02.July 2006 - Die Lange Nacht des Sports (Long Night of Sports)

Munich-Footbag was represented at the Mï¿½nchner Lange Nacht des Sports
with a 3x3 space, with a TV that showed Shred videos all day, some
Footbags for sale, workshops and demo shows. Everybody showed up
(except for the Landshut people - "Spikehammer" Mike Hemmer, are you
back from Soutgh Afrique??)

We were shredding all day - Bea, Max, Daryl, Toby and me, as well
as Sebastian from Frankfurt, who lives in Munich now! Welcome to
the crew, Sebastian! He had some nice blenders all over the place, and
his style looks so much like Rippin' Rick Reese's, it's scary.

Everybody was playing well, I don't remember anything in particular,
but there was a crowd at our stand all the time, big interest from all
ages.

The best commentaries:

"Ihr soitet's liaba Schuhpladdln!" - (in bavarian accent: You should rather be "Schuhplattling"! (bavarian folk dance)

A guy, after watching scenes of Vasek in "The Move" on the Telly: "...Total uninteressant." and then moving on ("...totally uninteresting.")

"Ah, des kenn I, des is des neie Footbangen!" ("Ah, I know that, it's that
new Footbangin'!")

BTW Max, hast du die Kreide noch?

My legs are sore. But it was big fun.

We're on TV next Saturday on Bayern 3, maybe Max knows more Details
about that, he was interviewed.

I'll come back to Munich on Aug, 31st. 4 weeks with my love, the sun, the sea, coconut palms and thai food!

happy new year everybody!

i had a great time in the past (spending 25 out of 31 days in december
in Thailand..), and now I got 2 jobs and I'm pretty busy making some
money now. I miss footbag and I miss playing with you guys.

Still, I don't think my feet will touch any Lavers or G-Units any soon.

I've been playing footbag (if you add the Hacky-Sack times) for more
than 6 years, and I've had great times. Still, learning the tricks by
myself when there was no modified.org was hard, and over the years
I put way too much stress on my feet because I learnt a couple
of tricks the wrong way (I guess).

I've had a lot of trouble in the past with shin splints, calf pains, knee
pains etc. It's time I give my legs some rest. My joints are just not made
for that kind of extreme stress. My body is more important to me than any sport in the world. That's why I quit footbag (even though I'd love to
just do a clipper right now, for the feel of it..

).

Maybe I'll come around to a gym session soon, I have to see the
progress all of you made. Make a video sometime soon!!!

I'm still reading this blog from time to time to read what all of you
are hitting, so please keep this blog alive!

Shredsession with Daryl, Bea and Max at the Olympiabad.

Long time no play for me, and I was playing in G-Units again
(haven't played in these for more than a year).

Everything went well for me, all the tiltless stuff was still solid,
I had some nice combos, ducking butterx3>run, dpmirage bsos,
almost ducking leg and weaving leg bsos (last weaving leg dropped),
33 osis, and 30+ contacts of far butter>infinity>osis rpt.
all my moves were there like I was playing everyday. Only my
stomach stopped me - I hadn't eaten for several hours, so I had to
cut short on the session.

Daryl, Max and Bea are exploding, it's such a treat to see them play -
especially when you only see them every month or two. Talk about
progress.

What a nice session. Everybody was relaxed and in good form -

Max is shredding harder than ever. His infinities start to become as
relaxed as Ners' infinities - hardly any movement at all

Bea is in great shape - also, her infinities are smooth as nothing and
she's stepping all over the place.

Andy is getting used to the G-Units, and he'll have Mirage down in no time.

Daryl, the unforshreddable. Wicked combos that leave my jaw dropped
and so much energy. How come he never needs a warmup? You're on fire, man!

As for me:
New trick: Pdx Eggbeater
35 infinities
34 contact run
28 walking infinities for 10-15 meters distance
Got the Whirl motion down and hit my first clean whirl ever...
Stepping midrun, ripwalk bsos, it seems I never stopped playing.

It was a great session, we had so many laughs, everybody was so
good today.

Everybody seems to miss Mike, thouh. We never heard from him, but
talk about him nearly every session. Mike, we hope you're well!
Same goes for Philipp "ScheiÃŸ Barfly" Molzahn! I hope you nailed it by now!!

Outdoor Shred Olympiazentrum

Ahh..25 degrees, my first outdoor shred for ages, Daryl, Max and
a lotta fun - what a fun session!

In the beginning everybody was focusing on longer, easier runs.
Later on, everybody went for a mixture of combos and runs.

I finally got the gist of
Swirls and hit a couple out of Ducking Clipper...

Pixie Ducking Legover
Alpine Magellan (2nd time)

Daryl is the Atom-man. He the craziest. Please, combine your two
signature moves (ducking mirage, atomsmasher) and hit
Alpine Atomsmasher for me!!

Max, props for the nice symp mirage>atomsmasher links and the
long, hard runs with more variety than ever! Such a treat watching you.

I was playing relaxed, but pushed myself a bit.

yesterday I had a good session with Toby, whom I hadn't played with for ages. He brought a friend with him, Robin, a nice guy who's been doing
Wu-Shu for years - aside from shredding a bit he showed us some nice
techniques, and I found myself practicing more Wu-Shu than Footbag!

Toby hit a new move and man, he has advanced quite a bit since I last
saw him!! Quite a fun session.

Played really weak, have to get back in shape.

Played in the old botanical garden and in front of the big Opera-O at
Luisenstr.

Lot of tourists stopping, watching, filming. Even Cops. Good vibe.

Gym Session with Andy.

Noone else showed up - nonetheless we had an awesome session!
Normally we have shred circles, but this time it was just one on one,
drilling, learning, and trying some stuff I wouldn't go for in a circle.

Andy hit his first double dex!! Yay!!

For me, my sets were pretty satisfying today. I hit

12+ guiltless with both stepping and pixie bsos
Spinning Clipper both sides
Ducking Clipper>Spinning Clipper
Sidewalk>Shmoe
Atomsmasher
Came close to reverse Whirling Swirl again

Monday Gym Session with Andy and Max.

Very good Session - my stepping set was really good today.

- loads and loads of stepping muted clippers, both sides, and bsos

- long runs, up to 20+ with very few guilts and one tilt (25?)

- Stepping ss Clipper>Ripwalk>butter>butter>flip stepping ss clipper>but>but>flip ripwalk>... (first try)

- One big run with Stepping muted clipper bsos, blur, stepping legover,
ripwalk, ducking butterfly etc.

- Atomic muted clipper>run

- Pixie muted clipper>stepping muted clipper

- some spinning clippers bs

- Spinning Ducking Clipper
