not quite but it was like $90. i didn't want a brooks originally but it was mostly all they had at the shop and i didn't want to wait to order one because my old one was soo bad. hopefully it's a good investment that will provide lasting comfort

i'm ok with my frame for now but it's probably what i will upgrade from this point... that's just so much work i don't want to think about right now

The lugs on that frame look pretty hot and I dig the frame color. Are those nashbar pursuit bars by chance?

It's alive! Just took it for a spin. Need to find a gas station to get some more air to the wheels before I ride more though. I found a really nice shop in Berlin with a nice Canadian guy and got nice used parts for cheap from him. The bike turned out pretty nice and I built it all by myself except the wheels!

I'll post pics tomorrow.

It was a dream of mine to ride fixed in Berlin and I got to do that last summer. Next comes living there riding fixed! hehe

I am traveling to NYC tomorrow for the Bicycle Film Festival which includes the premiere of Bootleg Sessions vol.2, the DVD I am featured in. I will get to ride and do tricks with all my superhero's of fixed tricks! whee!

Specs are as follows, in order of expensiveness

Miche Pista Primato hubs w/ Miche Pistaro WR wheels
Mavic bullhorns
Shimano 600 pedals, used
CLB frontbrake, used
Frame off of eBay
Wippermann WeiÃŸstern track chain (Deutsche QualitÃ¤t

)
and the rest is cheap generic stuff
All in all around 600e, the wheels broke my budget, but they were worth it

What I would like to upgrade later is the saddle, to something white and more comfortable, and the cranks. They are 175mm, no problem while riding so far, but the pedals touch the ground a bit when my feet are not in them yet.

tonight (i have lights) a van cut right into an alley without using his blinker and pinched me into the curb , where i wasn't able to stop, i hit it full on and it threw my bike and i through the air in a pretty good arc. he got out to help me which is rare but i felt fine and my bike seemed fine so i told him to use his god damn blinker and we parted ways. it was weird riding but i figured it'd just misadjusted my handlebars so i'd fix it later. but when i got to where i was going i saw it under light and both tubes behind the headset were actually crunched in like a soda can. pretty massive bend and really awkward to steer with.
luckily i went back down the same alley and spotted the guys van and showed it to him. he was really sorry but could only afford to give me a hundred bucks... so hopefully i can put it toward another old bike on craigslist... i can just transfer all the parts i already have onto it i guess. it's just frustrating because i dont know what size my bike is so im not sure what to look for. grrr.

any frame brands i should keep an eye out for or avoid?

All the "scene" kids in Pittsburgh ride fixies. And I laugh at them as they struggle to navigate one of the few cities in the states built around a mountain, three rivers, and the rolling hills of Pennsylvania.

I'm sure they are fun to ride in any other scenario though.

yeah but if i got just a frame i would need a new bottom bracket and crankset and chainring headset and seatpost right? i just don't have that money man. plus i don't get how this shit is sized

All the stuff depends on what you currently have. Your drive train, seatpost, and stem may all be able to be moved over. If you want a complete bike off the rack then consider the same frame but in a complete package for $350 from bikesdirect.com.

Beyond that for a new bike you are gonna end up spending much much more for a complete bike.

If you are unsure of sizing information and what you want in a bike then I would recommend doing a lot of research, reading fixed gear bike forums, and learning as much as you can before you buy anything. It will pay off in the long run.

I suppose the other option is CL and getting another old road bike frame but if you have to get a new bike this might be the perfect chance to upgrade to something meant to be fixed.

Everything undamaged from your old frame will go on the new one as long as all the sizes are right.

Just take it by you local bike shop and see what is salvageable and anything else you may need to know.

Anychance we could get a picture of the bike?

the point you're missing is that i needed a bike immediately because it's my only transportation. i couldn't order a frame, wait a week for it to get here and then spend another 3 days putting it together. i picked up an overpriced bianchi cyclocross frame to get me by for the time being; i will probably check out that other frame when i recoup my funds. I'll post a picture when i get home from seattle.
