Challenge Waylon Lew

Post by Wasabi »

I need some challenges. I've reached 20 tiltless already, and I would like some more. Anyone have any suggestions?

Current/constant drills:
-Osis, back to back.
-Clippers on each side (same side, alternating)
-Infinities & ss butter
-gyro clipper, spinning clipper, etc.
-ss mirage rpt.
-clipper > legover, clipper > ss legover rpt.

Working on:
-stepping op clip rpt.
-toe reverse whirl > pdx. mirage > legover rpt.

EDIT: Didn't realize how pickup-intensive those were. LOL. I used to hate that trick so I schooled it like crazy now I bail to it fairly often. Feel free to replace any pickups with legovers in the meantime. I think 20 tiltless is an awesome goal and schooling these links will definitely help you get there.

Dave, Nathan, I like your posts on how I should be drilling the basic stalls down to a tee.

I'll add one more, since I believe I need to concentrate more on being more accurate and gentle on my delays, than rushing toward them: 100+ inside stalls.

I don't think I do enough of the basic stalls as is. I rush too much.

I need more work on pickup. It's a move I rarely do, so I'll need to school on them a bit before I can hit them with confidence. Five pickups per side is my goal.

20 tiltless is something I want to achieve in my next NYFA session. Ben, I'll keep your links in mind when the weekend comes close.

I don't have any challenges to give you, but I thought you should know I am going to steal yours for my own. muahahaha! (cuz I don't feel like making my own challenge page...)

Edit: Oh no wait I lied, I challenge you (and myself) to 5 back to back infinities. Ready? Go! (first one there is a super cool kid)

Finished 100 toe stalls and inside stalls. This will be part of my pre-session warm-up. Got up to 10 clippers on my strong side, but 6 on my flip. My new goal is to hit 50 on each side (challenge proposed by Josh Penney).

I only got up to 273 kicks. I think I sort of crank a bit when I kick in Quantums, so my kicks aren't truly going straight, but my kicks always seem to be straight in G-units. Maybe it's the mesh? I'm sure to fix my kicking posture a bit so that I can hit the cap of 500, and then reach and finish my challenge at 1000.

I didn't touch Adrienne's challenge for 5 infinities yet. Today's session was supposed to be a truly tiltless session, so 2 adds only. I got up to 13 contacts, I believe.

- (ATW in>SS Mirage rpt)>(ATW out>SS Mirage rpt)
- Muted ss Illusion x 4
- Mirage>SS Legover>Illusion>SS Pickup>Legover rpt
- Infinity>SS Butter rpt (I don't even count these as 3's, I wouldn't really worry about doing them)
- SS Clip>Pickup>SS Butter>Near Mirage rpt

I'm in a discouraged footbaggin' phase right now, to the point where I'm just doing simple challenges. I've put off my desires to do any Hack Offs, competing and tourney-venturing until I fix my form.

Constant challenge:

15 clippers per side with good style and form, without hearing any sound coming from the delays.

Also, my Quantums have a huge hole on the side, so I'm in need of new shred shoes. I'm deciding whether to go into Quantums or Lavers. I found out my Lavers were slightly too big for me, but I want to play in Lavers because the mesh is stronger. I also have G-units, but whatev.

Butterflies will come later, after I make the 32 my bitch.

I should update this topic, seeing that I'm putting more focus on my drills and such. I haven't completed any challenges yet, but I have been ever so close to reaching them. Say, for a 20-cap drill, I would drop on either my flipside or drop around 15-19 (this being clippers, to be more specific).

I'm going to put several challenges that Matt Cross wanted me to do:
Matt Cross wrote:
  • 10 consecutive clippers on each side while jumping into the catches and hopping out of the sets.
  • 20 alternating clippers with this style for the catches.
  • then the same with butterflies.
  • then 20 alternating legovers
  • 20 sameside mirages.
This weekend, I'm going for 20 alternating legovers and same side mirages, and the clipper drills mentioned above. Alternating clippers are hard, but I'll find my rhythm very soon.

Someone challenge Adrienne! :P

While just shredding, I think I am about level with Waylon. But as far as what he can hit, he can hit more/harder stuff than me.

I noticed the challenges people were giving Waylon were on par with what I needed to practice, so I have been using them.

Just an update: I've been looking into these drills and challenges, but I have yet to complete them consistently. Sometimes my mind drifts away from dedicating my entire focus to the links and I just try to reach 20 tiltless contacts, so it's been a journey (and I need to get back on track). So, I'm going to compiel a small journal with the links everyone has listed here and dedicate my time working on them without worrying about my tiltless contact cap. It will be refreshing, and that's what I need at the moment, both mentally and physically.

Also, I haven't mastered pickup yet. It's a very frustrating move for me, and I usually replace/bail to a legover instead. I will try to dedicate more time into that particular move with my renewed focus toward challenges in future drills and sessions.

Also, I apologize for the inactivity / lack of response from myself. If I haven't completed a challenge yet, it's only logical that in my opinion that I don't respond about my progress. I will try to update my progress as best I can, either in this topic or in my footblog.

Most people's challenge threads update the first post with the challenges they've been given and completed, as it provides a ready list for the challegers to look at to see what's there, and what's been hit.

Just from quickly skimming, there are several people challenging throughout the first page, but as this thread grows into several pages, it'll be hard for challengers to keep track of what you've hit and what's been challenged.

Also they're not meant to be hit your next session or anything, they're sorta just supposed to stay on the list until you complete them, and then you move on by putting them into the 'completed challenges' section of that first post.

Ben Rea's challenge thread is an example of a good one, maybe check that out. As for any I have, how about:

 Ducking Clipper BS
 Drifter BS

Good luck!
