I've been playing for at least an hour or so on Mondays and Tuesdays at York. Usually just solo. It hasn't been too productive until yesterday.

Mobius bs
WhaleTail bs
Pdx Torque
Whirl War
Zulu Clipper b2b
GYRO Zulu Clipper
Tied my records for Drifter ( 6 ) and Ripwalk ( 8 ).
DATW and DSO felt good.

Some good looks at Spinning Weaving

Still can't usually push my average Guiltless up past 10 though, and I'm a little annoyed. 20 rather consistently would be so much better... like twice as good or something.

Josh, dude, gnarly concepts bro! Gyro-zulu, and spinning-weaving? Most excellent!

... in fact they sounded so cool you got me talking like a surfer (or a ninja turtle). Where in the heck did that come from? I don't know, but way to think outside the box. I feel like once I get my clippers working right my dexless game will explode too, but that remains to be seen.

Don't worry too much about guiltless, it's really overrated. I'd way rather you see hit a bunch of stylie spinning/ducking shiz with the occasional guilt than do the typical: lots of BOPS > big trick > lots more BOPS > big trick > ad nauseum you see so much these days.

Maybe a video one of these days? Updates to this blog are always a pleasure to read.

Ben brings up a good point, a video from you one of these days would be a pleasure.

Props on Whale Tail, especially. That move is so awkward :)

I'll play with you again soon I'm sure, just tell me when you have work off and we'll see what works out.

Hey Josh!

How you doing? Hope everything is well, big progress right there Josh! Some good stuff I'd like to be hitting.

I was wondering if you we're planning to go in Cornell? It's not too far and a bunch of people should be there. I'm actually trying to go and it's looking good for now. I should get down with at least 3 other montrealers. If everythings going well of course.

Wow, posts! Thanks guys, when I read these I felt warm.

Ben: I don't really like being on video still for some reason. I dunno, I would also love to see a video of me but I don't have time to make it and no idea how anyway! Heheh... but thanks man! Ninja Turtles rock.

Jay: I work SO much. I really want to make it down to shred with you ASAP, but holy crap I have no time. I'm lucky if I get a day totally off every 3 weeks lately. However! I will try and give you apt notice when I see one coming so we can work something out and have it solid. And besides, I'm afraid of your crazy shred. :P

Mathieu!
Je suis content que tu m'as ecrit. Je sais pas si j'irai a Cornell, je le doute, mais je te parlerai en plus bientot. Je souhaite que tout aille bien pour toi aussi. Merci, a bientot.

Woweee...

I dig this up, and realized I had forgotten about how I was progressing before my heart decided to be an asshole for 8 months and prevent me from playing.

The good news is that the ticker is no longer a problem, and I'm slowly getting back into the groove and getting better again, because my game did seriously suffer in my hiatus.

I'm focusing on (rev) swirls, drifters, and dexless components, and it's been going pretty well. I hit flip Pdx Drifter first try today, which may be a new move for me. Also footed Ripstein both sides a BUNCH, but am still as far away from hitting it as I could be while still making contact. Barrage and Paradon are easier then before, making me think that my mental game hasn't suffered too much, as I'm able to make mental adjustments when what I'm doing isn't working. Speaking of which:

An epiphany (for me anyway) on Swirls: I've been rolling the bag off my foot too much. If I think about just a tiny little set like I do for Rev Swirls (which have always been easier for me) things work out better. And the key: to have my foot peak at the same time as the bag. So as the bag crests, my foot is beside or just above it. This slows down the motion and allows for a calmer, nicer looking swirl rather than spinning it with a roll and waiting for a wayward set to just fall on the foot.
Hope that made sense.

Other highlights from my tiny solo session today:
Diving Clip > Zulu Clip rpt.
Ducking Clip > Weaving Clip rpt.
Ripwalk x 6 first try.
A bunch of other relatively easy Guiltless 4 move drills.

I'm finally excited to play again. After 4 days of INTENSE heat and 3 of SHITTY rain, the weather is cool and beautiful, and there's a session planned for tomorrow in a very public area. So far Alex and Cassy are coming. I can't wait. While I did miss playing, I got used to not doing it. What I didn't get used to was not talking much to my footbag friends.

FAT is the coolest.

Guess what, world!

Ontario is quite possibly the hottest spot in the footbag world right now!

Jorden - World caliber
Johnny - Playing again, and blowing minds
Jay - The next great player
Cassy - Maybe soon to be the best female player in North America? Tell me if I'm overstepping the boundaries here.

Jon Haber's playing again. Ben Roscoe is improving like crazy under the radar. NORTH BAY has a shred scene.

FAT is alive and well.

Brantford is bustling.

6 of the 8 most recently updated blogs right now are Ontarian.

Everyone should move here.

Had a short session yesterday where I mostly worked on Swirl stuff.

Highlights:

Ripstein bs (still unsealed strong side)
Rev. Swirl > Symple Swirl bs
New Spinning Clipper record (8)
Flip Rev Whirls don't feel so weird.
Spinning Osis b2b.

And that's it.

I've been playing 4 or 5 times a week lately, if only for an hour or less at a time. It feels like if I keep this up I might be able to push myself past the slump in progression I've been experiencing.
Let's hope.

Short couple solo sessions in the past few days.
I've had time to shred but my schedule seems to be constantly at odds with when FAT is getting together.
FAT, don't think I'm not thinking about you.

Anyway, recent highlights:

Pdx Whirl bsos
Pdx Drifter bsos
Rev Whirl > Pdx Whirl rpt.
Drifter > Whirl > Rev Swirl bs (almost rpt)
Flail bs (First time? At least since I started playing again)
Average Guiltless string up to an average of 18-20.
Barrages feel good, flip Paradon still not really cooperating...

I don't know, I'm pretty happy. The increase in string length has me really happy. My longest Guiltless run today was 34, with Drifters, Whirls, Shuffle, and Dexless all incorporated somewhat.

Talk to you all soon.

Howdy.

I played out in the sun for a couple hours today. At first I didn't know if it would be a very good session; I could barely make it through my warmup drills. Once I did, however, things got rolling quickly.

Highlights (all in guiltless runs):

Run with Torque, Drifter, and Whirl bs
Run with Magellan > Parkwalk, Drifter > Whirl, and Spinning Clip > Ducking Clip all bs
Symple Rev Swirl bsos
Run with Dyno and Far Rev Whirl bs

Flip Paradon is continuing to improve, as are flip toe moves. I realized today I've been a little to jerky in my left toe set, which throws off my rhythm and balance. I evened it out a bit today and it helped Toe Whirls, Toe Drifters, and DLOs a bunch.

Also, I feel kinda like I'm finally kind of legit to not be Tiltless anymore. I still don't consider myself good as far as Guiltless goes, but any 2 in a string now feels like, honestly, a guilt. So I guess I'm Guiltless.

I also think I've finally passed where I was in my game before my heart acted up. I'm better than I've ever been at footbag.

Oh! I also forgot a highlight from the weekend:

Guiltless run with DLO, Drifter, and Whirl all bs. I wouldn't have bothered but it looks from the above highlights like I'm not working on toes that much. I do work them a good bit. I bsos'd Spinning Mirage a bunch too.

It's rare for me to be able to shred during a weekend. That's usually when you make it down, isn't it?

I've been lucky to make it to some weekday FAT gatherings lately. Any chance you'll be down during the week anytime soon?

Probably won't be down during the week anytime soon. The only thing I might be able to do is a Friday afternoon sometime. Do those work for you?

For me, it all depends on my schedule. Which I only get a week or maybe two in advance... so I dunno. I just hope to see you sometime soon. I'm probably going to be working A LOT during the few months, but I'll let you know whenever I have time off.
