Hi!

My name is Simon Kittlaus, I'm 21 years old and I'm living in Hamburg and Bremen in Germany. Currently I'm studying Sinology and Political Science in Hamburg in my first year at university.
I've started playing footbag in June 2007, because I saw Jorden Moir's "Huge Tricks" video. In 2005 I quit playing soccer and since then I kept searching for another sport I could like...I tried running and freestyle soccer, but in the end the summer of '07 added footbag to my life.
Doing my first kicks I wore Brooks Dyad 4 and had a 12-panel footbag from footbagfreaks.net.
I think I've hit my first mirage after two hours of playing =) It must've looked pretty bad.

Since then I never stopped thinking about footbag and playing in every free minute I've got.
I found a footbag club via footbag.org in Bremen with 2 members and started playing with them. I've really learned alot from them and I still do :P

In July/August I don't quite remember exactly, I got my first pair of Laver's and in December I got Quantum02. I'm using Qm02 to shred and wear my lavers every day...thus I can play every time I'm outside :P

I hope to make this blog interesting by keeping a record of my progression in consistency, flipside tricks and new tricks/runs.

I'm gonna add a actual move-list the next days. I got to go to sleep now ^^

hehe, thanks Alf =) Now I know what footbag means in Chinese.^^

I had a pretty bad session today....
I went through my basic drills, which worked quite well, but I could not hit any Atomics today, which was my main goal.

I've tried some other stuff afterwards like Osis>Blur and Torque>Blur, but hit only the first link.

Thanks to David Clavens' drifter tutorial I hit my first real clean drifter...flipside :P

So much for today.

Hi!

Today I went to Bremen University to shred with all club members.

All in all it was a pretty good afternoon. I had a few good runs, which was the aspect I wanted to improve today - it worked ;)

Highlights of today's session:

Atomsmasher & Legbeater midstring in one run
Mirage>Legover>rpt>BF>Far Osis>Torque
Osis>Paradox Torque (not totally clean)
BF>Pdx Mirage>rpt x7
Heel Delay>Smear

I've almost hit: Osis>Torque>Blur, but that's gonna be hit in one of the following sessions.

After the bad session on Thursday, I'm very satisfied with today's goings...All the things I wanted to do worked out and I improved the overall consistency and security of my tricks/runs.

Perhaps I'm going to shred again tomorrow..not sure yet. I have kinda lot to do for university and that's more important than footbag...just a littlte bit, but enough that I won't shred, if I don't manage to get all the involuntarily tasks and voluntarily tasks done ^^

So long, Simon

I've got lots of university stuff to do this week...thus I won't be able to shred before the weekend :( I thought about DLOs the past two days, because I can't hit them :P
I'm gonna try them in my next session...We'll see if my concept will work.

I've always tried to set pretty high and then really dex with both legs around the bag. Now I wanna try them with a way lower set and a different dex motion. I plan to jump over the bag attempting the first dex and make the second one a really legover-like dex. So I wanna hit them with more speed and less height...perhaps it works out for me =)

I have a footbag presentation at my mom's workplace on June 21st. She works in a kindergarten. I'm not really sure what to show them, as I am not really good so far. I just thought that I want to show them only basic moves, because I believe they won't get the whole idea of footbag when I'm trying to hit hard moves. Furthermore I think that Mirages, Legovers, Butterflies and just Clippers will be spectacular enough for them.

If you have any advice or tips on how to make that presentation a success, please tell me =)

Hi fellas...

I had no success at all with DLOs. I think I'm gonna wait a month until the German Championships start...surely, someone there can show how to do them.

I worked on Drifters and Ducking a lot these days, besides my usual program filled with basics, bops and stringlength training.

I hit: Drifter>rpt; Osis>Drifter bs; Ducking Osis (one-sided); Infinity x16 and BF>Pdx Mirage>rpt 28 Contacts

So much for my progress now...Gotta a loooot to do for university this weekend...additionally the soccer european championships are gonna start today!!!!

I had a 30min session last night around 3 o'clock....

Got Ducking Osis bs; my first Rake Transfer and Inside Toe Set Ducking Butterfly with a 4:20 in my left hand ;)

Tonight Germany has its first match for Euro 2008 versus Poland.
Gotta watch that game!

I registered myself at German Championships today for the following disciplines:

Single Freestyle (Intermediate)
Shred 30 (Intermediate)
Net Doubles (Intermediate)

I've never had a shred 30 or played Net ^^ that's gonna be fun.

so long,

had a session at university yesterday.

New:

Fairy Mirage.

A fellow student of my sinology class started to play footbag, because I showed him what I can already do with a small footbag :)
I gave him an old Sole-Assassin from pf. (12-panel / sand-filled).
He is completely new to this sport...has never kicked before and thus a total beginner, but he's doing fine.
I told him to kick a lot to gain more feeling and control over the bag and to try some toe stalls.
He already ordered Lavers and received a 32-panel footbag from a friend of mine who's stitching.

It is very cool to know somebody who started playing footbag, because he saw me playing :P
I'm looking forward to teach him how to play from the beginning of his doings :)

9 alternating toe stalls are his record so far and 6 alternating toe kicks :)

I'll try to keep his progress up to date here =)

His name is Björn =)
He hasn't got an account yet on modified.

He has done 10-15 32p bags now, I'm not totally sure.
I could get you some pics and perhaps you two wanna trade ;)

Last week I was thinking if I should order a bag from you =)
I'll decide that the next days!

I'll try to keep this footblog up to date from now on...

At the moment I do a lot of drilling. Really basic stuff.
Moreover I'm drilling duckings and divings.

had a session yesterday...Illusions are slowly coming around for me.
Ducking and Diving gets better. I've hit fs diving clipper...I really had problems with the diving motion at the beginning, but it's coming.
Hit PS Mirage at the end of the session. yay! ^^''

the next days I will write up my experiences from worlds I think...a little late though :D

Just returned from outside...

I had a pretty good drill session tonight.
ATWs are bs 9/10, so pretty safe.
39x Legover (record is 54)
ss Mirages are running
Near and Toe BF are good.
Near Legover is very safe.
Illusion went well from left toe...have problems with the left-leg dex.

Duckings and Divings are improving...I gained more feeling for the set the last days.

And out of nowhere I can hit Near DLOs on strong side...don't ask me why...but I can hit them now :) :)

Going to watch a movie tonight, after spending the day with Chinese vocabulary and footbag afterwards....
Not sure what'll be, but I hope it's gonna be a good one :P

Peace.
