Things are winding down as far as my academic career is concerned. I've only got a few more weeks of schooling left and then I'll be out forever. I'm looking for newspaper/magazine jobs right now but haven't heard of anything even though I've applied to a bunch. If anyone hears of anything, let me know - I'm willing to relocate to just about anywhere.
I've been starting to meditate about an hour a day for a while now. Everyday I get more and more stress reduction from it, and my focus is beginning to improve as well. However, there's still a lifetime of practicing to do.
Haven't kicked in a few weeks.

Thanks Holly!
So yeah, I'm back in Raleigh now. Looking for reporting jobs pretty much anywhere and everywhere. Got an e-mail from some guy in some town west of where I grew up in NC who said he looked at my resume and thinks I would be a good fit for his paper. Problem is, it is in such a small town that I'm not sure I'd be comfortable living there. I don't really know where I want to live anymore. I guess it doesn't really matter - I need to start making money ASAP to pay off my thousands of dollars of debt.
I didn't say much about my graduation, but I graduated magna cum laude from East Carolina University with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication (my concentration is Print Journalism) and a minor in Music. I worked my ass off for pretty much my whole life in school and now it's all over and I almost don't even know what to do with myself. Lately I've been reading, applying for jobs, arranging things in my parent's house and smoking cigars.
For some reason, I've developed this really strong sense of anxiety that I've had since about February. I don't know exactly what it is, but it's really bothering me. I need to start meditating again.
A few days ago I jogged 2.5 miles without stopping, which is the longest I've ever gone, and I hope to go run again sometime soon. I also want to start shredding again soon - all I have now is time, which is nice in a way.
I haven't had cigarettes for three days now and I'm on the way to quitting, or at least being a cigarette bummer - I wouldn't really mind to smoke one again, I just want to stop buying a pack everyday. But for three days I haven't touched a single one, which has been nice.

Dude, I just started playing again. Not all that often but I try. We need to chill and play. Also I have a pipe and love cigars too so we can chill and smoke if you want. I get off work at 5 Monday through Friday.

Well shit. We'll make an evening of it.
Dinner and a movie... then some hot shred action. Mmmm... Sounds tasty.

Whoa! Aric! Tight! I haven't seen you in what - two years or something? Well anyways, yeah that would be definitely awesome. I'm currently looking for jobs so I might not stay in Raleigh but we can make it work I'm sure. Where will you be Aric? Citywise, I mean. And Alan, let's try to get up in the next week or so. I'm free pretty much 24/7 unless I'm applying for jobs, reading, cooking, meditating, or whatevering. Cigar would be great - maybe we could grab some coffee somewhere too? 3rd place? I don't know. Let me know - I'm probably freer than you right now so you can decide the best time. You still living at your fam's place?
Anyways. I'm in a great mood tonight for some reason. I went through this really fucked up cigarette craving tonight and I caved and actually smoked a cigarillo while grilling some pork, but I'm not too worried about it. I got a lot of stuff done today. Maybe that's why I feel pretty good. I went to the bank, put air in my tires, donated four bags of old clothes to Goodwill, applied to 13 jobs, wrote some thank you notes for graduation money (anything helps at the moment), got some reading done and cooked dinner for my family. Productivity fuels me I guess. As it probably does everybody.
I think I'm going to start meditating again tomorrow if I can wake up before after NOON. I've had the worst insomnia ever since I moved home to my folks' place, probably because I've essentially been sitting around doing nothing. But that's because I knew I was going to be fighting cigarette cravings for the past three days and because I am pretty much completely broke. Whatever - I have to stop making excuses for myself and just face reality. I've got like $35K in college loan debt and $4.5K in credit card debt. So that's like $40K in debt and I have no job or anything. It's all pretty scary, I can't lie.
I'm looking forward to playing footbag with you guys (Alan and Aric) whenever we get up with each other. Just let me know. Peace!

Word. No, I'm actually living with a friend and applying for apartments on Lake Lynn tomorrow and Saturday for myself and my buddy. Been out of the parent's place Since November/December time. I've been homeless at times living out of my car and living with friends the rest. It works though. I work eight to five Monady through Friday and I'm free after that. I'm most bored on Sundays.

Last time I saw you, was the first GRASS 4 years ago..
I'll be living in the middle of RTP in Morrisville.
Do either of you know any of the juggling clubs down there? I know Duke and NCSU both have clubs, but I haven't found any contact information for them yet.
I will start hosting competitions down there once I get settled, and having a local juggle club that has an event will make things a lot easier.

Yeah it's definitely been a while Aric. Don't know about any juggling clubs around here though.
Alan - want to try to shred one night this week? I guess we could go back to the mall again. Let me know what day your free. Oh and even more importantly, where do you work and are they hiring? I'm trying to get a part-time job like it's my life. I can work most anywhere.
Been practicing meditation regularly lately and just started a yoga routine. Very excited because I'd like to gain more flexibility in my legs for meditation and (gasp!) footbag!

Sure. I'm off at five Monday through Friday and usually home by five forty five. I actually just got an apartment and they have tennis courts and two pools so we can swim afterwards. I'm right on Lake Lynn too so we don't have to go to Crabtree. I'm right at Ray and Lynn. Just give me a call whenever. If you don't have my number still it's 919-815-7855.
I work at Allscripts out in Cary on Dillard Drive and Walnut Street. They write and sell medical software. I'm a Dispatch Operator. They have a few openings. Go to www.allscripts.com and go to Company>Career Oppurtunities and in the "Search Openings" section choose Cary, NC and search. Not sure if you are qualified but take a look. It's good work. Let me know if you'd like to talk with somebody about any of the positions.

Holly! Where in NC? I'd love to see you.
Alan - this week has been crazy and next week looks like it will too - more below but I'd still like to meet up with you sometime soon if possible.
----------
Update: I got a call yesterday from a newspaper publication in Washington DC and they invited me to come to DC on Monday for an interview. I accepted and they have purchased round-trip train tickets and hotel reservations for me. So I will be in DC on business Sunday-Monday, which is pretty exciting to say the least. I'd rather not divulge the name of the publication but I will keep everyone posted on my experience. Needless to say it might be at least a few days before I can shred. I have to put together my portfolio, prepare my resume package, study for a writing test, and learn about the market the publication covers - all within the next few days. But I am very surprised and excited that I am basically getting an already-paid trip to Washington DC and hopefully my interview will go well. Will keep everyone updated.

Back from DC. The interview went pretty well. I'm glad it's over though - I'm pretty tired. Some highlights:
-Saw some cool Israeli jazz in a bar called Bohemian Caverns in DC with a friend of mine from ECU.
-Had my interview.
-Met some cool people on the train.
-Listened to a lot of Phish.
-Finished a book, Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder.
So now I've been back for a day and already two other newspapers want to interview me. At least these are in NC so that'll be a little easier.
Looking to play footbag sometime soon.
