Nice little vid Ben.Props on the 4th place too.

How long are your tiltless strings?

Or could you film yourself doing a tiltless string. No offence dude but i think you should work on your basics more, dialing it all especially using flipside.

It will benefit your string lenght too.Dont bother playing guiltless, guilt. You'll be competing in routines one day for sure.l

uh-huh.

 I liked the song
 haze was pretty much in the bag
 you were leaning a bit too far forward for the torque I think
 whirls?
 I'm sure crew and winter lagginess was a factor, but a decent clip nonetheless.

have you stayed in touch with that Robert guy? is he pretty much not risking more injury and staying off his footbag feet?

thanks for making a coment, i didnt want that to go un-commented.

torque is really hard for me and i dont know why...it really shouldnt be.

yea, i just didnt think of any combos with whirls or new tricks with them. maybe after crew today i'll do something for you. like whirl>ripwalk>rpt or something like that.

rob quit footbag im pretty sure....for good.

that was only the second time i footbagged in 3 weeks i think but now im excited to get back into it. especially after hitting that torque, a bunch or flipside pixie stuff, and some clean double dexes. At least my game is going forwards a little bit. I bet after i put a full week of shreding in i'll learn a few new things.

what else do you want to see? I couldnt really think of much.

i want to do Atom>atom
i want to soldify flip atomic
i want to get my quantum set back
i want to hit drifter bs
i want to hit blurry whirl bs
i want to get my double dexes solidified

another thing, i was really close to hitting blurry torque. i tried about ten times and just cut it off there because the same thing kept on happening. i got all the dexes clean, got the spin but it would have been luck if i had stuck it on the osis. i have to turn my head with my body because im trying to watch the bag for way too long. the osis is missing by like 3 inches and it's pissing me off. I'll warm up with some toques today and then try 5 or so blurry ones. the only reason i want to hit it so bad is because in my opinion that would be the first real 6 add i hit. all the others were either not clean or they had reverse whirls in them.

I seem to be pretty both sided in comparison to the past but still it's not good enough.

on flip i need to:

Clean illusion big time
solidify pixie
solidify atomic
hit drifter
hit any double dex and have hit clean
learn flip sailing on spare time

that last one is a stretch at this point and probably wont happen for another 6 months...kind of depressing.

oh well, i have time.

i want to try gromitron...ha. flailing ss symp reverse whirl
tonight I shall hit sailing symp DLO...actually sounds pretty easy.
also going to try and break my whirl>infinity record

edit: in response to the other guys comments. sorry didnt see what you wrote. I wasnt trying to go for long strings, that session was just about getting my body to remember how to do some of the more technical stuff. I also wanted to get some stuff that i said i hit onto the camera for "proof". im not uninterested in filming long tiltless strings but that doesnt mean i dont do them in practice.

Peace.

:P awesome! Can't wait till when I get back in town for good.

blurry torque would be sweet :? I might try that in a little bit when I play. I think I'm ready for at least that.

I wouldn't try blurry torque unless you have pdx torques down really good. And seeing as your learning regular torques, you might throw out your back trying blurry too much.

yea, cant wait to shred with you pat!

i'm glad i did that long blog pst, there was a lot that i needed to say. i would have never remembered it if i hadn't written it.

So i played yesterday but i was really tried from crew practice.

it was kinda shitty but i forced myself to make it not shitty.

i took video but i am reluctant to put it on here because itsjust a bunch of BS. maybe i'll combine it wiht two days so it's not such a POS.

I did hit DLO>same butter>torque which was cool. then a long tilt/guilt string but it was so repetative and stupid and i went of camera for half of it. i probably just wont post the video. It was just a hard day for me because i was tired. oh well, hopefully next session will be better.

Maybe this is stupid but i wanted to make a list of things I did "wrong" in learning this sport.

Let's start from the begining (not in exact chronological order):

I refused to learn flipside toe stalls
I hit mirage before ATW

(with that last one though...I think it could be argued whether or not this is bad or not. According to footbag "standards" it's wrong, but what are the standards really?)

I learned to do toe sets on the outside of my knee instead of infront

(and that still hurts my game to this day, i wish someone had pointed it out earlier insead of over a year into playing)

I was able to do 67/100 mirage attempts before i did my first inside stall

I hit symp mirage before clipper

Through out my career I avoided flipside and now I am finally applying it in everyday game...way too late.

avoided basics like legover, flip mirage, flip butterfly, clippers, whirls, illusions, etc.

No one can do it perfectly though.

Anyone want to be my coach?

I still think you should stop setting to clipper. It just looks weird cause theres no hop. And if theres no hop, its not helping with your clipper form or your string length (because when in a string shouldn't you hop into clipper?) Plus I think butterfly should be emphasized more than clipper. Theres no way to set to butterfly without hopping.

I'm guilty of the same thing sometimes, when trying a more difficult move like blender. I can do blender fine setting straight to clipper but it just hurts me because once in a string it feels different doing it from butterfly.

Regardless, the form in your last vid was looking great! I've never seen an inside pixie paradon.

 I shall be your coach . . .

I think we should be each other's coaches. We both need it.

As for reflecting on what you've been doing wrong for two years; I wouldn't dwell on it. It's good to kind of take a step back and learn from mistakes methodically but I think this game evolves into itself for each player a little more fluidly than some give it credit. Meaning I think even if someone can do loads of mirages and symp mirage before inside stall, two years down the road I don't think it really should be considered as one reason your game could be off.

my opinion is that you are just a really unique player. . . . who needs a solid flip pixie. I really don't see anything where there should be a red flag over the way you play the game. Putting videos out is always risky because you're only letting people see what you want them to see. So they see you hitting some pretty intense things and then others where you're just chillin' and getting in a long string of tiltless/guiltless. They think that's odd and don't get to see the pretty consistent stepping shuffle and ducking and bothsided BOPing I saw you doing the 6 or 7 months.

I think you should take the middle ground with what some people are saying. You should probably consider cutting down on 6 adds, but I know you get bored not at least trying them. So try them. Just don't waste a session on them or anything stupid like that. No, what you should be doing is getting some things regular-like into your game. Some stuff I've always wanted more from you would be:
 gyro mirages
 DLOs from toe and clipper
 pixie shuffle

ya know? nothing huge. Nothing especially too difficult, especially when DLO seems to come pretty natural to you.

oh and I learned butterfly before I could clipper on flip, and illusioned before I could mirage. I think we're all a little strange when we first start out.

hope this helped

Psilocybe,
I think it's more of a preference thing. I really havn't seen or felt any problems from settingstraight to clipper. it's just what i naturally do. I don't think setting from toe will make my game much different. Your the only person that has ever commented on that and i have recieved many many comments. but for you in the next video i will start everything i do from clipper with a toe set and we will see if there is a difference. I'm not saying your wrongi'm just saying different things work for different people.

Pat. thanks for the solid message. It wasn't 'the' at all.

I'm glad we share similar opinions. I agree that 5's and 6's at my level should not be drilled and for everyone who watched my video, im sorry if it came off that way. As i have always said, i think it's healthy to try moves that are slightly above your level because it can show you what you need to work on. like with blurry torque well I can't hit it. possible reasons, i need to work on stepping (unlikely), i need to work on mirages (unlikely), i need to work on osis (possible but probably not the reason), i need to work on spinning (ding ding ding! What i saw is that i need to work on looking away from that bag, i have my head looking around the wrong shoulder and im following the bag too long). so through trying blurry torque i observed what i need to work on, rather than wondering why the hell i can't fix it. as a result it will probably help me with basic spinning moves aswell.

Anyway

I think pixie shuffle is the most crucial aspect of my game right now that needs to be improved. I AM currently pushing it. i drill b2b pixie toe game each session. i have gotten to a point where it's not so frustrating drilling it. that was a huge road block before because when i went some days clearing pixies up to my chest and other days where i couldnt clear a single one, that was just a bitch. I'm excited for it too which is always good.

DLO's, yea, pretty natural, i just have to work on consistency, i'll talk about them a little later in this post.

gyro mirages. kind of random...? But that brings me to my next and most important point:

I NEED MORE VARIETY IN MY STRINGS

okay i'm really sick of doing this kind of shit:

Smear>dimwalk>Diving clip>ducking clip>ripwalk>ripwalk>drop or continue, repeating lots of ripwalks, infinities, stepping moves, and ducking stuff

Seriously, spot on...that is what half of the strings i do start with, exactly that.

Why no atomics? illusions? whirls? DLO's? Spinning? Gyro? DATW's? symp mirages?symple pickups/legovers? ANYTHING!!!!

I am just struggling to be creative and it's pissing me off quite a bit...

help?

You've probably seen this, but I thought it was cool.

As for string creativity, get drifters and toe drifters down, toe whirls, mixing some torques in there, and the 3 types of double downs. What about quantum, I'm just now giving that a try and its totally more fun than pixie, especially toe blur.

Well, there you go, it really was a very good session.

Bunch of BSOS, great strings and a new move.

I was very pleased and I think you will be too. ;)

all the strings have new stuff in them except for one or two.

again, it does not display every concept that I am capable of but it does show what I was focusing on THIS session.

ENJOY!

Edit: sorry about the no sound or music, I hope it doesn't ruin it for you.
