not that u really care but i got hit with some terrible news concerning doners a couple days ago and i really need to vent about it. our favorite kebap joint, merhaba, closed down. this is a huge deal! no really it was like the worst moment of my life, not only did we know and love the employees there (they gave us all merhaba shirts a cpl years ago), but it was hands down the best tasting/cheapest doner place in town, and they served cheap drinks, too (including raki, this insane liquor u cant find newhere else). it was also the ONLY place in our entire town open 24 hrs! not even gas stations are open 24 hrs in germany! so our routine was to go out for long night of drinking, chilling, bike riding, dancing, whatever, and then grab a doner and a nightcap on our way home at like 5 am. it was the fucking golden goose of all doner kebap joints and now if we want doners we have to settle for some shitty star kebap house which closes at midnight or so. what a sad sad story. sorry about this ive been up for like 30 some hours trying to fix my sleep schedule and it doesnt help that i kicked myself sore on 2 different occasions since i last slept.

I've got pixie DLO both sides, it's just too hard for me to confidently hit in G-units, so I didn't do any (I was trying to make sure I had decent string length for recording purposes, so I backed off of some tricks). Haha, I love the spins. I'm just now learning to do them, so they look ridiculous. Arm in the air like a ballerina or something. It's great. It'll take some time to learn them right, but, hey, that's the fun of it.
Tonight was one of the most fun nights in about as long as I can remember.
First off Jake, Matt and Myself had the pleasure of performing for our Friend Margee's roller derby, and it was awesome.
Afterward Jake, myself, and a really cool friend of his went swimming in the Allegehny river. Which reminds me, I should really take a shower. But that wasn't the end. We then went for drinks at a roller derby after-party, where I got to hang out with one of my favorite people, one of my managers from the only job I was ever fired from. It was a blast. It felt great to catch up after years of no talk. In some ways he always felt like an older brother to me, so I am hoping that we will keep up our dialogue.
Now, here I am. Covered in unknown pathogens from swimming.
So remember:
1) The Blade Runner soundtrack is never as good as it sounds in a restaurant run by you and your friend, all by yourself, after a night of getting paid.
2) The Movie Thief is better than anything else that come out since. Don't you dare challenge me, motherfucker! I'll get my dad on you!!!!
3) Apocalypse Now is not only a great movie, but the end speech is worth checking out a second time.
4) Don't forget to shower when you need to.

Haha, I wouldn't have it any other way. Shredding for a roomful of folks is great, and there are no two kids in the city that I'd rather do it with than Ian and Jake. Plus my knees now make tons of exciting new popping noises when I stand up, sit down or make any distinct movements whatsoever. Yay footbag!

My knee is seriously dying though. A friend slept over last night and said that I was moving that one leg around in my sleep, like non-stop, twitchy style. She woke me up yelling, "Hey, why are you doing that?!" because it was freaking her out. Haha, surely this is not a good sign.
I did some drills for an hour in the park yesterday and some dude and his 4 yr. old kid watched. The kid clapped every time I dropped. I was trying to hit stuff like skullsmasher<skullsmasher and alpine pixie legover<alpine fear, so I was dropping incessantly too. He didn't seem to care one bit. After a while he asked if I would play with him, and I said, "sure, want to kick it?" No, he didn't. Instead we played a game where we spun around in circles and then threw his ball cap into the air and tried to catch it. He won.
Not that it matters. I'm in.

I submitted an invoice today, billing an organization for Steel City Freestyle's services as footbag performers/teachers. It was a pretty awesome transaction to carry out.
I've been a pretty lazy footbag player this summer, as Matt and Ian could well attest. But I'm happy that SCF is digging it's feet into this Pittsburgh scene a little bit, and I'm glad to be a part of that.

I have not had the chance to kick since Sunday, but I did spend night the working on some last minute changes for the NYFA Jam logo, so my heart is still in it. Though I must admit I am in one very bitchy mood.

Yo, I'm going to be in pittsburgh, sans wife/kids, the weekend of August 2nd (my mom's surprise 60th birthday party is that weekend). I have b-day festivities on Saturday, but am trying to think of a way to shred with you guys.
One thought would be... if one of you can pick me up at the airport, I'd try to fly in on Friday, we could shred and then hang out. If I was able to crash at someone's appartment in a little bit of comfort (i.e. a couch or sleeping pad), I think I can get my cousin to come pick me up in the city the following morning (saturday) and bring me to the birthday party. Then my folks will cart me around until I leave.
The other thought would be.. fly in Saturday, cousin picks me up at airport for party, then on Sunday, schedule a late in the day flight so that I can shred with you guys (my folks would drop me in the city for the shred session).. after shred, one of you drops me at the airport.

I can put you up in my apartment for sure, if you end up going with the first plan. I just moved into this new place with my friend and it's pretty big for just the two of us. We have two futons that fold out into really comfortable beds too, and plenty of food.

Dave: Normal sneakers but consecutive insides by the end of the day, natural drive for both-sidedness, and interest in clippers and butterflies.
Tyler: Great shoe box after all on those NTRN's. Both-sidedness and variety of tiltless moves. Extremely exaggerated but rapidly improving clippers. Once he gets more comfortable with varying toe sets for each trick he will make a major leap I think.
Jake: Long casual strings. The most casual torque I have seen him do popped up today. Perhaps that means it will show up more regularly now. That would be cool.
Matt: witch doctor both sides, probably bsos. atomic-ducking illusion,. voodoo. Nuclear illusion. Toed atomic ducking eggebeater. I think he hit some other things too. Like atomic flail. Don't remember if it was bsos.
Me: No whirls. At all. Paradons were strong. Ducking was strong, still, after learning a bunch last weekend. Hit many blurs on my right side. One out of paradon. One or two on the other side.
