Quick update.
Ultimate was very disappointing.

I have a strained right quad and there is something wrong with my shoulder blade.

Im going to Northeastern University.

My school had this huge carnival and battle of the bands to celebrate the class of 2008, the 100th graduating class which is going until Monday. I volunteered to help sell stuff at a tent for the school's art department, but ended up running back and forward between the stage to watch the bands that my friends are in and the art booth. There was a guy doing caricatures, there were mugs, night lights, glass pedants, magnets and shirts from ceramics class and photos, postcards, and a few other things from the art classes. It was so fucken fun! What a good way to end the school year! I am also planning to attend Bike the Drive on Saturday, a 30mile bike ride on one of Chicago's most famous streets, Lake Shore Drive.

My biannual trip to Fogo de Chao is planned for this coming Friday. Can't wait to stuff myself with various meats.

I've been on this loose diet and exercise program. Lost 8lbs in 4 weeks so far. Aiming for 186lbs or enough so i can get within 10-12% body fat.

and... I guess I will miss High school, I really feel like i have just started to get to know a lot of people this year and its sad that I won't see most of them again. Hope college is as good of an experience people make it sound.

I will begin posting in here again, starting... now

not too much has been going on but heres a recap:

I place first in Midwest regionals intermediate circle comp, my first competition.

So i am officially a full time college student. Only have classes on Mondays Wednesday and Fridays(classes start the last week of august). Iunno why but i feel weird about everything going on right now, especially college cause i have so much stuff to take care of. I have so much fucken paperwork to fill out and turn in.

I'm taking 4 classes,
English
Algebra
Psychology
Anatomy/ body movements

I am also going to be taking full advantage of the PE complex. Im joining boxing and MMA, maybe table tennis and im still going to lift.

I have to wait until i come back from Thailand to get a job cause i can't take 3 weeks off right away. I hope i get that job at Urban Outfitters or Whole foods.

I'm going to head to the gym and play come footbag and lift a little, not in that order. YES that is right, i am back into freestyling, because i dont feel like jogging and its a lot more fun.

Bday Jam better work out!

CIC bday jam was awesome.

The only bad part was the night before because i did Chicago's L.A.T.E ride, an annual 26mile bike ride that starts at 1am and lasts until the sun rises. I rode to the train station with this single speed bike that i spend a good four hours building(1 mile), then after arriving to the train station i rode to Buckingham Fountain(.5 miles). It was now 12:30am and the ride didn't start until 1:30am, so my friends and I just got some free Vitamin water, water, all purpose cleaner, and some electrolyte drink then sat around until they released the waves, there were about 10,000 participants in this year's ride so they color code people(with tags, not skin color) and let people go in the set color order/waves. My friends and I found our way into the blue wave, the first wave of people. All was going fine, my bike is unbelievably smooth until we start going uphill, which only meant one thing... we would have to go back down. Once we started going down my brakes give out so i try jumping off my bike and hold it back with my hands and legs. NOT a good idea, one of the teeth on my chainring digs into my upper ankle, tearing a few layers of skin off and some other part cut my knee, blood was dripping down my ankle. I had so much adrenaline going i didnt even notice until later, and its not as bad as it sounds. So i get back on my bike and decide to go home and switch my bike for a mountain bike i have because our route passes by my house anyways. So after slowing my friends down and just coasting most the way we stop by my place and i get the other bike. We get to the pit stop/half way point and get some bananas and drinks.

From here I just start flooring it, passing everyone up. It was like the Beyonce song "to the left, to the left" cause i would say it out while passing others to make sure they dont change lanes. We take a break cause my friend starts cramping up. When he's okay we head to Navy Pier where some of my other friends are at because one messed up his bike. We watch the sunrise from the end of Navy Pier then I turn my friend's bike into a single speed cause his shifter broke in half(it was a walmart bike). So we finish the ride, escort Fang to the red line and three of my friends(Goran, Allen, and Truc) and I head to my house on our bikes(10.5miles), Goran heads home once we get to my house cause he live pretty close. I get home, shower, then we all(Allen and Truc) nap for two hours. So i rode approximately 38 miles, less than the 50miles i did for bike the drive followed by ultimate. I wake up and finish making burger patties for
the bday jam and wait for Fang to come back and pick us up in his car.

We get to the Jam and I immediately jump at the grill cause we were all starving. I ate 3 burgers, 2 steak pinwheels, 2 hotdogs, 1 corn dog, bunch of grapes, watermelon(lol), bunch of chips, pasta salad, and a bit of cheese throughout the entire jam. I tried freestyling but my legs were still jelly.

imma do some of this, bye bye now. Image

I dont know if i want to freestyle anymore. I have given it a lot of thought. I played with Nathan the other night and it was fun but when i got home my knees were just throbbing. I do not think it is worth playing anymore. Its not over though, I will always be a foursquare player.

So yesterday was my first MMA meeting and i was not sure what to expect.
I biked in the rain to NEIU's PE complex and went to the Auxiliary gym. I saw a guy outside and asked if i was in the right place, he told me yes and to go and change. So I change and come back out to the Aux and join the instructors, Andrew and Jay, along with these other guys Vince(john mahood with longer hair), Marco, and some other guy i dont know his name.

Andrew is about 5'8 160, Jay's like 5'4 120, Vince is like 5'7 130, and Marco was about 6'0 200. So we do stretches and warm ups. Andrew walks me through the guards and some basic chokes and submissions, then him and Jay are like "okay, now lets do some iron mans", which is like: person1 is in the center of the mat and person 2 rolls with him until someone taps out, then person1 rolls with person3, then person4, then person 5, then once person1 get through all the people person2 begins the next rotation. (Note: Andrew took it easy on me cause i'm not advanced enough yet)

Andrew started it off with Vince and quickly got vince to tap out, then i was up. I was on the mat for a long ass time with Andrew, he was getting kinda tired after the first few minutes i was in his guard, until i was able to break free and get a rear mount with a shitty rear naked attempt that he spun out of, getting into my full guard. I kept trying a kimura but it was just too slippery. I pull his head closer to try a guillotine and i woulda had it if he wasnt so sweaty. Eventually he got free and took me out with a rear naked choke which i tapped out real quick(my neck is still really sore).

My next roll was with Vince who isn't as experienced as Andrew, Jay and Marco, but more experienced than me. This was another long match with back and forward attempts. More misses with the guillotines and kimura, but i totally had him beat until he breaks my guard, gets a side mount, fakes an americana, and gets me with an arm bar.

I ask Andrew about what i was doing wrong and to counter an armbar.

Jay(currently undefeated in competition in his weight class, flyweight), our fight stalled out after like ten minutes of me sweeping him and escaping all the arm bars and guillotines he threw at me. I had some okay attempts but he was just too quick and and had some good D.

Marco. Now Marco was in the Marines and has been training Jiu Jitsu since he was 17, he's 22 now. He was the only person there in my weight class and one of the more experienced guys. He took a few seconds to feel out my style(which i don't have yet) then tried to take me down, ended with me on bottom with him in my guard. I had no idea what he did but in a split second he broke my guard and had me in an Omoplata which i still dont know what that is yet. Yeah, i tapped like a bitch, and that was it.

The practice was about 4hours long, and i haven't been this sore since football... I love it.

...i am currently 0-4 in the iron man. I can't fucken wait for Tuesday!

So i have been thinking footbag a lot lately but same with MMA. I haven't gone to a meeting for a week cause i'm helping remodel the house and i've got stuff to take care of. Life isn't too bad right now, just finding time for everything is the hard part.

Oh, i'm also working at Jewel now. The one on Foster and Pulaski, I stock shelves and put up displays for $.50 more than minimum wage.

MMA-wise, I'm slowly learning submissions, my sparring record is now 13-12, i went 6-1 last meeting i went to and i made a guy tapout in half guard by just squeezing his leg. I do have some rolling vids on my phone but no idea how to put them up.

I dont think any of you know but my dog passed away in November, he was eleven and about to turn twelve on feb7, the day before my birthday. Also my grandmother had a stroke yesterday and just passed away today at 6:10pm. I have been crying nonstop since a found out, she was the one who took care of me when i was little and the last time i saw her was two weeks ago. I seriously don't think i can shed another tear.

Second semester at NEIU has just started and i'm going for straight A's.
taking 5 classes: Phil101: Critical thinking, History of East Asia, Chem 103, Art history, and Intro to Communications.

I started practicing MMA after a one month break and got right back into it. Rolled for 4 hours straight, only stopped for water breaks and 2 phone calls. Started drilling with Vaughn who's a former student from Gracie Barra and this guy who started a semester before me. Learned the gogoplata and modifications for a triangle yesterday. My neck is still killing me, my lip is still cut and im all bruised up.

Rolled with Samir who's about 220. Best of 3. he beat me the first time, dont even remember how, then i beat him the last two with a modified kimura in guard and a modified gogoplata that i learned from Vaughn. Rolled with Vince and he tapped out from exhaustion, was a victim for Jay, one of the instructors, in showing the new guy some basics, got beat by Vaughn(150lbs) 3 times, then Josh came...

I have never been scared of someone until I met Josh, a cage fighter with a purple belt and 2-0 with a tapout and KO in his records, i'd die if i had to spar a brown or black belt. I rolled with him 12 times in about 30 minutes and he made me tap EVERYTIME. Both my arms couldnt even move one of his! Everytime passed his guard he would just sweep me effortlessly and the next thing i knew i was tapping out. I got some good advice from him with triangles.

I really want to see the BJ penn GSP fight tomorrow, but i probably wont be able to.

thats it for now. It'll probably be a while until i post again.

oh, yeah, i tore some ligaments in my knee a couple days ago during MMA. The orthopedic said I'll be out for 2-4 weeks. It was originally 6-8 weeks but when I went back they said it wasnt as bad as they thought. I've gotta brace on it and im on crutches. My knee has gotten a lot better, its just super stiff.

EDIT: my bad, i didn't tear any ligament, they were just over stretched too quickly? something like that.
