Rough schedule
Friday: tried to have a Friday night shred past couple years, no one ever shows. So I guess we could schedule one if there's interest

Saturday: get there early (8-9am) to secure spot and set up nets
-freestyle competition at 2pm. get it over and done and move on
-Net competition... loose, if you want to play both you'll have time
-wrap up around 6pm
-PLAYER'S PARTY at the clubhouse of my condo complex. Food TBA, BYOB.

Sunday:
-get there early (8-9 am) to secure spot and set up nets
-Awards 1pm ish
-Casual shred
-Net finals
-GOLF GOLF GOLF GOLF GOLF! JR always sets up awesome golf courses. I'm sure this will be no exception. This is always a great highlight.

There's gonna be all the usual Texas events:
--The Freestyle Bull-Riding,
--The Net Calf-Ropin',
--The Timed-Consecutive Barrel-Riding,
--The Tabbacky-Spitting Contest,
--The Armadillo Chili Cook-Off.

Seriously, though, I'm not especially concerned with which events run. Ken, on the other hand, is on a serious hot-streak with his 2-minute routines. You might want to consider running that event, Ben, just to get your money's worth out of Ken.

I had to push people really hard to do routines in 2006, and there was absolutely no interest in 2007.

However, Ken, JR will DEFINITELY give you a run for your money in routines. So if you're coming, routines are on, but be careful he's won more TX state freestyle tourneys that he can remember, his HOF status is well deserved. Not to mention net and golf titles, many with a metal plate in his leg.

In a week and a half!

We got lots going on. Kung Fu Kyle is coming out of retirement and will be there! I've done a lot more on the publicity front this year, hopefully that will turnout for the better. Sponsorships have been tough, everyone is broke!

I have a good feeling about this year's tournament, yes I do.

That was seriously awesome! Once again, thanks Ben for organizing and directing the event. We had a lot of really good stitchers donate prize bags, so that was great. We've got a lot of players in Texas with some mad skillz.. I sure wish Cody would have gotten some footage of it.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun. I'm glad that "Kung Fu" Kyle made a comeback. And it was really cool to see Jon "the Outsider" there too.

Thanks Mike! I was definitely pleased with how the event went too. Gonna try to be a little bit bigger and a little bit better every year.

Big ups to Louis Rinowski for stitching 5, count em FIVE prize bags for the event. Sorry you couldn't make it brobius. Also many thanks to Freedom Footbags for a very generous donation of LOTS of swag as well.

Other highlights for me:
-Heated game of net with Greg that was very close
-Looks of disbelief on people's faces when Kyle showed up
-Eating at Hai Ky while everyone told Jon how much they loved his section in "Tricks of the Trade 2"
-Chilling with Jon in general, wish I could have done more of that
-Seeing everyone really step it up in competition, especially in circle comp
-Playing mini-net, man that game is fun.
-Cody eating 10 granola bars in one sitting
-Jon and JR's crazy stories, footbag and otherwise

While I think getting in the paper is generally a good thing, I thought that article was horrible. It made footbag seem pointless (but aren't all sports pointles?) and it made footbaggers seem like hippies or motivated by Jesus (nothing against JR, I just don't think most footbaggers are driven to play by their love of Jesus, and so this isn't representative at all). There was also no mention of websites or resources which would educate the reader about our sport. Sorry to come off as a downer, but when we approach the media to cover our events, we need to be more careful how we frame and deliver our message.

while I can't disagree with Ken's analysis, might have been better to PM that analysis (you're still the man Ken, I'm just saying).

In any case, props on your event. Your enthusiasm is cool to see, and it sounds like everyone had a fun time.
