hey buddy,

im really sorry to hear about all that with your girlfriend. i wanted to let you know that everything will get better, and life turns out how it's supposed to. i went through the same thing in highschool and i promise youll get through it.

you obviously love her and you two being there for each other as much as you can is the best thing you can do. try to find the good things that may come out of this, such as a stronger relationship with her family or a stronger relationship with her.

Hopefully a talk with her parents will smooth things out. Without knowing anything else about your situation, it seems like their just scared because you're 18 and she's not. But you definitely love this girl so it should all work out. It kind of reminds me of Romeo and Juliet.

i think its bullshit they let vasek into the circle comp after he missed the first round of it. what makes him so special that the people who are holding the event just let him slip into a circle? maybe his flight was late? too fucking bad. lifes not fair sometimes. Busy doing something? again too fucking bad. lifes not always fair. At the beach swimming? too fucking bad. you were too busy swimming to come to the event. no competing for you.

just because vasek is such a good footbag player doesnt mean he should get passes into competitions. he should of booked his flight earlier or something. vasek shouldn't have competed in circles at worlds, and shouldnt be the winner of it either.

what if i didnt show up to the first round of shred 30 or routines when i was competing? they would of cut me and that would of been the end of it. i dont get any special treatment. why should he? hes just like everyone else. he shouldn't of been allowed into the circle comps =/

While you make some excellent points (what's the point of having rounds, rules etc. if they can be broken on a whim) I think that the real reason is that anything that gets Vasek to play is good for the competition organizers.

I think that you have to face the fact that saying "Vasek will be at XYZ tournament" will mean more people there because they want to see him shred, compete etc. Another fact is that Vasek doesn't really shred or play much at tournaments. Just enough to compete and win usually. So basically I think the decision was taken by organizers to let Vasek play just so that he would actually *play footbag*. Personally I think it was a good choice. It let people who there say "OMG" and it let people who weren't (like me) see some footage.

You do bring up another point though: maybe there could be a seeding system for Circle comp allowing some top seeds to bypass the first couple of rounds?

I agree with Kyle, bullshit. I guess I'm kind of on the, "Vasek is just another one of us" band wagon

But I do agree with max. In crew (rowing) usually there are three races, and the top two from the first race out of five get a bypass to the grand final and then the two behind that get to go to semi's and the last place is DQ'd. Of course that is in the case that there are two groups of five and I'm sure it will be more at a comp like worlds. But something of that effect should be done, I think it would be more fair.

Vasek wasn't the only person allowed to skip the 1st round of the circle comp at Worlds. Nick Landes was also allowed through along with 2 other people I believe. They originally wanted me to continue to the 2nd round even though I lost in the 1st round because they needed another person to fill out the circles because of the late entries. So I agreed, but then Vasek showed up and they asked me if he could take my spot. I'm sure he would've taken my spot even if I said no, but I wanted to see him compete and if I had to give up my spot for him, then so be it.

I feel the same way Kyle. I went to SJFF to compete but was a little late for competition due to the group of people I was with and so couldn't... not that I would have made it to the next round anyway. But this sport should be treated more professionally, especially at Worlds. If you don't show up, you don't compete. That's my view.

If footbag is trying to sell a product, then the best product needs to be on display. In Net, the number 1, 2, and sometimes 3 seeds get "byes" through the first round of competition, sometimes even through the second round, if the number of players moving on from their pools in not even. The reason for this is simple: when it comes down to finals, we WANT to see the number 1 seed versus the number 2 seed, because that's where the best show is. Byes minimize the likelihood of fatigue, upset, or injury screwing up the "product" we're trying to sell for finals.

Applied to freestyle, this might look like Vasek skipping the first, even second round of Circle, from which we know he'd advance anyway, heading straight into the semi-final round. This gives him the best chance to make it to the final, which gives himthe best chance to please the audience/spectators and players at the event. If other competitors want to gain entry to the final, they'll need to prove themselves by advancing to that round- Vasek has already proven himself.

Rather than think of it as unfair, think of it as marketing.
