David's Footbag Tutorial Videos (clipper, drifter)

Post by david »

Hey guys,

I recently started making tutorials on tricks I feel I am good at and can teach. I really hope you find these tutorials helpful and if you have any idea on how to make them better that would be awesome. If people find them useful I will totally make more.

Here they are:

Clipper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGNJgqmtt4Y
Drifter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mf5uZPBlG9o

Enjoy. Thank you to Mike Toolan for filming.

Thanks for those. I really liked that someone finally gave the "curl your toes" advice. Thats such an important part of clipper. The drifter vid was really helpful to. I would like to see a whirl tutorial vid, and possibly torque.

Thanks again

Perfect timing, I was just starting to get into drifters.

I really liked the Clipper suggestions, I did clipper->clipper slightly different and adopting your hopping back and forth method increased my consistency. It works!

Thank you for the tutorials, and in particular the subtleties.

Clipper: It is great to have this as a both reference and as a reminder for the importance of evaluating my clipper form.

Drifter: The set height and side-side motion seem key. Thank you for pointing out how turning more than a little can make this trick more difficult.

DAMN these are good!

you're really good at explaining.

I like how drifter's name is a hint at how you should approach it. Torque is the same way, I guess.

Make more! :D .I found them very helpfull. I am trying to rework my left clipper which turned from strong to flip because of improper form. A few of the tips made me remember simple things i was forgetting. The drifter was helpful with the jump to the side technique. I realized i only did that for one side and the other was more of a turning motion like you demonstrated.

Whirl would be nice to have a tutorial of as well.

THANKS A LOT DAVID!!

This will help me me with my flip drifter. I was wondering why it felt so slow when i tried to dex...floppy foot!

You're so good at explaining, i remember when you taught me how to do ducking clippers b2b at cornell :)

i've never really tried toe curling on clippers seriously. I do find that they make clippers much easier, i guess i'll just have to start clippering with curled toes and hope it becomes natural quickly.

I don't post much, but after watching the drifter tutorial and attempting some drifters, i hit it on each side after just a handful of attempts, so i felt inclined to post and say thanks for the tips.

I was one of those people who turned way too much on drifters and couldn't understand why i was always late on landing the move. I just started practicing them again this week and was actually tempted to make a video of me attempting drifters to see if i could get some tips. So this video was perfect timing. Thanks alot.

Awesome tutorial David. I really liked the clipper one. I wish more people would do tutorials of the very basics. Think you could do one about really basic concepts of footbag: posture, set locations, delay times, delay control, injury prevention techniques? General thoughts on the game? What it takes to get better? Practice regimes ect? Remember that talk we had that night behind my house in Orlando ...? that kind of stuff. I find it really useful and I bet other people would as well.

Hit Drifter bs after watching the drifter tutorial  I'd take me forever to figure this form without it.
