Modding Quantums?
Modding Quantums?
Hi
I was wondering if it is necessary to modify Quantum footbag shoes. I wouldnt want to ruin them, so i want to know for sure if it will make them better. I have the Quantum 2's, in case that makes a difference. If you happen to have any pictures of modded Quantums I would appreciate seeing them. Thanks
Josh

That's a good site. Once you get the basic idea behind certain lacing styles, you can come up with your own. It's not like there are only 4 ways to do it.

well you CAN mod quantums, but it would make the already thin materials even more thin
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR QUANTUMS GETTING WRECKED
there are 2 different types of fabric on the inside of the shoe and the toe. you could do with a gunit leather mod or a mesh laver mod on the shoe. it happened to me on my first pair because it ripped

This is just me, but i usually do a brocka mod to every single pair of shoes i own. I think it makes them look cooler, and the added ankle flexibility isn't bad either. Remember, this is all just me, take what i say with a grain of pepper.
(EDIT) I exaggerated a bit. I only do that mod with every pair of footbag shoes i own. Not every single pair of shoes i have, that would be time consuming.

Starting from the second eyelets, I usually do a double straight lace (where the shoelaces share the same eyelets) up to the second/third last eyelet, and then finish from there. It's a variation of the Train Track lacing. Here's a pic:

Of course, you can go under-over at the first eyelets and whatever. It just depends on whether you want to mess with the toewalls.
I think this method of lacing provides the most security, so that the shoe laces don't loosen up through time, but there's a chance you might ruin or snap your laces.
As for the Brocka mod, I usually don't condone doing the mod if you have great ankle crank already, but I would recommend you sew them up like I did in the picture. This is just so that the inner material won't rip or fray from continued wear of the shoe. Just note that you will have to lace up your shoes tighter because of the removal of the ankle support.
But if you have comfortable ankle crank, you don't have to use the Brocka mod, I think.

I was meaning to ask about that pair of Quantum 02's, sile. How did the paint job on those kicks do after all these months? Any fading or anything?
