Here's my review of my Quantum 3's. I'll start a list with the bad:

-They don't fit me. I bought the biggest size (13) and they don't fit me, which means they're not very true to their size. I usually wear about a 13-14 depending on the shoe, and in some shoes a 13 is almost too big for me. But whenever I wore insoles in my Quantums they pressed up against my toes too much, and were very uncomfortable to wear. I don't want to play without insoles either, because that's not very comfortable. I tried walking around in them, I tried wetting the material to make it stretch more, and I even tried using wooden shoe stretchers, but they just don't fit me.
-The inside surface isn't very good. It almost feels completely flat to me. When I switched from g-units to quantums, I initially thought that it was my fault for getting too used to the g-unit sole, but when I played in my friend's lavers today I was hitting loads of clipper moves that I rarely/never hit. I'm not saying that it needs to be huge or that it needs to be a tiny skateboard ramp, but for someone like me that doesn't have that much crank, a better inside would help. I feel like I can't do any clippers in them.
-LIES. The lacing holes tear the laces. Pretty badly. When I unlaced the shoes then relaced them for the first time so I could play in them, I nearly had a nervous breakdown feeling the ripping of the laces. Not only that, but the metal parts fall out (boy), which isn't a very good thing at all.

Now for the good:
-I liked the sole. Maybe I'm a minority because I haven't had the shoe long enough for it to crack like everyone says it does, but I found the sole to be very cushiony and comfy.
-The toe was pretty good. I'd say it could use a little improvement, but toe moves were pretty easy for me.


The reason I'm writing this now is because I'm probably going to sell my quantums and buy new lavers. Until quantums come in bigger sizes (or get the sizing right), or get a better inside surface, I'm probably not going to buy them again, and I feel like I need to get my voice out and address my problems so that one day someone can fix them and I can continue to support the effort. So there you have it, I hope this helps.

Regardless of how good they actually are, you don't really know until you've really played in them.

I personally love my Quantum 3s. I only play on carpet and the grip is good enough to not slip around, I like the material or thickness change or whatever they changed from the Quantum 2s and the only problem I've seen is two of the lace eyelets fell out but I just glued them back in and now they're fine.

Regardless of how good they actually are, you don't really know until you've really played in them.

I was really playing in them, but just the combination of the inside (and my poor crank) and the uncomfortability of not having the biggest size fit me even after numerous attempts of me trying to stretch them was a turn off for me, and made them not very fun to play in.

Needless to say, this is only my opinion, and what I felt was wrong with the shoe, and it won't apply for everybody so I don't want to try and justify all my reasonings. I just know that the people who make the quantums want feedback from everybody so they can continue on their quest to make the perfect footbag shoe.

I wear size 11 quantums.

I would hate them too if i had to wear size 10.

I noticed on the Quantum03s the toe flaps have been sewn in securely onto the toebox, on both corners. Meaning, you don't get the open gaps in the corner of the toebox like in the Rod Laver model after modding the toebox, or like in previous Quantum models in general. Maybe you should cut those so that you can relieve some tension on that area of the shoe.

As for the clipper issue, it can partially be because of the constriction of the toe, since you would need to bend your toes into a fist to comfortably get a decent clipper crank. The toe does seem more narrow than the previous Quantum models from what I can see. Are your toes feeling pretty jammed into the front of the shoe, Grant, or is it more of an up/down compressed feeling? Thinner insoles maybe?

I've been drilling inside stalls and clippers in them for awhile (just to go back and refine), and I'm doing the whole toe-fist thing, but it's still not enough for me when I'm doing harder clipper moves like whirls and stepping stuff.

It's not the narrowness of the toe that bothers me. I actually found toe moves to be very easy in these shoes, especially when compared to my g-units. But the problem is I'm pushing against the edge with my toes, and it's not comfortable at all. I usually wear 13s, but the sizing on these make them more of a 12 really. I've been messing with other shoes' insoles, and the best method I've found so far is to use the stock insoles from my g-units (which are pretty thin), but I'm still up against the edge. I can just take the insoles out, but it's not very comfortable for me, and if I play like that for a long time it feels like the bones in my legs are hollow, which is a weird and painful feeling.

i as well ordered size 13, and had all the same problems you did, except my feet didnt even fit into the shoe. i fit into size 13s of lavers and nastases, so it isnt me trying to fit into too small of a size, the shoe just wasnt true to size.

i had a friend of mine walk 13 miles in them, and the sole came unglued from the body of the shoe towards the back the first day. so stretching the shoe was out, it was falling apart.

the inside was really flat, and liek grant said, a little too much. the one time i did cram my foot in and tried a clipper, it wouldnt stay.

i ended up modding the shoes to crap trying to make them fit, but when they didnt after reemoving padding from the heel cup, insoles, and trimmng the toe box like waylon said, i ended up just tearing the shoe apart, literally, and gluing the q soles to socks for some coolfootbag slippers.

i wont buy them again either, unless there is a 14. and it better be a semi true 14, i dont want to waste another 90 dollars. id rather have 3 new footbag right now than a pile of shoe scraps in my trash.

also, the way the shoe was stitched together inside te shoe was far less in quality compared to yogan's size 10 shoe... his was uniform, clean and almost perfect... mine had stray threads, and just looked clearly homemade. idk, i was just.... sincerely disappointed i guess.

Typically the sizing for Quantum02s (which I assume is the same for Quantum03s as well) is that they are half a size larger than Lavers, although I think this is feasible to change for larger shoe sizes. This being said, I can understand that a size 13 Quantum won't fit for people who wear a size 13 Laver snug, but from what I've been reading from Grant's and Cale's posts it just sounds like a size 13 Quantum03 is representative of a size 12 Laver, which in a way is significantly much too small for people with size 13 feet in general.

Maybe the posts in the few Quantum threads that mention that the Quantum sizing is the same as the Laver sizing is misleading. I know I was a bit boggled when I read a few reviews that mentioned a snug fit without any change in sizing from transitioning so-&-so footbag shoe to the Quantum model.

Hopefully the sizing issue can be resolved, and more reviews on the size 13 Quantum03 model will be posted more in this topic.

$80+ for a pair of shoes and you have to glue the eyelets back in? I don't think that is right at all. What happend to the shoe ready to shred out of the box? Thats right it does start shredding right away!

Don't some people mod the eyelets out of their pair of Lavers, because of the fear of them rusting and tearing apart shoelaces? In my honest opinion, if I can remove the eyelets on my Quantums, I would do it, because the last two pairs of my Quantum02s had the eyelets rusting after about two sessions.

same thing happened to my eyelets... and the where toe box connects to the tongue it ripped halfway already and ive only worn them like 3 or 4 times =/

Just got my Quantum 03's in the mail yesterday. They are a bit tight, but definately wearable and I won't let that bias my review of them:

They look awesome, simple. I've actually had people at college comment on them and say they want a pair lol. The only dislike in terms of looks is that the 'quantum' should be the other way round so that when I do a clipper, people watching see it the right way up (but seriously, who cares.)

They are unbelievably light. Its pretty much like playing barefoot in terms of weight. Its just great.

They're uber soft and instantly shreddable as everyone knows.

Yeah pretty much run out of stuff to say. The black part of the side of the base of the shoe is peeling off, so you can see the white underneath it, and the corners of the hexagons on the sole are just falling off, so it is a little bit poorly made, however nothing to cause them to lose playing ability (however I have only had them a day).

Yeah I reckon everyone should get them unless they have feet that are too big or something.

And yes, they are a bit smaller than other shoes of the same size. Get half a size bigger if possible.

I havn't worn lavers in ages but I'm pretty sure these bad boys are lighter.

The money is going to the people who are working on better releases of shoes specific to footbag, not adidas.

The quality control must have been lacking on the production line for this shipment. I was at Deryl's house last week, and was able to hand pick a pair of black ones, I love them...

Super cush right away, only about a gram lighter, but you can totally feel it. The toe feels better, the inside surface feels great... The sole flexes nicely fresh out of the box...

The design is definitely an improvement, the problem is on the manufacturer...

When I can, i would love a 2nd pair though...

im wondering why people is still whining about the fact that the shoe is not as strong as lavers/g-unit. The builders of it dont have 5464314645655614216464616578656125364899.99 $ to make it. ITS NORMAL !!!! when you buy this shoe, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO KNOW IT !! because the builders dont hide it !

oh and btw, the sole will crack soon too, if you didnt know, thats another fact. deal with it

I completely loved my Quantum 2's once I got use to them. It took me at least a couple months to fully break them in and get use to them. Now I can't play the same in anything else. My only con with the quantums 2's was that they deteriorated very quickly and the sole just cracked apart. The inside surface area took the longest to get use to but I really dig it now plus they look cool. So I'm wondering what the differences between the 2's and 3's really are?

I'm with Will, except for on durability. My 2's have lasted longer than my first pair of lavers have now.
