That's totally cool.

I'm going to wait until I get the final word on getting time off work, then maybe start a thread in Journeys to Tourneys.

Camille, even if you and Mike don't come with me, it looks like I can probably wrangle up enough other people to make it worth it anyway.

So Camille's out. Mike is still on the fence, which is cool. Mike, if you let me know shortly after I get the final word from work, I can get on filling the rest up. More word will come Wednesday or Thursday.

Thanks for your input guys.

Sweet. The sooner the better, cuz if you are flying, Mike, it'd be cool if we could still fly together.

So whats the deal with Canada day? I want to spend the whole day at the beaches. Shred>relax>rpt. Then stick around for sky explosions. Everyone else want to do that too? When should we meet?

Yes, I want to do that too. Wouldn't mind going at like 2. Not sure I'll play but I'll hang around, and hopefully we'll be having a bbq, so I'll cook when I don't play. I have a lot of friends coming so there'll be a nice big group chilling. Bring your girlfriends!

I just played in the shade of a tree outside my house for 4 AND A HALF HOURS!!!!

It was fucking wicked! :D

I was unsure about shredding at first because my ankle is still a bit messed, but once I had warmed it up and it felt fine, I just kept going.

Aw man... I have never played so long by myself before, and I've never felt so good about it. It was amazing. I fucking love footbag!

Of course I had to take certain things easy because of the ankle... It's been a month since I've tried any actual shred... and I definitely didn't work on everything... but overall, it was great.

I never really give any recaps of my sessions... but I'd like to now... although these aren't really highlights as much as just some of what I did:

-Some nice longish runs of 2s and 3s... But for the most part I veered away from freestyle strings because I'd forget about my ankle being so sensitive and end up doing something I shouldn't.

-Lots of whirls, toe whirls, pdx whirls. My strong pdx whirl is clean as ever, but flip whirl still needs some work. Bad ankle (flip) didn't help in that regard.

-So many far osis>far osis>rpt that the incurred dizziness nearly made me vomit

-Lots of bubbas, pdx illusions, far pick-ups and far guays.

-Shitloads of butterfly>pdx mirage bsos

-Ducking! I've never really given ducking a serious attempt before, I think because I never really play alone and it's just so embarrassing to try around others. But it turns out that I can duck! haha... I hit a bunch of ducking clippers, mostly set from clipper on my strong side, but from toes and outsides on my flip; because my flip ankle is fucked, I just couldn't get the set high enough from that clipper. Oh well, I made do. What also sucks is that because my hair is so long, I pull it back into a bun when I shred, and it TOTALLY gets in the way of ducking. I might have to resort to Matt Cross' sumo styles. ;)

-LOTS of x-body rakes!!! and x-body rake bsos, which made me giggle. :)

Also worked on:

-stepping (getting better), swirl (getting closer), pixies (they actually suck more now than they used to), and DLO... which is so frustrating- I've been so close for years but never really practiced it... I think I need someone to help me out with the timing... I also briefly tried DSOs, barrages, and paradons; they have always been close but are getting closer.

I really need to play alone, all the time. I had started doing it regularly this summer, but then hurt my ankle. I'm totally getting back into it now. Carefully, of course.

I think I'm also gonna bug Paul Toews to start coaching me again. I learn best from people. Not machines.

It's kinda sad that I haven't really pushed myself at all in the past 6 years that I've been playing. I had to push at first of course, but then I just became content with what I had. I think that it had a lot to do with the guys quitting... They got me playing, taught me a lot, supported and encouraged me, and played with me on a regular basis. They are my best friends and we still chill, but just don't play, and I hated playing alone. But there's no excuse. I know I have a lot of potential and I'm excited to start taking this shit seriously. I feel so differently about footbag lately, it's kinda weird. I used to think, "there are so many tricks I can't do, I suck, blah blah blah..." but now I'm thinking "there are so many tricks I can do, I just haven't done them yet."

I think being injured wasn't the worst thing for me. It confirmed my new found interest in the sport, and made me realize how much I just really want to play. All month long, I was torturing myself by reading the forum and watching videos way too much. After today I like playing alone. But we'll see if that wears off with the joy of just being able to play again.

I know that my injury is nowhere near as serious as it could have been, and I feel so terrible for people who have had to go through a lot worse. But I recognize that I'm not healed and this could still be really bad. I'm trying to be careful and I'm going to do what I can to get better.

Man... what a good sesh. I only took a brief break to eat freshly baked Jamaican patties my dad brought home, and then an even shorter break when I was hit with a slew of texts & calls about weekend plans. Oh, there were also neighbourhood kids having a water balloon fight around me, that was funny, and a few of them tried to kick with me a bit. Fun day.

And yeah, 4 1/2 hours! I would have kept going too, but my hip flexors are KIIIIIILLING me!!

Sorry I've written so much in our communal blog! As long as everything goes well and I don't injure myself more, I might even resurrect my own footblog. :P

:D :!:

Nice!! 4.5 hours in this heat is crazy! I am obligated to inform you that the Government of Ontario demands you check the air-quality index next time you try such a crazy stunt.

I played for an hour todayf. It's been over a week since I played last. I can't be too hard on myself though. I've just been spending more time drawing and painting.

huh! really?? It was nice in my area... keep in mind I'm in Scarborough and also relatively close to the lake. The air was clear... it was definitely hot but I was getting such nice breezes and even my room (top floor of an un-air conditioned house) was quite comfy. I wouldn't have done what I did if my environment felt at all unsafe. I suppose I should check next time though.

I am VERY happy to hear you are creating!! :)

Shred TUUUUESDAY woo! Everyone like burgers? Any veggie heads in tha house?

And like, who is for sure coming anyway?

OK....

So I am officially a Hackrifice no-go.
My job at a new store is slated to open literally THAT WEEK, and as a future manager I really need to be there. These are the sacrifices I need to make. I feel bad about this but at the same time I need to keep my career in mind and am very excited about what I get to do.

Anyway, the worst part about it is that I may have inspired false hope in people about the possibility of renting a van to go. If that was you, I'm truly sorry. You should go pimp yourselves out a bit and buy a plane ticket!

Erik... I really tried, buddy. I'll send $ with Mike for a shirt or two and maybe a new bag.

Here are some fool-proof directions for you:

Walk south until your feet are wet (Lake Ontario). Turn left.

I might come out for a couple hours tomorrow afternoon.

Some good directions from union would be helpful (which bus/streetcar to take?)

2pm and at the Olympic Swimming Pool

The only way that I know to get there is from Woodbine Station and then take a bus (woodbine south bus) and its right thur (Get off at Lakeshore or when the bus begins to turn). Don't know how to get there any other way.
