I think its cool that your enthousiasm for the game (games) has lead you to discover new things and meet people who you otherwise would have virtually no contact with, even if it hasn't felt like these encounters have been 100% successful. Even the most successful people encounter many failures on their paths to success. I read something to the effect that J. K. Rowling was rejected numerous times before finding a publisher for her first Harry Potter book. And I think Confucius is sometimes attributed with having said ""Success is falling down seven times and getting up eight." Then again, I've also heard that it was Paulo Coelho who was responsible for that little gem. Furthermore, I've always thought that there was something not quite right about that saying -- I mean, if you were to fall down, you would then pick yourself back up, thus, fall down once, get up once. So, it seems like you should say "fall down 7 times, get back up 7 times (not 8 )", since you cannot get back up more times than you'd actually fallen down. So, like, nice going Confucius, way to count... Anyway, this all sounds interesting and I'd like to hear more.

That DOES sound like a pretty rough day. But look on the bright side -- it could have been worse -- at least you didn't get beaten up.

To keep going back to those tired old inspirational sayings, particularly of the Eastern variety, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." And more locally, "quitters never win, winners never quit." At least, not after just one try. Don't quit yet -- I still want to hear some more horror stories of your ill-advised and ill-fated attempts to fit in where you don't belong. jk. Better luck next time.
