Sorry for taking the top post

pips wrote:Oh yeah...I briefly worked on ripwalk, too. I have never stepped. Is there an easier stepping trick to work on?
Maybe instead of working ripwalk you should work sidewalk and stepping ss clipper. The latter of the two will help get your stepping set to be really clean!

Oh yeah, props on all the highlights!

Something that can help when working on stepping is to always start with a butterfly. it can build momentum. I found it helped me.

crispy DLO, or stepping far legover is in my opinion the easiest of the stepping tricks, and doing steps out of butterfly is definitely the best way to go for sure, until they are very comfortable anyway

Cool. I'll give those tips a shot next time, except I gotta hit DLO first. I'm close. :P

i would say that stepping far legover is a much easier trick than DLO and i learned it way beforehand. i wouldnt wait to try it till after you learn DLO because you've done ripwalk now and in my opinion, its much easier than ripwalk as well.

awesome that you have all your videos up now!

I haven't hit ripwalk, yet. I can show you a quick video of me attempting, but I haven't hit it. And I know I am close to hitting DLO any time now. I think working on regular legovers without that crazy hop I did really helped...and noticing others hitting it in recent videos I have watched. But yeah, I think I will work on either sidewalk or stepping far legover next.

oh my!, i fear i mixed a video of you and taylor up. sidewalk is definitely a good place to start. stepping far legover may be harder than that, and ripwalk even harder.

but i cant say for sure what youll find easiest, i hit ripwalk before the other two because i tried it over and over again until i could so everyone is different.

now im going to go watch your videos and not comment on them in taylors blog

Haha. That's funny. Sorry I missed your post before. I dunno how I did.

I tried to play footbag today with Kayleigh, but she DID NOT want me to play at all. She kept getting in my way and taking my bag away. I think my session lasted like 10 minutes before I quit and took her to a park. We swang (a word of Chrissy's language :P) and went down slides. I taught her how to flip over the bars, too. That was complicated, but she liked it. Haha.

I was gonna work on stepping today, but yeah. Maybe tomorrow after work while my godmother is watching Kayleigh. Yay! I love how my godmother likes to take Kayleigh on Sundays to leave me free for schoolwork or whatever. Too bad she is moving someday, though. :? I'm thinking about following her, though. Or I really dunno.

Moving on to a sadder, non-footbag note...

I still haven't been very happy about my life right now. For some reason my only friend here quit talking to me. I mean...I understand she's having a rough time living on her own or whatever and that she's seeing a new guy, but to completely lose contact with me? Something doesn't make sense. But whatever it is, I have really been thinking about going back to Pa somehow. Having no one at all to hang out with really sucks, and it took me that to realize how much I really do value friends and family in my life. My mom doesn't want to move back to Pa, because it basically sucks, but that is where everyone we know is. No matter what the place is like, I wanna be happy with friends and family instead of being miserable in a so called better place with no one to hang out with to actually enjoy the place. I wish my mom could see that. I really think she's just being stubborn. I dunno. All I know is, is that (despite what I am doing) I hide a lot of my feelings, and I don't let a lot of things get to me, but these things are getting to me, and I can't hold it in much longer...maybe a break down to my mom will get her to move to Pa...

EDIT: And sorry to be so depressing, but it's all I can be right now. I'm usually a happy, little hyper child. I miss her.

I got to play today. Kid-free!

I worked on:

-sidewalk...so close. That is stepping ss butterfly, right?
-dlo...haha. I think I wore my legs out from stepping.
-I did a bunch of clipper things like clipper, ss clipper x2, infinity rpt. Then I added ducking clippers. I ended up hitting 3 ducking clippers in one string a few times.
-Then I worked on clipper-style drifters. For some reason I taught myself them from the toe. Then I saw everyone on the hot drifters contest and David Clavens starting from clipper, going btb. I was like, "And why didn't I realize this before???"

And thank-you Matt Cross and David Clavens for the tutorials if you guys read this. Probably not but whatever. I think three or so of those tutorials have helped me during this session. Keep 'em coming!

Oh. I also worked on the 3 different kinds of clippers that Mitko taught me (butterfly, ducking, and drifter) yesterday. And I also tried the near legovers. Those are strange.

I am loving that I am able to "shred." Like just randomly shred it up. Just the basics so far but yeah. This was one of my biggest goals in footbag...ever, and I am finally reaching it. I loved to watch people just go at it and hoped that I could do the same one day.

I think I might ask for some more challenges soon.

Glad you found the tutorials helpful, that means a lot. Hope to see you out at a jam sometime soon. Props on the progress.

Whew. Haha. Call of Duty 3 on Wii. I'm getting sucked in. I can't use my mouse right from coming back from playing. And everything is flashing. Haha. 8O

It's great to hear that you're reaching your footbag goal.

Don't let the wii steal you from footbag :P

I tried to play some today after work while Kayleigh took her nap. She took a short nap, so I didn't get into it much. Then the little neighbors came out. I taught the older one (like 4 or 5 years old) how to kick the bag. Then all of the kids were playing with my bags. Got them wet, but oh well. It was fun.

Kayleigh and I washed the car today. I think I got my first little tan for the year. My body practically refuses to tan no matter how much I am outside. Even when I get super burnt, my skin peels off to a fresh, new white. Don't know why I shared that, but yep!

I don't know why I haven't been playing footbag lately. It is like I am dismotivated now that I know Kayleigh will take my bags away from me, I do not even try now. Aside from that, I have also been a little busy and not able to find time to play. I am thinking to wake up an hour or so early and play in the mornings before work. We'll see.

kayleigh...I love that name :)

why does she take your bags from you? it sounds cute though, does she hide them?

Dont force yourself to footbag when you dont want to. I think if all you can remember about footbag is unhappy thoughts then you wont want to footbag. So waking up really early wont exactly make you look forward to playing.

just a thought.

Who said I was forcing myself? I want to. We'll see what I think in the mornings, though. I've tried exercising in the mornings before but go right back to sleep, too tired to get up. I guess that was your point. Haha. I'm hoping I can slowly make it a habit, I guess.

I think she takes them away for attention. And when she doesn't take them away, she gives me too many. Haha. I juggle them for her, and she throws more in. I just can't please her. :P
