yeah Jane,

I went through alot of trendy stuff while I was growing up, BMX, juggling, devil sticks. When I started footbag my uncle said, neat I wonder what you'll be into next year. It was my goal from then on to stick with footbag and I have, with no regrets.
I met my girlfriend 2 years ago when I started footbag, and I'd dump her ass in a second if she ever said I had to stop
So in answer to your original post, yes, for one week, after a barfly gone wrong. It was an awful week.

Footbagging alone fucking sucks.

Today I was pumped full of that thought.

I can see how this would be enough to deter the weak willed.

I'm schooling my ass so that I won't suck entirely at world's.

I quit for a year. Music took over my life. Even when people were calling me to shred, I would just make up excuses because it was so boooring for me. I guess I quit because I didnt feel like practicing bymyself, and I always had something to do (highschool).

When I look back, of course it would have been good to have kept interest and be insanely good right now, but I dont regret that I quit. It was definitely the right thing for me to do at the time. Ive mature soo much in the break, and now I think I can get back to schooling realistically (BASICS!!), instead of just trying to hit some new big trick. I see again what was fun with footbag, and im glad i am playing again.

I do the same thing with classical guitar and Jazz guitar. It seems like every summer I get way into classical guitar and out of jazz, because there is no one to play with. Classical is completely solo, so it is much more fun to play. During the school year I get to play in jazz bands all the time, so I find almost no time for classical. Im fine with this. I play footbag alot during the summer, but not during the school year.

It's not that bad. I footbag alone every day ( But hey I suck!) and not once I think about quiting. Maybe I feel differnt once I acutally play with a real freestyler. In some ways, I think it's best if I don't shred with someone who not going be around long because once I get a taste I might be hooked!
I think I going to take over Canada. You should help.

Shredding alone definitely has its benefits. Number one you can pick the bag up every single time you drop and try again. You only take breaks when you are tired and can drill moves over and over. Also, when you are very passionate about footbag and you have a partner that is equally passionate it makes it very hard on you if you can't play due to an injury. I feel that if I was just playing alone it would be easier to take the necessary time to recover if I didn't have a super excited partner ever-ready to shred.

But in the end shredding alone all the time SUCKS. It is sooo much fun to shred with a lot of people. I like 3-4 person circles the best. Definitely not a reason to quit footbag though, there are always tournies you can go to to shred with others.

I don't like this thread... Footbag is too fun to quit!

yeh i always kick by myself and never thought of quiting, ive got a long term goal to succeed so i cant quit. When i do succeed things will get even better for me :).
shreding by urself is great for schooling and stuff but once u play with proper freestylers its a heaps different and great experience tho.

I didn't really mean to quit. I more of "took a break" and didn't start again. The Jam in Eugene with Aaron and all of the Eugene crew pumped me up but right after that I had a lot of crap with soccer that I needed to deal with. It was right at the time when I was quitting a travel team and the summer league was starting up. I guess practicing lacrosse for next year factors in as well. People around me quitting left and right with our school club being a wreck goes in there too. Just a lot of things I had to deal with. I hope I'm back for good

Don't worry you'll pull yourself back into the sport. just practice a little everyday, and if you can't just think about it and all the good times you had in the past.

car accident made me take time off.. that was no fun.. to train so hard and try and make this body into a footbagging canvas.. and then to have it reduced to pulp and water in an instant :(

I've actually decided to retire from footbag as of October.

Why October?
Well, I organised for the Brisbane City Sessions to take place at the end of September, but I've already decided that enough is enough. I don't love the sport like I used to, but I'm going to stick it out untill the jam is over. Then I can focus on something else.
So far, I'm thinking about working my upper body via juggling and martial arts.
But I'll not play freestyle again - although I will still circle kick.
Comment in the BCS blog if you feel the need to.

I was on the verge of quitting after last summer was over, and the cold weather came around. Pat stopped playing, Josh stopped playing, and I was uber depressed so never wanted to play by myself. The only thing that kept me going were other footbaggers and making videos and receiving responses etc that boosted my self esteem.

I am now playing steadily again and I feel I am progressing, but the depression thing hasn't left me. but quitting footbag won't help with my depression at all, so really I have no point to quit anymore. Great excercise and great people.

Wow! Way to pull a 4 year old thread out of nowhere!

Interesting, I commented that I felt footbag had lasting longevity with me, 4 years later I still love it!

That said, I havn't played in a few weeks, but whatever, these blades are still sharp! :P

The thought that one day I will no longer be playing footbag is very sad at this point in my career. I'm so excited about it all day long, its unreal.

I will be playing as long as my body allows it.

I session 3-4 times a week on average, one at the most is with other people. It would be nice to play with people more often but I would never consider quitting because I don't have someone to shred with.

I will only quit if when it is truly necessary for me to amputate my legs.

lol

I imagined an alumni meeting of all the footbaggers from this stage in the game getting together 40 years from now, and we're all missing legs/in wheel chairs. "We used to kick so much ass!!"

Honestly... That would be really cool in it's own way.
