I think I can safely say, without exaggeration, that today was one of my worst sessions in my 11 years of footbag.
Lowlights:
*Within my first 3 strings of the day, I pinched a nerve in my neck. I'm guessing this will heal/pass in a day or two. It fucking better.
*A few strings later, I bobbled my camera and dropped it. Even though it fell less than 3 feet and landed on carpeted floor, I broke it.
So yeah, no more YouTube videos from me, as I no longer have a camera. Hope you enjoyed the era of videos. I know I'll miss it.

Sorry to read about the neck. You need a better camera anyway. Not that that camera did not make mine, yours and many other people's lives better.
On another note, it's too bad to hear you talking about retiring. I feel like I'm just getting started. Hopefully we both will be able to play a lot longer.

Neck still hurts, I'm still bummed about my camera, and life is keeping me really really busy. Logistics for this weekend in NYC are also proving to be more difficult than I'd hoped. Gah. Hopefully my neck will feel good tomorrow and I'll have a fun session and get pumped up again.
In more bizarre news, it turns out that I was able to take off a week between my summer job ending, and my new job beginning. I totally thought that would be impossible, but somehow it happened. What makes that a little bittersweet, is that's the week of Worlds in Prague!
D'oh! Really though, I can't complain about having a week off. I couldn't have known it would happen, and even if I did know in advance, I'm still not sure I would have decided to go. The bottom line is I have a week off from work for the first time since Christmas, and I'm excited for that no matter what I do.
That said, there's one more wrinkle that makes things interesting. Last summer I gave up my seat on a flight in exchange for a travel voucher. While that voucher proved impossible to use from Arizona (it's a Northwest Airlines voucher, and they don't have a hub in AZ), and hence unusuable for going home, I now live in DC. I did a spot check tonight, and it looks like I would be able to go to Chicago or Montreal pretty much for free during the week of Worlds. To help me decide where to go, I decided to make a contest. I assume a bunch of people will be at Worlds, but for those who are still around, this could be a fun little trip for me. I think it could also be fun for somebody who lives in the middle of nowhere and never gets to tournaments. The one thing limiting me really is the ticket, which sadly won't fly EVERYWHERE in the continental US. Still, this could be fun.

yo, be really careful with your neck. I pinched a nerve and spazzed a muscle in my neck 2 years ago while building my porch.. In my case, I had to go to emergency room because it was REALLY bad (shooting pain to extremities, numbness in hands etc.). To this day, I have to be very mindful of when the pain starts to creep up on me - if I attempt to push through it, big problems. Also, I have a stretching routine that I do before any exertion (including building, yard work, lifting weights, footbag, shooting hoops) that helps loosen up my neck.
Yours may not be this extreme, but might be worth adding the stretches for your neck to help avoid it becoming this extreme in the future.
Fly to Philly (ha ha)

Neck still feels off, but I feel nervous taking off so much time right before a tourney. I think I'll get in a light session today and just avoid ducking tricks and anything strenuous. I just want to break a sweat and make sure my legs still remember the basic motions.
I told my Mom last night that my week off coincides with the week of Worlds, and she almost talked me into going. I decided I would set a price for tickets in my head ($1200-1250), and if I found tickets for that price I would go. I checked, and for a moment I got excited when I found tix for $1100, but then I saw there were like $400 in taxes. The best I could find was $1380, including taxes. Oh well. It was an intriguing possibility and I had fun considering it, but I'm OK with not going. Tonight I'm going to look into possible fares for Kansas City, Boise, and Montreal. I think I'll look at Toronto as well. Hopefully I can have a fun little trip during that week.
I should finish my USO write-up and post that before it's completely irrelevant.

I am almost 90% recovered from my pinched nerve.
I've read online about repetitive stress injury and believe thats probably what happened. Also my poor form leaves my big head hanging down too far which puts all the stress right between my shoulder blades.
Bob, I had to go to Urgent Care and take time off work. The worst part was in the morning when I needed to get up, the first few days it was near impossible to lift my head off the ground....( I sleep on the floor ).
I haven't done much in 2 weeks, let alone footbag. Good luck Ken, Ice and heat and rest.
I'll be working on my form when I come back

Ken, hopefully your neck will be fine for the NYFA tournament this weekend. Don't stress yourself too much.
As for your Phoenix Suns 32, I'm almost complete with it. I just want to know if you want the filler to be same as the rainbow 32 I made for you. PM me back about it.
See you soon.

Shortly after USO I wrote:
In good news, my neck feels 90% back to normal. In less-than-ideal news, I haven't had much of a chance to play lately. I'm moving apartments this week, so between the moving, the cleaning, and my neck, I have hardly played at all recently. My last session was on Sunday, and my neck injury cut that short. So my last legit session was like a week ago. Not exactly ideal training before a tournament, but what can you do. Last night I got in a quick 20 minute practice where I mostly just tried to break a sweat and remind my leg muscles what it is like to do a clipper. I also practice parts of my routine, and at the end I did a run-through without music that went very well. I'm going to try to get in a real session tonight, since it's my last chance to play before the actual competition. Despite my lack of playing, I have a good feeling about my routine this weekend.
I'm also excited about my travel contest. I'm not sure how I'm going to decide between Montreal and Chicago just yet, but I want to make a decision by early next week.
Stoked to see a bunch of you this weekend!

Good 1 hour session today where I took my time warming up, and stretched carefully afterwards. I mostly worked both sided drills in order to make sure my shit comes back flipsided, and also to work all the basic components. I did 3 routines during the course of the session, and overall I felt strong. Tomorrow I leave for NYC, and comp is the following morning.
Feel like a caveman writing highlights instead of showing them. This did have the advantage though that I wrote them in order, if that's of interest to any of you.
*2 bag pdx drifter, both sides.
*blw-gybas, both sides.
*whirl-pdx whirl rpt to drifter-pdx drifter repeat
*tomahawk-pdx drifter rpt
*blurrier-pdx whirl rpt to 5 or so tripless to a small run.
*First 10 seconds of routine...and I forgot my choreo? That's never happened. Weird.
*Dropless routine right afterwards.
*drifter-sidewalk rpt to pdx drifter-ripwalk rpt
*dyno-pdx drifter rpt, with like 5 contacts of blur-dim rpt and a scorp in the seal.
*strong 1 drop routine.
*run with gdlo and pdlo both bsos, plus 5 contacts of smear-plo drill.
*dropless routine.

The bag on the left is yours. The lighting is a bit funny in this picture, because the color "Imperial Blue" is actually and supposedly a very rich purple. It weighs in at a beautiful 61.4 grams, filled with smaller lead shot.
Expect it tomorrow!
