Thoughts:
1. I agree that Kobe is an all-time great. I definitely think MJ was a better defender. I don't understand how Kobe got a rep as a good defender. MJ had at least 2 seasons with 100+ blocks and 100+ steals, and Kobe hasn't even come close. I know MJ had one season with 200+ steals and 100+ blocks, which is ridiculous for a guard.
2. The reason people hate the Pistons is because they have underachieved every year since 2005. They should have been in the finals last year and the year before, but they seem to lose interest and play down to the level of their opponent when they should be blowing people out in the playoffs.
3. Chris Paul yells at his teammates all the time, but usually it's telling them where to be on the court. That's what good point guards do. Kobe just seems to yell at people because he's annoyed that other people aren't as focused as he is.
4. To me the most entertaining series right now is Hornets v. Spurs. Obviously I want to see the Spurs lose, but beyond that I find it compelling to watch a young team get the jump on an old team. Feels like a changing of the guard.
5. Chris Paul has arguably been the best player in the playoffs so far. LBJ was in the discussion in the first round, but the Celtics have really emasculated him with their D in this round. Kobe has been playing well, but his team hasn't needed him as much as Paul or LeBron.

Despite living in Chicago during MJ and Phil's last years there, I was still kind of young then. Sounds like MJ was a shut down defender, but was he guarding point guards? Kobe can can guard 1-3 and he is bigger than Micheal was, but the players he's guarding have also greatly increased in size since the 90's.

1. Interesting question. It really is hard, if not impossible to compare players from different eras. So much can change between eras (expansion dilutes the talent in the league, rules change, even the value of shots can change), it always ultimately becomes a hypothetical.
2. I feel like the Suns since Barkley has been a few different teams. I think you could argue that the Nash/D'Antoni/Amare Suns were a team, but there's no real continuity between that team and the Marbury/Kidd years.
3. No doubt that CP3 also yells at teammates, and that he has the same competitive fire as Kobe (maybe not as extreme). Paul is just newer and plays in a much smaller media market, so he's not as scrutinized as Kobe for many reasons.
4. Watched the end of the Pistons Magic game which was great. It was interesting though that at the end, none of the Pistons wanted the last shot. Chauncey would have taken it (or created something) had he played, so you can see they really miss him. It was also amazing to me to see Turkoglu drive the lane with under a minute to go. At times like this (and during Game 5 last year against LBJ) you really see they miss having a defensive big man like Ben Wallace in the middle. And what's with all the fourth quarter techs? That's just bad mental game on the part of the players.

i always pick spurs in video games. my friends just think imma asshole cuz they know how the spurs play and i do what ever i can to cheat or force a charge. just like Tim Ducan did tonight.

Wasn't really that dirty... Unsportsman like for sure especially considering the circumstances. I dunno though, that's basketball.
I predicted NO would beat the Spurs and I'm sticking to that. I will also stick by my claim that the Celtic's will lose this round, setting up a rematch of last year's ECF. I kind of want Boston to win though, just because I think Bos/Det would be the better series.
Remember, Detriot/LA was my finals prediction, with Detroit winning out just like in 04. Just reminding you all.

I guess. If you look at his shot percentage and turn overs for the whole series, there's really no one else to blame but Lebron. He took the highest percentage of shots and probably had the lowest field goal percentage of anyone on the team. He stunk it up and it's on him that Boston is moving on.At least LeBron can go home for the summer knowing it wasn't his fault his team lost.
The "non-Lebron's" played really well this series though. Joe Johnson had an incredible game, Gibson knocked down his 3's, West distributed the ball very well, Gordon kept KG in check, Varejoa got his usual stats. Even Szcerbiak started coming on late. The one missing piece was the superstar who was supposed to step in at some point and take over a game. It never happened.
Whatever I'm glad though, it'll make for a more interesting series against the Pistons. I've really been waiting all year for Detriot to demolish Boston in the playoffs just to watch it happen, so I'm excited in that regard.

I can't stand LeBron James. In my eyes, the guy is a Jordan wannabe, but, then again, I guess anyone like that would be considered so. I just don't like the fact that he's wearing someone else's number. And, even though he says he doesn't, he whines too much. He doesn't have to say anything, I can just tell from that stupid look on his face when he gets fouled. Jordan was fouled way worse than James was. Take it like a man! And keep your mom off the court, you crybaby.

Wow, that alley oop from Paul to Chandler was the best of the ones I've seen from them. So beautiful. This game is going to be sick.
Basically, the Cav's should've won this series, and it was Lebron's poor effort that didn't put them over the top. The non-Lebron's gave their usual medicore-decent performance depending on the player and the night, but Lebron just never showed up. The media is trying to make it seem less worse than it was. The Celtics did the thing that the Piston's wouldn't do last year, and that was double him with two bigs.
