You should attach a velcro strap to go around your ankle and attach onto the laces area. That would be sick. If the weight distribution is right, they would be light as heck.

with a little, plastic portion cup strapped to that for heel stalls

If it does, try fabric glue, they sell it at Micheal's. Just apply it to the frayed part and give it about a day to dry and that'll fix it. Alternatively this works great if you mess up on any other laver mods.
