Hey Paul!

When I was visiting Nick, he had to make sure that I remembered heading back to his place with you and Alex! It was a blast last year and I am planning on heading down again this year. But I need to see what happens with Worlds. If I go to worlds I may not be able to afford heading to Mtl in June. I hope you still have a crazy selection of yo-yo tricks!

I hope you had a blast at GRASS this year.

I just had the best session of my life last night.

I hit my first tripless sick 3 and also hit my first 5 add! FUCK YEAH!

My 5 was fairy ducking opp osis. I hit it on film too! The first time I hit it, I had my digi cam set up and thought I was recording, but it turns out I just took a flashless pic.... I was pissed. I hit the move and then said FUCK YEAH! Went to check out my form and how it looked and was wondering what the fuck was wrong with my camera. But I tried again and hit it again. I think I hit it 5 times yesterday.

My tripless sick three was fairy butter>rip>rip>handcatch!

Fuck yeah, go footbag go!

Props on the great session! Ducking fairy can be hard, the only thing I have hit from it is butterfly.

Also, the bag I got from you is on of my favorites right now. It plays really nice!

Had a 2 hr drill session last night.

Fun stuff.

Drills:
-20 lo>lo
-20 contacts pu>mirage
-10 ss clip bs
-20 alt clip
-completed level 8 tri force (72 consec clips)
-21 infinity
-20 osis>osis
-20 contacts clip>ssosis>opp clip>ss osis>rpt

Did a bunch of pixie and fairy to hand catches and some blurs, fear and a few smears.

WELL! I had my first outdoor sessio nof the year yesterday! It was only -1 with almost no wind and sunny, so it felt like it was blistering hot (felt like 3 or 4)!

1.5 hrs of minimal drills and shred fun. I am so happy that I can now bust out teh T-Shirt and shorts! Today will be +3! I can't wait!

Drilled toe whirls, a few drifters but mostly trying to improve run length.

I am also trying to dial in my sets.

Spring has sprung in the Arctic.

HORRAY!

it always amazes me to see how truly different the climates are between us, the last month or so its been between 10 and 25, not getting below 5 id say

we were too chicken to play outside until it reached about 8 or 9 though

Hey Paul, if you were up here for the winter, with an average temp of about -30 celcius, you would be busting out the shorts too! But you have to remember that -25 here is very different than -25 in ontario or quebec.

We have almost zero humidity in the winter and you can really feel the sun in the spring/summer.

So, had another nice 1.5 almost two hours session last night. Spent about 45 mins on strong side swirl and even tried a few ripsteins! I know...... Basics first blah blah blah. But I just wanted to see if it will ever be possible for me, and I believe it will! But I have to work on my flip swirls first. I hit a bunch up time with large windows, and a buch down time with small windows. Really fun. But I got a few muscle cramps in new spots and I was really focusing on dexing after the set with my claf or as above my ankle as possible. I also noticed that if I exagerate the clipper position required for stepping it really really helps.

I did a buch of pixies and fairies. Wokring on my flip, which is really slow work. But am keeping at it. I was in a real slump after I posted my first 5 and my 4>4>4. I felt like I was wasting my time and was not progressing.

The sun does wonders for motivation.

Will play for at least another hours after work.

PS: I set up in the Legislative parking lot. I brought my works big puch broom and only cleared out the visitors parking spot. I bet the MP's and premier are wondering why the visitors spot gets cleaned first. It's b/c of footbag my representitives, because of footbag.

So had another session outside again. I love it. The sun, the wind, the grip!

So that makes it 4 days in a row! Also, after each session, I had BBQ! Yum. Except day 1, I had chicken fajitas. Day 2 was pig ribs with Dianna sauce (honey garlic), day 3 was angus beef steaks, and last night was hamburgers. Oh man am I in love with the lack of minus forty weather. I also saw the first black fly of the year yesterday.

Last nights session was only an hour but it was pretty good. Still just hitting the basics and doing repeat drills. Also working really hard on strong swirls and alternating pixies and fairies.

Ended up hitting like 8 pixie >opp toe>pixie>opp toe as a high but did about 50 in all. It is really weird that pixies came out of nowhere really. Trying to deepen my fairies too with varied results. I try to point my toes a tiny bit out so that when I go for teh dex, I have to adjust the angle of my foot first, thereby deepening the dex.

Also still fucking around with ripstein, strong side. Getting closer. It is also dramatically improving my swirls.

Next session hopefully today if the weather holds up. It is getting a bit chilly and cloudy, not to mention a bit windy. Will start with basics and then drill pixies and fairies. Holding off on stepping since I have that uptime set a bit more locked in.

TO DO's:
-toe whirls
-drifters
-illusions
-ducking clips

So still playing everyday except for Friday.

I am getting a little more consistent with pixies and fairies both sides. Stepping seems to have dissapeared though.....

I think I need to take a break soon. Footbag is seriously all that I think about and eats most of my work days away daydreaming. I think I need to go to rehab or something.

Also, with all this pondering and stuff, and daily shred, you would think that there would be dramatic improvements in my game, but I feel like I am stuck at this level and may be stuck here forever.

No new highlights. Doing drills of tiltless and sets. Blah.

Footbag is getting less fun, but it still is what I love to do.

NEED HELP PROGRESSING!

you are really doing exactly what you need to do to get better. nothing beats working on what you can do already to help you get better.

if you spend most of your time schooling concepts that you can do now, ones youve never tried before will all of a sudden become doable.

for instance, schooling fast low pixies and high atomic sets will lead to sailing set

or for another example neo set (inside set fairy) was what enabled me to learn nuclear set.

another example, drifters and torques come after quick, downtime mirages become easy. (obviously solid clippers and osii are a must as well)

anyway i could list footbag stepping stones forever

everyone goes through periods where they feel they arent progressing, just remember, if your tricks are becoming more consistant, and your strings are becoming longer (even if its slow) you are still progressing for sure.

basically as long as you continue to play youll keep getting better. also bear in mind that youll see a lot less progression than others will see in your own game. its like looking in the mirror everyday and not seeing a change but when someone else sees you they are all "youve changed so much since i last saw you!" yadda yadda.

Hey Manna! I wish I could. If you help me find a job in my field that pays reasonably well and I would be right on that!

And Paul, thank you fo rthe reassuring words. It really helped me to rethink my footbag funky feelings right now.

I had another 1.5 hr session last night. All basics with a few strings attached.

A little drill that I have been favoring lately:
inside>ssclip>ssinside>opp inside>ssclip>ssinside>rpt.

Been getting about 30-40 contacts of this with each set at teh exact same place, very vertical with minimal horizontal movement.

Also drilling the clips too much. I usually get around 100 clip>oppclip in each session(total, with an average of around 20 contacts), but 25 was my high yesterday. 17 butter was the high yesterday as well. But I think the slow timing of the clipper drills I have been doing has totally erased my ability to step.

I really want to focus the next week or two on toe tiltless and toe sets. Then I will hit up the steps again.

Pixie>opp toe>pixie>rpt and the fairy version are taking about 20-30 mins of each session. I should do the same for atws and illsuions but I always forget to throw those in there. However, mirages, lo's and pu's are always present. I ususally get around 20 contacts of each. But my current personal best of mirages are 38 flip and 45 strong. LO's and PU's are in the high 20's somewhere with an average of about 20.

I guess after I get my toe stuff down, I will then move onto swirls and whirls. After that, drifters and then finally back to stepping. I think I will get back to the first drill that helped me learn to step which was butter>near mirage>lo>rpt and then do about 100 ss butters and ss clips each session when drilling stepping again.

Well that ends this post.

Thanks for the comments guys. Spring time kicks some ass.

So had a few sessions over teh May 24 weekend.

Nothing great to report. .But I have been working on runs and suck. Also toe whirls.

One new component added though, and out of nowhere. Strong atomic! WTF!? Flip side feels weird and needs alot of work. But felt good knowing it is almost there.

Also, steeping came back for like 30 mins! Blur, ripwalk, step same mirage bs.

Also tried some far swirls. Swirls need some more work.

I need to start stiching like mad soon. Got a few orders lined up and need to make some headway.

Will play today if it is not -5 and not raining.

Fuck, it has been snowing off and on here the last two days.......

I have not played since wednesday and that was only for 45 mins, but it was a fun session.

I was out hunting for geese last friday and saturday and shot my first goose. It was a canadian goose. I shot it from about 300-400 yards away with a 22-250 heavy barrel. It was great. My buddies also got a few but got them with shot guns. Semi auto, crazy!

Anywho, Wednesday was a little fun, ended up footing butter swirl and ripstein! Also hit a few atomic strong side and super close to quantum flip! So close, yet so far and ahead of where I should be focusing my efforts. It is crazy that pixies are now really moving along both sides.

Illusions are getting better too. I think it is b/c I have watched that quiet night video of vasek, lon smith and pete irish. Lon's illusions in that are exactly what I needed to see and emulate so that they can become a stronger component in my game.

Have not been drilling like I want to though. But I had 16 contacts of lo>illusion and 12 contacts of butter>pdx illusion>rpt. The lo>illusions are really helping with all my toe moves b/c I really focus on the set being right in the middle.

Also, first try, ended up hitting 35 lo>lo, 28 pu>pu, and a bunch of other crap.

Ahhh, I hope the weather gets better so that I can shred.

My 26th B-Day on Monday. I feel like an old man. HA!

Had my first session as an old man, 26. It was also my first session in like a week and only my second session in two weeks..... And it only lasted about 45 mins.

Fuck, it has been snowing and windy and rainy and hailing and sunny. It is messed up.

Anywho, mostly worked on illusions, lo, pu and butter.

Hit 20 lo>lo first try, then like 15-20 contacts of pu>mirage, 15 or so contacts of lo>illsion.

Getting back in shape so that I can film some entries for the online funtime. When someone called the online comps ONLINE FUNTIME, I actually laughed out loud and still think it is funny.

Anywho, my main highlights are the illusions and stuff. Also hit 20 contacts of butter>pdx mirage. Then hit about 8 contacts of butter>pdx illusion. 20 butter>butter. 15 alternating clips.

Hope to play again tonight. Will even go to the gym if I have to.

Also need to work on some footbags. Getting lazy.

Work plan:
100's of lo>illusion
drifter
alternating pixie and fairy
swirls
toe whirls
flip datw
stitch

Wow, long time since I wrote in here.

Life is pretty fucked but footbag is good.

Can't wait for Hackrifice!

Playing about 2-4 times a week anywhere between 45mins to 1.5 hrs a session. Love it. Getting more consistent with tricks already known, but not making much headway on newer stuff.

Recent highlights:
3 rips b2b
24 contacts butter>pdx mirage
18 contacts butter>pdx illusion
28 contacts pu>mirage
24 contacts lo>illusion
30 clip>clip with plants and without
pixie op osis>ripwalk
fairy and pixie practice

Also footed dyno last night! SaWeet! Also footed ripstien a few times but have not tried for about a month.

Really need to drill the shit out of flip whirls, drifters and swirls. Then i will be happy.

In other great news, Adrienne is sending me a pair of climas! I can't wait t try them out. I made it into the territorial paper with almost a full page pic of me playing footbag. But I can't link it b/c it costs $ to get their paper online. It mentioned freestyle footbagger and an upcomming tournament in Winnipeg.

Peace out all, never give up.
