Pretty much any of the next 4 weekends are good for me.... say the word and say it fast.. otherwise I'll show up unexpectedly on your doorstep and demand answers on the question of what the hell you mean when you say that you've found a new use of the word 'crap' after hanging out with me!!!

(In case this has gone unnoticed, then this post is in fact a plea, a begging, a longing for you to show me a sign of footbag-affection and let me know when you have time for me to come up and kick!)

Unfortunately, that guy clearly doesn't know what he's talking about because he was shitting on Adventures in Babyland Park. At least he said that Smurf Rescue is the happiest game ever. At the end he showed clips of some of the games that are (actually) good (unlike the ones I played when I was 6 and am still attached to) but didn't feature them.

I'm sorry to say that no, I haven't been kicking at all. Or working out. Or doing much of anything. I'm in school and have a very demanding class (senior seminar), one that's medium-hard, and a third class that is easy. It's my way of justifying not playing footbag recently, but I know it's not really a good excuse.

To counteract my lazy tendencies I just signed up for a bellydancing class (works the abs really well) and an intermediate core muscles work out class. And Dustin, the two other guys that are still learning and I are working on a kick schedule for the quarter right now, but we're still waiting on one guy's schedule. So it's in the works, but for right now, I'm totally lazy and rusty. Even for me.

I don't know that anyone can kick the laziness out of me right now, but when you visit I will shower you with footbag-affection in the form of "New trick? That's great, now do it on the other side"

Keep in mind, this will only be for your benefit, I get no pleasure out of it.

I'll request off work for the next weekend they'll allow (which won't be this weekend or a week from it, but maybe the one after that) so you can come VISIT ME!!!!!! Yay!

Sweet... can't wait for some FLIPSIDE shouting in my ear... when my sis isn't around to do it, I definitely need someone else to do it!!

Yeah... that'll be good!! But I warn you.. I AM actually gonna kick the lazyness out of you, cause at the moment I'm shredding about 5 times a week, so I'm in a good shape and want to see you breaking a sweat so you'll be crying like a baby whining "no more, please, no more", and at that point I'll find some way of kicking you back up and making you shred even harder. But bear in mind, that this will be done in a true act of selflessness, as I won't get anything out it whatsoever, but I'll know that it's for your best!!

Anne is going to make good on her threat. She and I decided at 9pm today that she's going to come up from LA to visit tomorrow. I don't know how long she's going to be here, but she's getting up at 5am tomorrow morning to start her trip up!

P.S. Anne, to fight your anti-laziness campaigns I'm going to make you drink margaritas and eat Twinkies. After that, there's no way you'll feel like playing. There's more, too. Just tell your sister and Asmus not to yell at me if I ruin you for footbag forever during the next few days.

I have not been playing footbag very regularly since late March. I know I'll regret it in a few weekends at the Green Cup (especially since Oxana is attending

), but I'm still okay with that choice right now. I think the GC will be my last big tournament for a long time-- probably until NYJ.

I'm in school for another full year, but I'm in my senior seminar class right now. The topic of the class is "Communities," and each person has to write a 15-18 page research paper on a community. I used to dislike writing papers about footbag because... what could I really get across about footbag in only 5 pages? Writing a long paper in which I can discuss the social aspects of the footbag community, the part I like the most, is so satisfying. Anthropology is the coolest. This paper could realisticly be a 35 page paper before I would be satisfied with it... as it is, I've written 23 pages which has to be trimmed down to 18.

In general life is stable and fine.

My favorite new person on Modified is Manna.

Two sessions ago I think I had a first in my footbag career. I had to play with no socks. The idea of playing in lavers with no socks was so awful to me... but it was always fine because even if I forgot socks I could borrow someone else's. Not this time, and yep, it sucks as much as I thought it did.

Last session was with Dustin and Jacob. Jacob hit clipper bsos (for the first time?) and inside stall>inside stall x4 contacts.

In other news, I'm usually good with sunscreen, but last weekend I got a bad enough sun burn that my entire face is now falling off. It's kind of . . . totally gross.

I was thinking about posting a picture of leprosy with a caption of "Welcome to California, this is what you'll look like if you don't wear sunscreen."

Surprisingly, I found no funny pictures of leprosy. Now I just feel bad.

The 2008 Green Cup

This event was different for me than others. I'm not sure how to explain it, or if it's even worth trying.

I was going to do a write-up but I don't think I have it in me to write up the stories for you.

I do have strong memories from different little sections of the event, so maybe I'll just post those so I'll have them to look back on later.

-I was able to get enough prizes: enough that not only everyone who placed, but everyone who was in any of the 5 competitions got a prize. Awesome. Sponsorship worked really well. Kolo donated over $300 worth of stuff, planet footbag donated a ton as well, and Freedom Footbags donated a pair of new quantums, plus $45 and $25 vouchers for their store. Two stitchers donated two bags and we even received some bags from other countries. It was great for the competitors.
-I like waking people up, or at least threatening to do it in horrible ways.
-Frank the Tank
-Pizza party at Steve's
-Cowboy hat: compliments, shred
-Girl circle
-Ahren and Tu
-Watching a circle with Tu, Red, and Sean Wingert. Cool.
-Big shred by top 3.
-Dustin holding it down
-Burrito place
-Fletch came to visit
-Hot tub every night! This should be a requirement for every footbag event.
-Quality time with an old friend
-Awesome Anne Thygesen! She's one of the people I've connected most easily with in footbag, and she happens to be a girl. Of course she lives in a different country.

By the way, Anne, your hard work in footbag is really paying off.

-Red Husted, the tournament director in a can.
-Cale's nasty foot but sweet footbags. 83?

-Seeing people get too stoned to be able to function or hang out is always a little disappointing at events because the weekend already feels so short to me. I kind of wish people would save that for an evening activity, like most people do with drinking. God knows I'm not judging people for smoking; it's just that I'm greedy and want to be able to hang out with people as much as possible during events.

-Played net with Dirk against Rob Creel and David Bouchard. Man, I don't know if I've ever lost anything so badly in my life, but I had a ton of fun and David gave me some good tips.
-Monday night party with the net players. I don't know if it's Chaos or net players in general, but they are a fun crowd to party with.
-Great directions to the park on Monday, I actually knew where I was going by sight without having been there before. That's a first. Thank you new feature on Google maps. A bit creepy, but amazing.
-The way Cory Current tried to convince me to come to the Chicago event in a few weeks.

-Introducing myself to someone I had already met TWO days earlier. I reintroduce myself to someone at some point during at least 80% of the events I go to. And I "introduced" myself this time because I was 100% sure I had not met this guy yet. Damn it.

-Rob's closing remark.
-Long drive home from a long weekend. It didn't feel like it was rushing by at any point, it was amazing.

After an event and I'm back home, I always see footbag players' faces while passing random people on the street. When I first started going to events and this would happen afterwards, it always made me sad because I realized that I wouldn't see that person for months and months if ever again (yes, I'm a pessimist). Now I like that my mind plays that trick on me. It feels familiar and comfortable.

Carol said it was really nice to have the freestyle players around, no matter what the net players said. That made me even more happy when PT said we are more than welcome back next year.

He said I was nice to work with, and I said I hope to ensure some more freestyle/net interaction next year. Some of our freestyle heroes (Kenny, Tuan, etc.) are now net players and it would be great for us to show them support and show up to watch a game or two. Oxana and Rob competed in both freestyle and net. I was the only freestyle player watching the game between Jeremy and Oxana, which was a fun match-up.

Anyway, enough of that.

Yesterday I had my first real net training day with Fletch and Jeremy.

I noticed a disconnect between freestylers and net when I was at funtastik. I noticed that none of the net players watched freestyle, and vice versa (except for finals). I've wondered why it is because I think both are fun to watch.
