PLEASE HELP!!! (Rod Lavers Question)

Post by Jordan »

I modded my Lavers 2 days ago, and they are the sickest shoes EVER!!! They are super comfortable, and absolutely PERFECT for footbag. I really recomend any player that doesnt have them to pick up a pair.

But besides that, I have large gaps on the sides of my lavers (near the toe area) from cutting out the toe box stitches, and its not that I messed up the modding, its just that it gets annoying when my Fearless 55 gets stuck in those gaps when I toe stall.

Heres a couple of pics...

Whenever I stick my toes up in my shoe, it creates those gaps :?

Can anybody help me get those gaps closed?

you laced them to high. i think thats the problem. if you lace it 1 or 2 lower they should be fine. theres supose to be a bit of a gap but you just laced to high so its a bigger gap.

..no. =]

excessive modding is an easily contracted disease.... ive caught it pretty bad myself before :oops: . the only two mods necessary are the toebox you have already executed, and sometimes a brocka, which not everyone needs.

also, maybe use a bigger bag.... f 55's are small :wink:

the dude above me is right... lace them lower, and your good to go. the toe box needn't be HUGE.... i didnt even use my walls when i played. just big enough for a bag.

personally i dont think you should cuz my mentors said why should you cut of your wings and tub it. you can learn perfectly fine with out tubbing it. you can do all the set just fine you can pixie fine with out the tubbing you can fairy, atomic, quantum with out them.,. ive have been playing in the same lavers for a year now and i have only done the basic mods you just did, and now i can shuffle like nobodys business (plus my legs are skinny) :wink:. your shoe should break in and your mesh should be choice in a couple of months plus you should buy spenco in soles just so you dont get shin splints. its your choice to tub them or not . i just dont want you to regret doing it after. is better to just stick with the toe walls and learn your basics, then after switch to quantums cuz the toe walls will be smaller. but i love my lavers and i dont wanna switch over. i wanna play in the same pair over lavers for a number of years just like vasek. i just hope may lavers dont die.:(

ohh yeah your dream bag is a zebra print bag and my laver a half zebra print. 8) :wink:

Moxie, which method of lacing on that site you posted above do you recommend is the best? I've had method 2 in my lavers since I bought them. They seem good and never reallyt hought about trying a new method. Any suggestions?

Hey Chris. No, just do whatever works for you. Maybe try another lacing method just to see which works best for you. I do it my own way which I haven't seen other people use, but it's just so my shoes fit nice and snug without a lot of work.

yea... if you have shitty shoes, the odds are your gona drop the bag a lot... and the more you drop your fearless on the street, the more the material gets dirty and wears away... If you play outside, i recommend using a Mr.Sandbag...

Your fearless should be able to last you quite awhile, even playing outside on concrete. Needless to say, it won't last as long if you were to play on carpet all the time. But if you take care of if, wash it after every 2-3 session, and you don't destroy the bag ie, step on it, grind it, toe pick ups etc., it'll last you a long time.

yea i only play inside my house on carpet with the fearless. And i will wash it once a week (only had it for 3 days) because i only do light kicking for 5-10 mins with it. Then with my Mr. sandbag I try to land stuff with my shoes that are horrible for footbag (im only a begginer so im really just doing basic stalls)
