well, im getting back into it, definitley.
us open was awesome. every single time i go to tourneys i get motivated again. it shows me how many types of people play footbag, and that i really can be as good as i want. basically, i see that im not as bad as i make myself out to be within my own little mental bubble.
i sold a few bags, and traded one. rob creel got a bag, and alex dworetzky as well. the traded one went to zac miley, who let penske borrow it for his finals routine =] i was sooo happy about that, it felt awesome that he picked my bag out of the like 200 that were there at his disposal.
getting to hang out and just talk with all the people i know was great too, as well as getting to know some poeple a little better. ben skaggs always makes me laugh... a bloody shred stump comes to mind. a got to talk to people like kyle hewitt, alex d, chase burns, and cody carter a little more. zac jackson turned out to be a pretty cool guy, and attempted to help me with the fearless 55 pattern. and chilling with david always is cool. thanks again for inviting us.
heres some highlights of my game currently. im getting better ever time i play.

That bag disappeared on Sunday. I have no idea what happened to it.calemccoy wrote: the traded one went to zac miley, who let penske borrow it for his finals routine =] i was sooo happy about that, it felt awesome that he picked my bag out of the like 200 that were there at his disposal.
I think I let another circle borrow it and I never saw it again.

Haha! Bloody stump! Such a funny image. Keep up the practice and don't get your leg chopped off mid clipper.

so, im playing well i suppose. but...
footbag is what depresses me most in life right now. almost everything else is great, and the main thing that isnt (my eating disorder) is partially fueled by footbag. basically, theres an ideal body type to have in footbag, which i dont. anyways, most things are great, so im usually in an awesome mood, until i play footbag. as soon as i start dropping, i rip myself apart in my head, and just sell myself terrible lies. im not good enough, you arent getting better, youre too big for this sport, you should be better than this now, that surgery was a poor decision, you should quit. ive considered quittig seriosuly for about a week now. midsession, ill change my mind to quit or not like 4 times, no joke. i love it and hate it. also, i love yogan to death.... but he is the most frustratig person ive ever met. like i said, hes one of my best friends, but all his little mannerisms drive me nuts. at the same time, i know its my footbag-induced bad mood causing those mannersims, so i feel even more like an ass for hating them. i wish there were more tourneys i could go to, they always make me play/feel extremely better. playing with yogan alone at makeshift shred spots like my garage or dallas' house is tiring. i have no idea what im gonna do.... but for now, i think im gonna take like 2 weeks off, and just stitch if i feel like it, but no playing at all. i have alot of bags i feel bad about not making yet, and a bunch i want to make for myself. so, please leave some feedback if you have any, or encouragement, or just whatever.

I'm sorry you have to go through stuff like this. I just want you to know that your not bad at footbag, your actually pretty good. Your better then you were before the surgery if today was any indicator, and you shouldn't let yourself trick yourself into thinking anything other then that. I'm sure everyone here would agree with me.

I know this post probably won't help all that much, but don't let this bother you too much, I'm like really tall/heavy for a footbagger but I don't think it gets in the way too much. Like sure some stuff is a bit harder but I honestly believe some stuff is easier too. You are busting out a bunch of cool stuff don't get down on yourself too much.calemccoy wrote:basically, theres an ideal body type to have in footbag, which i dont.
I'm small and short, and I don't think I have the ideal body type for footbag either. However, lately I feel that my body type isn't the issue, but my resolve and mentality towards footbag is the center of my problems. I want to improve quickly and go straight to guitless already, hitting 25-30 contact strings on command, but I have to keep reminding myself that I have to get all of the basics and my own personal coordination dialed, and that takes a shit load of time to understand for some people.
Also, whether you are light or heavy, skinny or built, or even bulky and big, if you bust yourself out with dedicated and smooth coordinated strings through footbag, I think that's an achievement in of itself no matter what you hit. You're doing better than me, that much I can say.
I sometimes secretly wish I was built like Aaron Orton or Taishi from Team Japan, but everyone's body is different. You just have to choose the most efficient and healthiest route your body can sustain for footbag and general life. You just have to push yourself comfortably to achieve your personal goals.
Take care buddy. Take some time off if you need to.

wow, this blog was at the bottom of page 2. shame on me.
so, ive been playing alot lately, almost all w/ yogan. i feel like im getting steadily better, although still nowhere near where i want to be besides a few shining moments i do have, usually about 2-3 per session.
im definitely never gonna quit footbag... but it is so frustrating. at the same time, i want to stick with it for 5 years and see how good i am then. meanwhile though, i cant wait =]
ordered some quantum 3s finally! i got all white, and i think the orange thread makes them look even cooler.
i also got some all white vans classics recently.
i succesfully got my g.e.d. with honors, and got a load of money from my family, almost all of which (besides some for my qs and a few clothes) went straight to the bank. im feeling good because i actually think im gonna have enough money for school at anthem next year. so i am legit =]
after seeing a pic in the bags and equipment thread that eskimoe joe posted, im embarking on an epic stitching quest. all for myself, i am stitching a solid colored bag of every color i have enough fabric for, aka 20 some colors. they will all be 4stitch, and i individually trace and cut all panels. so it will take awhile, but im sure it will make the best picture the bags ive any sticher here made thread has ever seen, and solid bags break in awesome.
anyways, since this is a footblog, ill post some footbag highlights. mostly the same suff, but some new things.
-whirls bsos
-drifters bs
-dynos bs, but not really ever thrown
-almost pdx torque, but i want flip more than that.
-pdx wwhirl.. super sketchy, ill get better.
-rev whirls bs. i want these alot.
-lots of snappin pixie shuffle.
-atomic is completely back. needs more work tough.
-im starting to get fairies, which makes me happy.
-stepping is okay, i want it to be better though. stepping opp clipper helps get it high.
-lots of ducks, dives, weaves, zulus
-spinning clipper on one side, footed other. yogan gave me alot of good tips.
-atomic pickup. (weird bod movement)
-ps mirages bs
-toe ducking moves, ducking far legover
-osis is either perfect or terrible hah
well, i hope to see someone soon... i dont even know what the next tourney ill go to will be for once... when's sjff? i want to come to nyj again, last year was a blast. well see. peace out everyone.

Hey Cale,
Looks like your game is really nice!! I've wanted to write you ever since I've come back from Worlds in Prague. It was a great experience (don't believe ALL the negative hype!!).
Well... at least... the red and white bomb bag I bought at GC is now at a PERFECT stage!!! Even Kevin Regamy, Anz and other big players commented on the bag saying it was a really great bag. The whole Danish crew more or less prefer that bag over any in Denmark at the moment. And if you watch my sister's (Lise) final routine bringing home a silver medal, you'll see your own bag in action. At all her competitions she wanted to play with it!!!
The black, white and green is currently on the way to becomming just as good!!
Just wanted to let you know and give you high quality props for your bags!!!
Hope you're good... Say hi to Yogan and the other Eugene crew.
Best, Anne
