Just watched Zohan!!

All modifiers should watch it because it is a funny movie and not because of the three scenes with 'hacky sack' in it.

First hacky scene: Zohan enters a circle on a beach, does 2 clipper stalls (on his flipside I'm sure and in sandels) and then bust a bunch of crazy spiny shit and finishes with an ass grab. -board at the office rip off! He also catches a fish this same way.

Second hacky scene: Zohan and his roommate/ son of the obese older lady he sleeps with, play with a Cat in the livingroom.

Third hacky scene: At the hacky sack comp. a quick flash of a few kicks and he shoots he scores. The game the are playing seems remenisent of that hackysackish game from that movie with jackie chan play with a shuttle-cock and two teams.

So I wanna know if the footbag players (extras) even pushed for showing freestyle in the movie more or were those scene edited out.

-and your not credited in the credits at all. Just a hackysack is a registerd trademark of whamo ink.

Was Adam Sandler just flipping through youtube one afternoon and came across footbag and said hey that fuck'n cool!

Wow...

I like the movie.... just wanted to see more footbag and less sex with grandmas!!

Whatever..... You know on modified I may not be the best, but when I shread anywear outside I am the best and people will always remember me as the best hacker ever! -- even though I suck with computers.

Keep in mind they say "hacky sack" about 32.5 times in the movie so now anyone who watched it have been brainwashed into wanting to buy a 'hacky sack' so they can try cool moves like ass catch.

god.

i used to like adam sandler but this is fucking ridiculous.

this sounds literally like the worst movie in the history of the universe.

im glad they didnt say footbag in it...i dont want to be associated with that garbage dump of a movie. it sucks that they made it in the first place because of the hacky sack encouraging implications, but at least they didnt say footbag.

i wish they hadnt contacted wham-o first (i assume they did) and wham-o sues them for infringement.

From what I heard the Wham-O thing was a trade-off. Sony Pictures gets to use the term Hacky Sack and Wham-O can just take it as free promotion.

(...not that Wham-O has actively promoted footbag or Hacky Sack in 20 years.)

Several footbaggers, including myself, worked on the movie. I think for those of us who were on set at all, we thought it was going to be pretty bad. But who would turn down getting paid to go on vacation?

They could have easily gotten Vasek if they wanted, but they weren't concerned with showing real freestyle. They just cast people who had a certain look or build.

I didn't make the final cut. I believe the legs in the beginning scene are those of Ryan Mulroney. His goal in Hacky Sack Mania was pretty sweet, too.

One thing is for sure, Zohan doesn't aim to advance the sport of footbag. I'm okay with that.

The movie was funny at parts and stupid at other parts.

It was cool to see Ryan and Red in the beginning.

Hey, I'm in Zohan (tournament scene).

With regards to your question about pushing for freestyle... This game with the nets was invented by Ryan Mulroney and a couple of other people under the guidance of Sony people. They were looking for some sort of "match" with goals and stuff. It actually was modeled from some sort of shuttlecock game from a Jackie Chan movie. We shredded on set, people were impressed, but this scene was not meant for freestyle.

For those of you that haven't seen it, Zohan is amazing. It makes kicking a footbag look cool, and can only do great things for this sport. I am actually curious to see if Footbag Israel will be able to ride off of some of this hype.

It was funnier then I thought it was going to be, but I set low expectations. I just wanted to see my friends. I still think it was a score for them!

A lot of it was dumb, but it is not like I thought it would be otherwise. It was an Adam Sandler movie for goodness sakes. .

I think that I am worried more about cats getting kicked around then any bad connotations the movie made with our wonderful sport. I think that it could have been worse. At least they showed that there are competitive "hack" events.

I wish they had mentioned the names of the people in the credits.

All and all, I am glad they did it. Thanks guys.

Like it or not, nearly everyone who sees you shred is going to think of it as hackysack. The association is already there and IMO there's not a lot we can do to fight it. On the positive side, hundreds of thousands of people have at least casually kicked a hack, so that's a potential pool of new players/audience if we reach out to them at appropriate times. This is a tangent.

Anyway, the reviews I've read mostly say "if you like Adam Sandler movies, you'll really like this movie."

Even though I was almost entirely edited out of the movie, I thought it was extremely funny. It helps that I'm Jewish and that I "get" a lot of the racial-political jokes.

The humor was definitely very over the top, but it wasn't funny-stupid like Dumb and Dumberer. It was funny-strange or maybe even funny-I can't believe they did that.

I liked the movie.

People can call footbag hacky sack, this is not a problem, as long as they can relate a name to the sport. If this movie can get 1 extra person to be interested in footbag and start playing, then it`s good enough for me.
