Pixie Set, Barfly's cause me extreme pain in the groin area, pretty high up the groin (yes, near my balls!).
This is either caused by
-bad form
-overuse
-lack of flexibility
Not sure what I can do to avoid this or if others have similar problems. My flipside does not have this issue, but could come up in the future with more use.
Groin Injuries
Back in the day, I pulled my groin trying symposium illusion... It took at least 6 months to fully heal (not that I took it easy
)
I think it was cause by bad form, and lack of flexibility, since not only did I not know how to perform the trick correctly, but that part of me is probably the least flexible.
I've rolled my ankles Hard on many occasions, but never suffered any injury due to extremely flexible ankles...

Wanted to BUMP this post.
My groins are basically dying because of footbag in the last month. Ive played 4 times a week for about 2 months straight so its a decent amount plus one tournament which I played a lot.
Moves that kill are still:
Barfly (any double downs)
Atom Smasher
Pixie/Fairy
Its really frustrating and physio is giving me strengthening exercises but I just wonder if form is why or if my body just doesnt like it. Any tips for strengthening this area for footbag? Even doing a clipper is starting to bother me.

<- The video that got me into footbag freestyle. "The Torch's style is superbly technical, and in this clip he hits legbeaters and blurs all over the place."

I'm no expert on this, but since no one else has replied I'll tell you what I know.
A friend of mine had to take 1.5 years off of footbag because of a groin injury (I believe it was from trying too much atomic-gyro)
Yes. 1.5 years off. Wish I had better news for you.
Groin injuries take a long time to heal because
1) The muscle is not very big, or strong
2) The muscle is constantly used in day to day activity
I would say your best bet is probably just not to play, take time off. It sucks short-term but you gotta think long term. If you do play, warm up slowly and be sure to do groin stretches. Work on concepts that do not use the muscle a lot such as rakes, fliers or pinchers.
Once when I was really sore I spent pretty much a whole session working on rakes. Sounds stupid but I went from being unable to do them to pretty darn proficient.

I had a groin injury last year that wasn't too bad, but it took about 2 months to stop hurting completely. I think I stopped shredding completely for about a month, and then went into once a week, twice a week and gradually got back into my old routine.
The other day I had a VERY minute groin pain, but it went away within a day. It did scare me though, so I started doing a few groin stretches before each session.
Anyway, my advice is to definitely stay off it for a month, or if you do continue do only basic moves that do not irritate that area. As the pain begins to lessen gradually get back into weekly and semi-weekly sessions. You may also want to rub Aspercream or a similar ointment to alleviate pain and cut down on inflammation which will aid in healing.
I would lay off the stretching of that muscle until after the first month. Best to leave it alone and let it heal. Good luck.

Check out this site Jeff. I used to use it often, and it's a great resource for sport injuries

Also, maybe try sending a PM to Andrew Grant or Aaron Orton. They both are very knowledgeable regarding injuries.

Hi, i have the same problem. To avoid some in groin try do not play about 1 or 2 weeks. And use some warm up gels. One my friend tells that For full liquidation of pain i must dont play more than one month, but, you know, thats impossible
But the rest of one or two week really helps.
Muscles needs rest
