Dupuy's Footblog and Regular Ol' blog

Post by snafu1322 »

Ya, So i decided to try out this whole blogging thing.

Basically I ride bikes (mainly my fixie), go to school and a bunch of other shit. i have not played footbag in awhile because i have been unmotivated and have had no one to kick with. I want to, but I'm just lazy.

First blog post. Wooooooooooo?

Haha damn you.

Anyways got some leg overs on my fixie and gonna race in an alley cat this Saturday. I am stoked!

I can't find any of my foot bags to save my life and I really wanna kick.

High school is getting old and can't wait till college. Still need to apply to University of Denver and University of Puget Sound. I got in to Montana State University with 20,000 over 4 years. Wooooo!

Thats it for now.

No u!

Anyways I quit playing WoW and most video games by any means. This is a big thing for me. Over all I am just trying to cut back on computer stuff/being lazy. Gonna start to train hard on my bikes and hitting up gyms and kick more.

Also I'm planning on reading the entire Redwall sires haha. EPIC!

Can't wait for the weekend, as long as it was like the last, plus the possibility of a alley cat race.

Getting super sick of high school and can't wait for college. I'm thinking about taking a year off if any one has any recommendation on what i should do in said time period.

I need to buy some 32 panels I lost mine and I want to kick. sigh.

Other than that I AM STOKED. I leave for Puerto Rico in like 2 weeks, it is gonna be a sick trip and the day after I get back I will be 18! Whooo!

Looking forward to a bike race in 2 weeks. Hopping to win the drawing for a bike, but whatever happens it will be uber fun.

I started playing lacrosse and its a ton of fun. I have wanted to play the last few years but it is not to big in New Mexico. I rolled my ankle and it hurts like a bitch but i can still play.

I'm sick of high school but only have 30 school days to go so i should be able to stick it out then its off to college. I'm still waiting to hear from DU and UPS but am hopeful.

I also learned that i really need to learn to cook. So if anyone has any pro cooking tips post em up.

Last night as i was going to bed I had a lucid dream esk thing. It felt like I had a super strong body high and I was was doing something with my friends but i could not tell what. I felt in control but because of the high feeling i had no idea what i was doing.I then woke up and I could not go back to sleep for the next to hours.

I also got self esteem issues, mostly dealing with people and feeling dumb or embarrassed when i say anything to anyone i don't know very well.

Those are some blurbs. I feel like I am writing like a 10 year old right now but eh.... Thanks for reading if anyone does.

Hey Dupuy,

It's cool to see another bike/footblog. :P I seem to talk way more about bikes than footbag lately, but whatever, this is all about you!

I recommend going straight from highschool to college, if you take that year off you may get comfortable and lose steam. Just commit and giver and soon you'll be done and off to the real world.

But also, as it turns out, college/university is AWESOME! There are no more bullies and everyone (from joe cool to dork mcdweebs) finds people like them to be friends with and have fun.

Also, you'll have a great time at the alleycat, I've found that the kind of people I've met at them has been a really great and supportive crowd. Just promise you'll wear a helmet, the race will make you ride way more dangerous, reckless and stupid than ever and there is nothing lamer than being dead so just wear one!!

Is the fixed gear scene big in New Mexico?

see now, i had a very different experience. in high school i was a C+ to B+ student, with the exception of art and english. As i was approaching the end of my final year of high school i was feeling burnt out on the whole educational setting, and i had no idea what i wanted to study once in university. I took a year off. i worked, i played savage amounts of footbag (back in 6 hour per day training sessions) and i travelled a whole bunch. At the end of that year i had come to realize the things i would need, and the things i didn't want in a career setting (no desk job, not working with kids or the elderly, work with my hands, be physicaly active, flexible hours, the ability to travel, etc.) but i still hadn't figured out exactly what i wanted. i took a second year off. i worked, i played savage amounts of hackey, i travelled a bunch. After thinking more about what i wanted and looking over alot of university information i found a path that would lead me to what i wanted. I entered university, extremely motivated, and i excelled at all my course work. after 3 years i still have an A+ average and one of the highest GPA's at the university. So to answer your question as to what to do during a year off: work, play savage amounts of hackey, ride your bikes like all get out, travel a bunch, and think about what you will need to be happy in the future. As to whether you should take a year off or not, it probably depends on your mentality coming out of highschool. after high school i partied like crazy and got most of that out of my system for when university rolled around.

i'm also stoked to see another bike/bag blog. i can't wait for the snow to clear out a bit more so i can ride again! Hope you have fun in the alley cat! I've been wanting to do one, but i don't know how to find about them here in winnipeg. i've seen flyers posted, and i always get really excited, but upon reading them they were like a week before hand or something.
i can see this being another blog i'll be checking frequently.

If you take time off, don't waste away or end up in a rut job. You can take time off, but doing active things like traveling or trying diverse things is good. I took half a year off after HS and it was good. I was so tired after not doing anything for half a year and just working and wasting my brain at a stupid job that I was all over school. Having taken time off after college too - I know you have to be involved in stuff, and not let it go on too long, unless you're doing non-job but otherwise things that are progressing in life. You don't need more than 3 months doing nothing. hope this helps.

Mosher the fixed gear scene in New Mexico is pretty good at least a Race once a month and group rides every . This will be my second alley cat and a helmet is a no brainier.

Mosher, Andrew and all bikers go to bikeforums.net and check out the Single Speed Fixed Gear section lots of info, rides and races and people to point you to forums specific to cities.

Thanks for the the advice on college and what not. Right now I plan on going straight to college, but if i change my mind I want to spend a few months in Japan, Spain, England, or somewhere in South America then visit people in the US and Canada. Right now I'm not to burnt out on school.

So no luck in the Alley Cat. I got DQ'd because i lost my crayon and could not find what i needed at the last stop. I needed the crayon to rub off a word from a label from a label maker onto a piece of paper. Oh well better luck next time. Still happy I fished in the middle of the pack considering how lazy i have been lately.

Got denied from DU which was a shock. Wanted to go there the most but oh well, I'm over it. Still waiting to hear from U of Puget Sound and I will remain hopeful.

Almost forgot

Puerto Rico on the 15th and I'm 18 on the 22nd and like 47 days till graduation. woooooo!

Puerto Rico was awesome. I'll post up some pics when i have the time/not lazy.

I was sick on my 18th birthday, but oh well.

Lacrosse is awesome.

I just found my footbag and I am gonna try and kick tomorrow for an hour or two since my last class is at 10:25 and I don't have lacrosse till 3:30.

2 alley cats in the next few weeks and graduation from high school soon after. Uhh ya, just some blurbs, time for z's.

Thanks guys and it is in Tacoma. It is a 30-35 mile ride so no biggie, or even a bus ride.

I'll drop you call when I get to school.

Just kicked for about 30 minutes, the most I have on months and I am a lot worse than I was, so that puts me at extremely terrible. So i need to work my self back up to bad haha.

I still can hit almost everything that I used to be able to hit strong side. Everything but pixies and mirages I think. M weak side is terrible. I can hit toes, insides, and the occasional clipper. I am gonna try and kick 30 minutes every day and see how that goes.

If any one has any drills, routines, or whatever i can do to help me just have the basics on lock that would be awesome.

Long story short, due to some adjustment issues and some medical problems with my family I have returned to Albuquerque from UPS.

I planned on riding 30+ miles a day, kicking for 2 or 3 hours, climbing for 2 hours a few times a week, maybe some slack lining in there too and take a few classes at UNM. But working on the roof yesterday i decided it would be a good idea to fall off and land on my ankle. Then i had my mom drive me to the ER to find out that i have a bad sprain and have to keep off the foot for 6 weeks. Was only in the er for 2 hours though. Still going to take a few 8 week classes, but everything else is out the window for now.

My ankle is very sore and very tender and I am very bummed out.
