Wanna Shred in Toronto Aug. 15 and/or 16

Post by Outsider »

Hey,

I'm taking a little road trip this weekend, planning on hitting up the big Thursday-in-the-Square hacky sack jam in Buffalo, New York, this Thursday, August 14.

As I'm already way far up north and all, and I've never been to Toronto, not even a little, I thougth I'd like to see the place. Still, its about two hours from Buffalo, and I don't want to go both ways in just one day.

So, is there anyone in Toronto who can play host to the Outsider for a night or two? I'm cool on a couch, or even the floor...

Of course I also want to shred. Some. Casually. I'm getting old, ya know. Also, I'd like to see the city, and maybe some sort of artsy fartsy attractions there-in. I particularly like modern art.

I might bring a friend. I think most of you Canadian-type people know him. His name is Matt something-or-other... Crux? Crucifix? Whatever... Anyway, two couches might be needed.

Daaaang Jon! That's wicked! I was planning to go to Montreal this weekend but it can definitely be bumped to next weekend if you're gonna be around!

I will definitely kick and hang out with ya... Unfortunately I don't live in Toronto per se, I live in Scarborough (a suburb of Toronto) with my parents... so... I can't really help you out with crashing space... hm... I'll see if one of the other guys can.

Sounds fun! Bring that Crossbody fella for sure!

Okay,

Accomodations not-withstanding, I'm coming to Toronto to kick it this Friday and Saturday (I booked my own damn room  )

I want to see the city a bit, shred, and have a drink or two.

Who wants to join me? Post it here or send me a PM, and do it soon. Phone numbers would probably be good too, so I can call ya. Y'all can call me at 908-872-6707.

Also, I don't know my way around Toronto, not even a little, so suggest a place to meet (preferably some place very easy to find), and maybe offer some basic instructions on how to find it. Something like "Lets meet at the very very tall tower..."

I don't know exactly when I'm arriving yet, but I think I should have no trouble getting there by 1 pm on FRIDAY.

And send that stuff soon. I'll be on the road all day tomorrow, but I should be able to check back here late Thursday night.

edit #1: I'm coming on Friday, not Saturday.

edit #2: Royal Ontario Museum is half-price on Friday evenings - plus, its very near my hotel. Anyone want to join me?

Jon, count me in for the ROM on Friday, it's a date!

I will make a post full of info, sorry I couldn't be more helpful on crash space, I'll probably have my own pad in TO in a month or so, so next visit you will be treated right. I'll let you stay in the BAP suite. :P

There will be shred, there will be drinks, there will be merry laughter!

My phone number is 416 779 8467 and you can call that anytime because it's my cell.

I am stoked you're coming to visit! I will post more info tomorrow (Thursday).

Camille and I will be at the base of the really, really tall tower at 1pm on friday. Hope we can all hook up.

My cell is 647 880 0848.

PS sorry for not offering up crash space. I'm embarrassed that Toronto can't be better hosts to our guests. Honestly, my gf just doesn't appreciate me bringing home strange, sweaty boys for sleepovers.

          Oh, Mike.

Yeah we'll be there. :D

My legs are probably going to be dead. I played WAY too much tonight. Mike, after you left I stuck around with the contact jugglers and ended up shredding again (yay, get my nice clean clothes and newly refreshed body all sweaty again!) and teaching, and THEN I played again with PK on the subway (wtf) and at the station waiting for our bus.

It hurts, it hurts.

I'll survive.

And I think we might be joining at the ROM too!! I'd like to go there for as much time as we could, there's a lot to see. The half price thing starts at 4:30.

See you guys soon! :D

Hey Jonathan! It was great to meet you. Your game is wicked and I plan on leaning some Schneider-esque moves in the near future. Styley unusual shit is the way to go at my age. Demanding technical shred is best left to the young uns.

Hey Toronto!

I just wanted to say "thanks" again. Had a really good time this weekend.

Toronto is a great city, and the FAT makes for great company.

Tom, I've known you for a pretty long while now, but in all that time I don't think I've ever gotten to kick with you casually, you know, like, outside of big events when there were dozens of other shredders around to distract. I think I enjoyed jamming with you on Friday more than at any other time before, and I look forward to doing it again.

Mike, it was especially good fun pretending like we were gonna get on television. Got me all jazzed-up. Thanks for being there early, and everthing else. By the way, I love your illustrations on the FAT web-site.

Camilleon, you're excellent company in and out of shred circles, museums, and chic neighborhoods. I really appreciate all the good conversation. And thanks especially for that second day of shred, even when your poor legs were thrashed and deserved a break.

I wish I could have stayed longer. Hope to see you all again soon.

Rush Totally Rules, and so does Canada :!:

Thanks for making the trip up to the cold white north Jon!!

I agree, it was really nice to get to hang out, there's so much that can be learned from you!

Also, it's inspiring that you've been at it so long yet you're still totally willing to make a journey to some almost-random city to hang out and play with anyone that shows up.

I look forward to playing with you again soon, perhaps even in another casual setting, it was nice! :)

Jon, yet again, thank YOU!!! I had a FANTASTIC weekend shreddin and hangin out!!!

I feel like I learned a lot from you. :) It was so cool to play & chill one-on-one.

And thank you for making me laugh so much! The conversations were grrrreeaaat! Especially the ones about BAP and all you cool guys... and those about Rush hahaha.

One of the highlights:

At the Music Garden:

Jon: Has Rush ever played the Music Garden?
Me: I don't know... maybe.
Jon: Well they will today!!!

And then we totally kicked to Rush on his old skool portable speakers! haha
