You just have to hand out on the boards a little bit. You will start learning names, and you will soon associate them with faces and stuff..
But had you read on, you would have noticed the author of the thread corrected himself by saying he meant a product catalogue.
Also, I would like to say that if a catalogue was developed, it would take away from the personalization of the sport. It will lose the maker-buyer interaction. That is very important to the sport.

There is a problem to making it a catalogue for footbags, not the shoes. If you made a catalogue so that you could send orders to mirken and carol and stuff, that'd be great, but they would be flooded with orders coming in all the time and you'd probably have to wait a really long time before they could even get time to make yours. The footbag shoes is a great idea and to improve on the laver would be hard, but it would be worth it. The magazine is an awesome idea, but i don't know about cataloguing footbags made by pros, it'd just piss them off a bit i think.
I'm all for it, I think it would be kind of difficult to do though. Maybe a club should try to publish a kind of catalog/magazine mix thats shorter than a normal mag. If a shoe was made it would have to be made by some of the best.
