Oops, I'm an ass for starting a new page

You're awesome, you're the only footbagger that has come to visit me in Tahoe... Plus I'm moving soon, so it'll probably remain that way

I love to see you working illusions!!

That third illusion was almost spot on. With a lower set, focus on getting your support leg back to the ground as soon as possible, and then keeping it on the ground during the dex.

It doesn't matter to me if you take the top post. I don't get why people always say sorry for that. Unless you are going to say something like "You're a bitch". Let's reserve that for the 2nd-20th posts on a page.

Where are you moving to, Chase? And thanks for the illusion advice! You're awesome too :)

I had a short 45 minute session today because my head wasn't really in it. But I think the two days off did me well. I was able to do a lot of things easier. My out>in ATW were more solid as were my flip butterflies and osi. Did a few back to back osi. Longest tiltless run was 10 contacts. I did take into account everyone's advice on illusions and they looked a lot better. Didn't hit it every time, but I at least got a clean dex on my strong side every time. I also has my first official BOP. In the right order and all.

My friend, Heather, drew this pic for me:

Age, I can totally see you as an anime character now. And imagining you showing off a lot of shoulder and cleavage as well. :P

Good to hear that your summer is going well. My energy levels have been dropping, but I'm trying to get better. NYFA now has this pretty cool scoring plan to get us motivated to get better. It's pretty wicked, and you should come to NYC to try it!

Hopefully we'll see each other at Funtastiks. I'm a bit muddled on when it starts and how to get there, but I hope to see you there soon.

Yeah my friend is a really good artist. She specializes in skanky anime drawings of her friends :)

Hour and 1/2 session today. Highlights:

Flipside dimwalk
Legover>parkwalk
butterfly>DLO
really close to hitting a Magellan
A couple decent tiltless runs
Couple more BOPs

I filmed some of it so I am going to try toying with making a video. Although I am having some trouble getting it onto my computer so we'll see.

Life has been pretty crazy lately. I started student teaching last week which has been keeping me really busy. It is pretty scary to think that soon I will be taking over the teaching responsibilities of a course. The school is a high school 10 minutes from my house. I am really fortunate to be so close. It is also the best school in the county which is great because the schools in my county are shit. My mentor teacher is nice and knows what she is doing, but we have different work styles which makes things kind of difficult. Yesterday was the first day for the students. By the end of the day I thought I was doomed because so many of the kids were terrible but they seemed a bit better today. Some of them turned out to be really cool.

As far as footbag, I haven't gotten to play much lately. Played with Ken and Matt on Sunday for like an hour. In my brand new quantums :) They are the black ones and look sooo sexy! Much better than lavers. They are also more comfy than lavers. They made me realize that I rely on toe walls too much. But it is ok because I need to get over that.

I am hella excited for Funtastiks this weekend. I can't believe it is the last one! It was they first tournament I ever went to, before I played or cared about footbag. It was also the first tournament I competed in. So many of my best memories are from them. It really is the end of an era.

I was thinking about not competing because I haven't been playing much or well, but I am going to because it is the last one. Doing doubles net with my big Papa again. That should be pretty comical because I haven't touched a net bag since last Funtastiks. And if you don't know about my dad, he is a 50 year old overweight smoker who never touches a footbag until 5 minutes before we play for a "warm up." The "warm up" consists of kicking the bag over the net a couple of times while smoking and trash talking the opposing team. Even though he never plays, he is naturally athletic which makes him not so bad at it. I also don't really have a routine ready. I am considering competing in ironman because I have always wanted to and this is my last chance. But there is a couple problems with that. 1) Even though I can get to 100, I can't do my concecs quickly and 2) I can't spike. But I am probably better than most people at golf. It is a little known fact but I am currently the reigning Pennsylvania state footbag golf champion. No joke. I won it last year, before I had a blog to brag about it :) But anyway, all that matters is that I have fun and there is no doubt that I will.

Age, great to hear about your student teaching. I wish you the best success in taming those nasty high schoolers into submission. :)

I's great to hear about your optimism toward this weekend's Funtastiks, especially concerning comp. When I went to my first Funtastiks 3 years ago, I always dreamt of wanting to compete in intermediate routines, but I never really trained myself properly with any one song. Seeing that this may be the last Funtastiks ever I doubt I will ever get that opportunity again, but I will be cheering you on!

Also, did you get my text message? About the lead shot? If you can, can you buy and bring a canister of the same lead shot that you use for your bags and bring it to Funtastiks? I'll gladly pay you for it. Hopefully that won't be too much to ask.

See you there! I'll be there sometime on Friday!

Long time no post. Life has been pretty crazy with grad school, student teaching, work at the gym, and trying to balance all that with a social life and footbag.

Funtastiks was a really good time, as always. Seeing Vince get inducted into the hall of fame was definitely one of the biggest highlights. He has done a lot for footbag and definitely deserves it. I ended up not competing in freestyle because I wasn't feeling so well that day and knew I wasn't going to have any fun, so there was no reason to do it. Although I did compete in doubles net with Dan "the Man" Johnson. We got third place and totally kicked ass. The only two teams that beat us each had a world champion on them (one team with Ted Fritsch and one with Jack Lentz, who are the intermediate doubles world champions). We beat Ken Somolinos and Ken David in the consolation match. It is really nice to say that I beat Ken Somolinos in something footbag and has given me something to tease him about everytime I see him :) I also competed in gold and ironman, which were both pretty fun. All in all it was a great weekend.

In other footbag news, I haven't been able to play too much but in my past couple sessions, I hot some good stuff. My last session I hit a flipside butterfly to pdx mirage. I also did strong side butterfly, reverse whirl, pdx mirage.

Today in my session with Ken, I added one more to that, hitting butterfly, reverse whirl, pdx mirage, osis. I was really excited to do 4 unique guiltless! All in all I played pretty well because I was really relaxed. But by the end I was feeling pretty crappy because I am kind of sick and the humidity was getting to me.

Ken played pretty well also. He did a double spinning mirage and DATW> double switchover>DATW>double switchover. He was really super excited about it so I didn't have the heart to tell him that the flip DATW was totally 'the'. :(

Oh, and most importantly come to the East Coast Footbag Championships and celebrate 25 years of kick ass east coast footbag! The DC All Stars have been working hard to make it happen and it is going to be a blast.

I love you too, boo. But sometimes you can be such a bama

No camera at the moment, dude

Had a super short session (30 min) in between my internship and class today. Mostly warm up stuff. Highlight was butterfly>pdx mirage>flip butterfly>flip pdx mirage. May not seem too interesting, but my flip butterfly and pdx mirage are really tough for me.

Might play again after class.

Way to go on strong butterfly>pdx mirage rpt on flip side. It sounds like you're working hard on those flips, good job. :-D Could I make a suggestion? For a certain amount of time (a session, a week, whatever you want) try always starting links like that with your flips. They're the tricks that need the most practice, and they'll get way more attention if you always start with them. Plus, after you hit your flip, the strong one is the easy one so you can relax knowing that you'll hit it.

And Adrienne, you know I can't take competition. You better tell Kyle to lay off talking to my girl for his own good.

The thought of Eric snapping his fingers in a z formation made me smile.

I love you all and I think there is enough of Big Mama Adrienne to go around. Emily, you know you will always be my #1 woman.

Ken told me that sessions don’t count unless I blog about it so here is goes:

I played for like 45 minutes in the gym before work. Nothing terribly interesting happened. Then I did a bit of leg weight lifting. I am trying to slim down my thighs a bit. No, I don't think I am fat. I am knock-kneed so my knees touch which means my thighs rub together. It is annoying and sometimes get in the way when doing certain tricks. The thought is that if they slim down a bit, they won't rub so much and it won't be as big a deal.

Tonight I played for like an hour and half. Took Emily’s advice and work on flipside stuff first. A lot of flip pixie, which actually isn’t too bad. I spent most of the time trying to hit tricks that are probably to hard for me, but I footed them all so that was pretty sweet. They were: torque, butterfly swirl, and something I don’t know what it is. It is like a stepping mirage. When I looked for it on Hackrifice, the mirage was done with the opposite leg that does the set, but I did it with them same leg that did the set (so set with my right foot, miraged with my right leg). I also did a squeeze for the first time.

East Coasts was a good time fun. Here are my highlights:
~ My father and I getting 5th place in doubles net. Instead of playing the consolation match, Dan the Man and I Indian leg wrestled for the title. He was no match for my thighs of steel.
~ Hitting what I believe was my longest tiltless run ever. I don’t really like to count, but I think it was between 25-30 contacts.
~Ken’s 3rd dropless routine. Enough said
~ Mike Toolan’s routine. The music was really beautiful and I thought his routine was very graceful and appropriate for the music.
~ Ledo’s pizza, Dual, girl talk with Rivka and Wii bowling at Vince’s house.
~ Errol’s “Bacon Treeâ€

-Hey! It sucks like I said that I couldn't make it out to when you started to kick with Steve and them. A free Flogging Molly concert and I just had to do so. :)

-That is cool that you are drilling the flipness, trust me I totally neglected that in my game. Thus I am totally suffering from the fact that my strong side is in fact toooooo strong :(. Keep drilling!

- If need be I can film myself snapping my fingers in a "z" formation.

-Last note, Ledo's pizza can me all that, but will be nothing and totally "the" compared to Steve's epic pizza.

That is a real pizza! REAL!!! Steve made!!! Drool before the greatness.

I miss Steve's pizza :(

A free Flogging Molly show was totally worth missing that session!

I got a camera today because I have to film myself teaching. But that also means I will be filming myself playing footbag! :)

Expect to see a DC All Stars vid sometime before the end of the year

In personal footbag news:

Unfortunately, it is hella dark and you can't see the bag except for a tiny bit at the end of the move. It's pretty much a shadow. But the point is, I hit it for the first time :) I know I shouldn't have planted, but I will work on that later.

Ken and I filmed a bunch in CP this weekend. We met up with Matt a bit later in the day to film even more on campus.

The bad news on this is I found out my editing software sucks ass. I don't know when I am going to be able to make the video I wanted, but hopefully I can figure something out soon.
