ha that's great, Doug. Ducking flapper b2b. We need to do that and get in on film this summer. Most definitely.

I expect you and Ian to at least consider making a trip over to Siena to hack with me. It's a bit of a drive. And there's no Wegmans. But uh. . . Wii?

Haha, I'll try and get it on tape next time im messin around in socks. I'd like to go to Sienna but it's a little too much driving what with T.O. Jam next weekend and all. Yo, but if you get back in time for T.O. Jam I'd be happy to drive you. Im already driving Ian and maybe Chris.

Yeah, so first session with Ian who just got back yesterday. Twas mucho funo (Sorry to any Latino people who might read my blog...). My game was okay, I had some solid strings, some cool links, and cool tricks and whatnot. Ian's game is lookin a lot more consistent than before. Some solid tiltless strings with some 3-adds thrown in the mix. It looks like he's really dialed his strong fairy set. Lots of fears, flos and fairy op pickups. I really hope he works on flip fairy so he can get a nice fairy shuffle going. As for me, my main highlights were:

-flip smoke
-atomsmasher bsos

I was so happy about the atomsmasher bsos. I think I mighta figured out a good way to atomic on my "flip" which is kinda better than my strong. Meh, Idk. Anyhway, I should shower soon. Lilac festival later tontie. Many a hackey slacker of whom I shall crush their dream of being the best hacker in the world.

Canal Session:

-ss butter>osis>pdx mirage>rpt x17 (51 contacts)
-gyro mirage bsos alot

Thats about it. I love playing by the canal. I wasnt sure if I was gonna play seeing as how I was busy until 4:30 or so, but then I looked outside and noticed the temperature was in the low 70's so I couldnt pass up such a generous opportunity. I feel like Im making so much more progress in the past 2 weeks than I have all year so far. Haha, guess that makes sense tho seeing as how theres no skool and Im all stress free.

So yea, TO Jam.

Really cool event. I wish I had the motivation to do a write-up but I suck at summarizing events and whatnot, so I'll just write whatever comes to mind.

So, 3:30pm Friday. Im about to leave and right before I do my dad feels it necessary to explain to me just how confusing it is trying to cross the border. Basically he tried to show me where to take an exit after crossing a bridge and when I looked at the directions I printed out, I didnt even end up using his route. Whatev. So, about 4 I take off and pick up Ian and decide to stop at the bank to get some moolah for the weekend. We're driving there and suddenly I start thinking about how my feet feel and then I realize, "lavers...." I FORGOT MY LAVERS AT HOME! I dont know how I could possiby forget what is perhaps the most important tool necessary to playing footbag . Luckily we hadnt gone far so I was able to go back and pick them up. SO we eventually get all that done and then pick up THE Chris Dean and head for Canada.

The ride there was pretty uneventful, standard 3 hour car ride. Customs didnt give us much trouble. Only thing was that when the dude asked me where we live I replied, "America.... Oh, Im sorry, I mean the United States."  Yeah, he meant city and state specifically, ha. Idk, I get nervous when I talk to authority figures.

Anywho, we finally arrive to the city and drive in circles until we find the shred spot and a nearby parking spot that blatantly says "NO parking" and we blatantly disobeyed it. :P We meet up and exchange salutations with everyone. It was so awkward not knowing anyone. It was a relief when I finally saw Matt Cross, and that made me feel a little more comfortable. Ian and I started kicking with these two guys Josh and Joel who turned out to be brothers. They were both really chill guys. Then these two guys, Danny and Sam joined our circle. Danny's only been playing for about 3 months and he was already hitting like 15 contact tiltless strings consistently. Idk how all these newer players are advancing so quickly, I couldnt string over 5 contacts for like 6 months or something.

So yea, we were the last circle kicking until everyone decided they were hungary and wanted to go eat but no one could make a decision on where to eat so we just stood there for about half an hour until finally Matt Cross and Tom Mosher just started walking away and everyone just kinda followed them. Idk what happened to everyone but after we stopped by the car and caught up with who we saw there only about 10 of us. Our group decided to eat at subway and I was finally able to use my $10 Canadian bill! I had that thing in my pocket for over a year! The top was al shredded up and everything, I was happy the cashier accepted it.... It was really cool hearing what Penske had to say about footbag and stuff since he was eating with us. He has such a different mindset than Dave or Jorden or any of those guys. He's so chill and all about having fun and stuff.

We finished up there then Ian, Chris and I decided to meet up with Mike and company at the bar Shoeless Joes (interesting name for a footbag event...). I figured I woudnt drink since I was driving and since I ended up driving all weekend I consequently ended up not drinking all weekend. Aw well. There are many a more trip to Canada to be had. After we finished up at the bar I ended up shoving 8 people and all their luggage into my toyata highlander. There can only be one! It was a fun drive back to Mike's what with Johnny and his girlfriend, Richelle squished in the trunk and all the interesting things Richelle would say whenever I stopped, accelerated or went over a bump or anything.

When we finally got back to Mike's we decided to watch some shred videos. So Mike put Champions League on the tv and then someone mentioned Jon Haber's routine at Worlds so we looked that up on youtube. I think Mike pointed out how it was funny that there was such epic shred happening on the big tv and instead of watching that we were all huddled around his laptop watching Jon Haber hit about 10 footbag tricks total, with about 4 of them being whirls. We then watched some shred from BOTS which I still really wanna see in its entirety and then finally decided to call it a night.

I'll try and write about the tournament and junk later but I suck at picking up where I left off so just in case...

-lots of fun shredding with everyone
-I hate competing even though I somehow managed 2nd
-Sam Neil and I have ridiculously similar move selection, hes just a little bit better than me. Cool guy too.
-Final circle was N-A-S-T-Y. Jordens last run=reeeeeediculous
-Leaving to see if my car got ticketed and getting locked out when I return
-Mikes such a cool guy for letting me back in
-Leaving the road in an unorthodox manner (I hope I dont get in trouble for that....)
-meeting Paul Danger Toews, such a cool guy!
-walkin around with Ben, Jay, Ian, and an inebriated Zach Forth who's antics go unmatched
-goin back to Mike's and playin GTA 4 with Ian
-finally falling asleep only to be awaked seconds later by an inebriated Chris Dean
-shootin the shit with Chris until we decide to call it a night
-saying peace to everyone Sunday
-baconator on the way home, totally hit the spot
-that customs whore, footbag's a sport bitch!
-packing my car with more people than seats ALL weekend

All in all a really fun weekend. Ive been playin everyday since Friday and I feel like its really paying off. I wanna be good by the end of summer. Anywho, I honestly did not expect to write as much as I did seeing as how I was tired when I started this post but whatev. Props to anyone who reads any of that shizz and sorry for any poor grammar and whatnot, Im too tired to edit.

Peace

So who should happen to text me this morning (technically afternoon but I didnt get up til 11:30) but Ian Pfsmith. The text read something like "Guess what? Too late, 50 tiltless, byeeeeeeeah!" give or take a word or two. SO naturally I call him up, not to congratulate, but to sass for not calling me up to shred. So I go over to Ians and we have a session. Ian hit a bunch of shizz that he mentions in his blog and here are my main highlights:

-dyno>drifter>drifter>rpt
-torque>infinty>rpt
-whirl x10 (first whirl was from toe)
-flip whirl x7 or something
-consistent pdx whirl strong side

There was some other junk but that was mostly it. I keep telling myself not to post highlights but I was just so excited about the dyno/drifter drill and the torque bsos thing. So yeah, footbag is still fun every once in a while when Im not suckin it up at an RFA session or down in Syracuse. Aw well.

I got a new comment while playing today:
Little kid talking to his dad-"Make him stop!"
It was funny cuz I was pretty on today so when the kid saw me, he witnessed me hit one really long string ending in a handcatch, and then about 15 or so contacts into my next string, he stated the comment above.

I had a long write-up about why Ive been so dejected and shit lately, but I figured this is a footbag forum, not some stupid fucking journal. Besides, footbag is about the only thing that makes me happy right now, and I dont wanna mix that with despair.

Hey thanx Pete, and yeah things are slowly getting better.

So yesterday I had a session with Pat and Ben. Twas meh at first, but once the rain cleared up it got better. See, yesterday was Pittsford Pride or something, and that entails a festival behind the library in the parking lot (its a pretty big parking lot so there were a bunch of stands with different foods and a bunch of rides for kids and junk). Now I had no idea that the festival thing was happening that day so I just told Pat and Ben to meet me at the canal, which they arrived to first, and ended up calling me and telling me about it.

Anyway, that didnt impede us from playing b/c the festival wasnt in our spot. However, once the rain stopped, it worked out well that there was a festival bc we ended up going up to the parking lot and playing near a stage where there were a few bands playing music.

Now the whole reason I wrote that out is because I filmed yesterday. However, I only filmed the first part of the session down by the canal, and none of us were playing all that spectacular. I still made the video, but I want it to be known that we all played much better up near the stage and this video really doesnt do any of us justice. Anyway, I put together cuz I hadnt editted anything in a long while and really wanted to so, voila  :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dERh2lmG8w

EDIT: New youtube link, slightly better quality, probably not worth the 4 hour wait, or however long it took while I was at work.

   oh my god! Dude so many people need to see this video.

but yeah. I kinda wish it didn't get online at the same time. BUT
 good song
 good editing
 I got a slow-mo. . . but we won't tell people I was trying vortex > tomahawk > ? later in the day. Because that'd make me look like I play footbag well. Pff.

great stuff. I really enjoyed that day. And it only took a crepe and a shot of energy to get me back up to par!

WATCH THIS VIDEO! We had fun. We'll do more. Let's pioneer the whole "goof off at sessions on video" thing. I think people will laugh.

Haha, Im glad you guys enjoyed the video, despite the horrible quality. However, just so ya'l know I posted a slightly better quality version.... Come to think of it, it doesnt really matter seeing as how we were all pretty off during the filming stage... but it took a LONG freakin time to upload the higher quality version, SO WATCH IT!

8) thanks, Pete. We used your bag for a bit of the second, better half of the session. Till the ground dried and I had a crepe in me.
