Let's say Trinity Bellwoods Park on the stage at 5 p.m. !!!
The park is on Dundas St. W., on the south side, a bit west of Bathurst St.
The circle happens in the pit, which is on the north side of the park (closer to Dundas).
Here's their website, there's a map on the bottom of the page: http://www.drummersinexile.com/
From U of T it's a bit of a walk, but not too bad. You can also take the subway/streetcar... Here's directions for both...
Walking directions from U of T:
-Walk west on College St. to Bathurst St.
-South on Bathurst to Dundas St. W.
-West on Dundas 'til you see the park on your left
-The pit is pretty close to there, just down the hill on the right of the baseball park and skating arena
Subway/streetcar directions from U of T:
-Get to either St. George, Queen's Park, or Museum station (the main stations on campus)
-Make sure you get a transfer at the station you pay your fare at (they are dispensed from a big red box)
-take the subway south to St. Patrick station
-go outside and using the transfer, take the 505 Dundas St. streetcar west
-a bit west of Bathurst, immediately west of Grace St., you'll see the park on your left
-get off anywhere along the park up until Crawford St. and walk south into the park
Any problems call my cell.
LOTS of people come to Drum Circle and a bunch will often jump in to kick with me, but usually only if I have someone playing with me already. But having said that, if the person playing with me is... well... you (meaning really good), they might not be so inclined to join. But whatever.
For the record, Drum Circle is the BEST thing that happens in Toronto!!!
Think Tam Tam, but at night, with more isolation, less people, and more comfort.
I mean Weed March is definitely the most epic thing here and it's still my Christmas, but this is like Weed March on a smaller scale, and instead of revolving around pot, it's about music, art, performance, and circus people!!! Everyone actually DOES things like drum, dance, juggle, poi, hula hoop, staff, firey anything, running around naked, and footbag! It's pretty much a community of freaks (good freaks) that get together to show off their individual talents. It's my heaven.
I also have a crapload of friends there so when I'm not kicking I'm basically bouncing between blankets of people... literally, many groups of people lie on blankets throughout the park and chill the fuck out.
I've only missed one this summer, due to rain, but gone to all the others that got poured on anyway. There are only 3 more before the outdoor drum circle season ends, so GET ON THIS!!! Next week's circle is at Cherry Beach!
As usual, I'm going to continue playing once it gets dark... now to fix up the busted stitch on my glow bag...
See ya there!!!
