Top Player Unwilling
I doubt he saves energy; Vasek really could just play forever. When I saw him at funtastik last summer, he was laying down hungover on the grass for about 2 hours while everyone else warmed up. Someone woke him up about 2 minutes before he was supposed to go on (with a bum ankle), and I watched him warm up with a superfly> whirr> spinning ps whirl or something like that before doing prelims. The guy is unbelievable.

i'm playing around with a periodized training regime this year.

Max, i can totally understand what you mean about crowds. I remember at footjam 05 when everybody just STOPPED what they were doing and made a huge circle around vasek and felix and watched them 2 man it for an hour or so. I remember thinking to my self that it must be really hard to get a good groove on when after every run people start hooting and hollering and applauding and what not.
