Let´s get rid of Womens Competitions

I don't think that's a relevant argument. The existence of a women's competition in no way prevents you from competing in a different event, and unless the tournament director specifically says so, there is nothing to prevent you from competing in both women's and open/intermediate.

If your argument is; "I don't think there should be a women's division because then I have to make a choice, and choosing things is hard," then I don't think that's an issue tournament organisers or the IFPA should deal with.

I would wonder though that if everyone just straight-up gave their opinion and no-one questioned or challenged that, then no conclusions would be reached, no changes would be made (to people's understandings or to the sport) and the topic joins the untold numbers of other redundant topics.

I'm sorry. I'm using the word "argument" in the context of a position held in a discussion. I'm not using it so that you are arguing about anything in the context of a "disagreement." I will try to be clearer with my language in the future.

You are, of course, allowed to say whatever you like (apart from commenting on Jewish practices, which is apparently banned for being too "vulgar"). At no point did I say that you shouldn't express yourself, and I also apologise if that's what you thought. What I did say, utilising my equal right to say whatever I like, is that I don't think your comment was relevant to the discussion. The topic is supposedly about whether the IFPA and tournament directors should get rid of women's competitions from major footbag events or not.

Given that I'm on the IFPA International Footbag Committee and the IFPA Sanctioning Committee, I can assure you that I do take everything people say into consideration in every discussion I have within those particular committees. If I thought that there was a genuine and strong case for there not to be IFPA sanctioned women's events at IFPA sanctioned tournaments, I would definitely make that case to the relevant people, and likewise if I thought that a significant portion of people agreed with me about the need to either clarify or remove intermediate competitions from serious footbag events, I would attempt to make that happen as well (and there's a moderate chance I'll move to do that in the near future).

I'm sorry you feel that I'm "nitpicking." I'm merely trying to remove the insignificant arguments to see if there are any meaningful arguments in opposition to my view. By "arguments" I mean reasoned opinions that are not consistent with my opinion. I would never try to take real action towards a goal when I felt there was clear community opposition to that goal and a lack of consensus. At the very least that would mean that I could expect significant disagreement within the IFPA and very slow progress.

Footbag is a small enough sport as it is, and the amount of women playing it is even smaller. I think it should just be eliminated and everyone compete in the opens. I don't quite understand why there is a separate division for women in the first place.

the facts (as i understand them):
the terms "open", "intermediate" and "novice" relate to skill level NOT gender, race, political views, whatever. so even hemaphroditic nazi marsians could compete in open freestyle if they wanted to.
the "womens" division on the other hand is exclusive for women.
but it's really your own choice (woman) if you want to compete in the womens division or in one of the other three. a tournament director may allow you to compete in two divisions (i.e. womens and open).

but on subject:

i agree tat for most local tourneys men and women should compete together. but for various reasons big tournaments should have a womens division. especially tourneys like worlds and euros, national championships, etc. The power of titles is amazing! Ever since Tina holds the titles of european, world and swiss champion in footbag freestyle its been astonishing how much attention footbag has received in the media in switzerland. its simple: titles sell. it would not be half as effective if Tina were simply "the best female footbag player in the world" because she was the highest ranked in a mixed competition.
so i'm all for keeping womens divisions at major tournaments.
