room just up the street. For other other crash space, many of the Sole Purpose members live for some reason on the outskirts of the PDX area, thus they are a distance from all the activities. I will check into who has other crash space to offer, but the motel would be your best bet. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions, more info to come!

I was wondering how many people, or more specifically rooms, will be occupied by footbag players. I saw on the Motel 6 website that they offer group reservations. I do not know if they offer a discounted rate or not (Red, if the price that you listed is the discounted price, then please forgive my intrusion) but wanted to make sure that we will be needing more than 10 rooms before I contacted them for more information. If you are planning on staying at the motel, please send me a pm or post with your intent. Just trying to get the most of us in one place that I can and for the cheapest rate!

We just recently posted up the announcement for the 2008 US Open, and in a short amount of time I have been flooded with emails (I encourage anyone that has any questions to please give me shout)! This year for a couple of reasons we are looking what may be our highest attendance thus far. It being this early (after posting) I don't want to vouch for everyone I have interacted with without their consent, so if you think you are coming feel free to chime in online. We will start the confirmed list soon methinks, and again feel free to pm me, shoot me an email, or simply give me a call!

looks like I may be driving down Friday morning/early afternoon, hanging out and playing a bit, then take the train back to Seattle that evening. Then Saturday morning start biking down, get there Sunday late afternoon and hang out Sunday afternoon till sometime on Monday when I'll drive back up. Not sure yet, but that's the way it's looking. Who all are arriving Friday and/or leaving on Monday?

I really encourage competing if you can. Two years ago Jorden Moir won the Shred 30 competition and Big 3, and took those titles home! Anyone can compete and win the titles. I have been pretty open about the fact years ago I wanted our event to really be the North American Footbag Championships, but got voted down by powers higher than me (which I greatly respect), they essentially wanted to carry on the name US Championships. This was due to long running tradition, and a more recognizable title for potential sponsors. I very much want Canadians and any other nationality to come to the event and compete though. You can win trophies, medals, money, prizes, and yes, even the titles! Most importantly it's a lot of fun, Portland is a great place to check out. All are welcome!

Team Stanford, Stanford Crew, or Steve's Posse will be there! With uniforms bizzatch! Its going to be an all out showdown, (not really but fun to pretend there is a rivalry)

But really, I can't wait to hang out with Nick and Red. Maybe we can hit up another Dunken Doughnuts and almost kill everyone! Anyways I might be car pooling but I'll post when I know for sure what I am doing.
