Who knows a drill to kick the bag higher?
im looking for a drill to work the "twitch" reflex in my ankle to get the bag higher from lower to the ground. as i practice more i see that my knees get in the way and/or my foot is just too high off the ground for the next stall.
To avoid hitting your support knee try standing straighter and bringing the shoulders forward. Make contact with the bag more in front of you so the support knee is out of the flight path of the bag.
It is not the ankle that will set the footbag, but rather the bending and straightening of the support knee and lifting the heel of the stalling (or kicking) foot towards waist height. For both inside and toe surfaces the ankle stays in a strong position with kicking, and while cushioning/setting the bag for stalls.
To practice kicking the bag higher, work on following through with your kicks. Make contact with the bag and continue upwards a few inches with the kicking foot. Let the footbag fall lower to the ground before you kick it, and do a faster kick to compensate. Then you can give the bag as much height as you want.
Hope this helps.
