Sam: I really like most of your stuff but shouldn't these photos just be in the "Photos of me"-thread?

Yes, the northwest yosemite picture is from hetch hetchy. The mt lassen picture is from lassen volcanic NP.

I'm off to yosemite next week too, where abouts are you hiking ? I'll be heading out thursday morning from tamarack, and ending up in the meadows via the grand canyon.

Have a nice trip, wish I was going out for two weeks, that sounds awesome.

I'll keep an eye out for you next weekend in the Meadows. Our loose plan is to start at the meadows Monday and cross-country over the Cathedral range south to Merced Lake, then down into the Clark range. Only one car so when the food runs out we'll be back at the meadows again, hopefully for a little climbing at Tenaya Lake...photos withcoming.

I was going to ask you for meal suggestions but due to some complex travel plans, I wound up not being responsible for any food at all.

the thing about yosemite is that the truly magnificent scenes are too large to be photographed with a point and shoot camera.

I setup camp a few minutes before sunset, and had a nice dinner, snapping a few pictures as the sunset lit up my surroundings.
