Spencos are the best insoles on the market, and are highly recommended for footbag. I wear orthotic Spencos these days, so I can't do these mods, but I had in the past done this mod to my Spencos and it worked alright. Just don't make a deep cut.

Or, if you're getting something like the "Cushioned Arches" variety of Spencos, the mod isn't necessary, as the area in question is already too soft to interfere with the clipper so there's no need to cut.

Whatever insoles you're using, this mod is necessary. Spenco insoles are great, definitely worth buying.

I didn't cut my insoles (I use the climacool ones).

Also, I don't like the way spencos feel at all, and the fact that they are like $20 bucks doesn't help. But everyone else loves them, so I'm probably just an oddity.

I also don't like spencos at all. It raises my heel way too much and makes me feel unbalanced.

When I rocked lavers, I went though 3 pair of shoes to figure what mods I really need.

Do whatever to your shoes...like, when you're using them do you feel 100% comfortable or you feel like there's something missing? I always had that feeling before I tried different shoes.

I never liked the Spencos with the yellow polyeurathane material on the bottom. I agree that it does feel really weird, and it also raised my heel to an unsatisfactory point.

Personally, the "Arch Cushions" versions were the insoles that I've used for a couple of months, and they felt like I had pillows underneath my feet. :) I think the regulars have the same effect as well.

Who needs insoles?

I re-flied (as in, they so fly!) my lavers last night and today:

well, im saving up money for Quantum 3's and I dont have the extra cash to go out and buy a $20 insole... Plus my lavers are the most compfortable shoe ive ever owned... So, I dont think im gona be making any extra purchases for them, except for maybe a couple of new pairs of thin laces... Btw I might do a broka cut tonight...

zac: i dont use insoles either :D

jordan: do not over-mod shoes. i made this mistake, and it ends up with a shoe too flimsy for shred. really be sure you need a brocka before you do it, and make it slight.

I don't get how you guys don't use insoles. If I don't use insoles it feels like Jesus punched the bottom of my foot like 20 times. And not the Jesus from the Bible who loved peace and did miracles; this guy:
