I've updated the attendance list.

We can probably count on an appearance from the Davidsons, right?

OKay so now there are 14 confirmed guests on facebook, which include Kamil, Tom K, Gmoney, and I. So actually only 10, but i have a feeling only half of those people will actually show up.

So, about the food/ stuff to bring. I think we should have a check list.
I'll supply:

-grill(s), i think im going to bring my small grill to cook ribs and anything that'll take longer.
-charcoal
-lighter fluid,
-ribs
-possibly steak pinwheels, burgers, or stuffed portobello mushrooms, I'll see what i can afford/ want to prepare.
-table?
-chairs?

SNAFU

The Chicago Folk & Roots festival is taking up all of Welles Park this weekend. It isn't on the park district calendar, I only found out randomly today that this is going on.

We need to pick a different park or a different weekend.

I say relocate.

Options:

-if you go two blocks west from Welles there's Horner Park which is about three times bigger than Welles, there's usually a LOT of people all over, not much concrete and lots of trees, so maybe not adequate for net or freestyle.
-Independence is usually filled with baseball/soccer games on sundays but still a possibility
-I've played a pickup game of ultimate at Revere park a few months ago, on Irving and Rockwell. They have tennis courts that are usually dead, a parking lot with a pretty leveled surface, and plenty of flat grass.

I do not think we will have as many problems at Revere Park. What do you guys think? Any other parks that aren't too far?

Edit: look at Revere in street view on Google Maps. Type "Campbell and Byron Chicago, IL"

Does this have to be in the city?

Prosel Park in Lincolnwood right near me has a nice big outdoor shelter with flat concrete. There is also a huge huge field for net.

fyi-lincolnwood is right next to skokie

I think I.P. is out. Might be too small for our shenanigans, plus grilling and freestyle would be at opposite corners of the park.

I just rolled through Horner. Horner doesn't have any freestyle space. 9pm on a Monday and the tennis courts were still packed.

^Prosel Park sounds cool. Problem is a lot of the attendees don't have cars. Also google can't find it. Scary stuff, man.

Revere looks nice, I guess it must have been an old elementary school? Looks like nobody knows about it, but its maintained. We could freestyle on the tennis courts, grill in the baseball diamond, and have net in a baseball field, and also be right next to a water fountain.

Just spoke with Tom, he's looking for a good beach spot. If we can get a spot for freestyle, squares, net, grilling + beachy goodness that would be Baronness Von Tittzenberg.

Check back for updates shortly.

Revere has afterschool programs and is a where the "Neighborhood Boys and Girls club" meets. I was thinking, depending on the amount of people/ cars around we could have the grill in the parking lot and have freestyle either in the parking lot too(dont remember if the cement is leveled enough) or on the tennis courts.

Edit:I was just on google maps and found Brands park on California and Henderson. Very isolated, i will check it out tomorrow and give feedback.

My brother and I used to ball at Proesel when they used to have the 8 foot hoops! It's on Lincoln & Kostner (between Pratt & Thouy). It is a really great park but I totally agree with Frank that the lack of public transportation (only Pace 210) will keep people away. Never underestimate the laziness of hackers.

Revere seems promising so far. I'm just worried about the baseball diamonds since it's the only grass available to set up near freestyle. Freddy, can you call the park field house and make sure there are no games or leagues scheduled to play this Sunday? It's best not to assume anything. We should do this for any park where the baseball field is the only option to set up net & squares in the grass.

I'll take a ride around Warren Park after work today. It's just north of LaRAZA on Western & Pratt. It's a huge park but more than half of it is a golf course and there aren't to many practical spots for freestylers & grilling. Oh, it's a little ghetto too :?

fucking birthday jams...

OKAY, so Revere is looking like our best bet so far. Zeke is out to check out other parks and I think Nathan and Tom too. I just called Revere Park and the field is reserved for ultimate frisbee on sunday. A field is slightly longer than a football field but there's alot of grass so net is still possible.
