Kicked with Matt, Jake, Nils, Tyler and Aiden. Aiden took off early, but afterwards we all went to a Vietnamese restaurant (Trams) that I really like.
Nils suggested that we try the banana cake for dessert and I am glad that we did. It was comparable to a "thousand layer cake" that I that I was obsessed with when I was a boy (Thai dinner with my childhood idol, Mark Weingartner- my dad's friend the Hollywood special effects guy). Good memories were brought back. I still am that same child, and I still want to make special effects!

Anyway, that was a nice way to end the session.

I spent the morning putting together a site for steelcityfreestyle.com. I registered the domain name both for that and ibrill.com. So, you can probably guess that I am ready to for some serious business!

Now I am just waiting to hear back from the the domain supplier so that I can get back to work on these. It bothers me that Internet Explorer and is going to be such a PITA to troubleshoot from my macs, though I do have an ancient version of IE5 on my PowerMac. Hmm. Maybe that is all that I will need after all (or at least until I start scripting more advanced features, like I intend to do.)

Highlights:
*Lots of whirls
*Lots of leggy atomic stuff on one side, hippy on the other. Feeling stronger though!
*Twirl timing was not always on, but I still nailed a couple really strong ones, when I waited long enough to clear the dex
*Ripwalk to ducking whatever it was felt smooth and easy
*Dyno's were ready when I was
*Started throwing simple swirl in at very random times. Fun. Need the other one though.

Jake and Matt are both stepping their games up. It's fairly exciting because Jake has taken a couple fundamental concepts and demonstrated a slick, full integration of them on both sides, and had some smooth genuine moments today. He is also concentrating on a couple harder tricks (making them look effortless in the process) as well as at least one new cross-body component on one side. Matt is a snarling beast that apparently thrives on dominating stuff. I feel lucky to kick with these guys. To completely different but memorably grand styles.

It was great that Nils, Tyler and Aiden were there tonight. The two of them are coming along nicely, and it's great to have Aiden representing the in PGH.

Now where was Caleb? We have to kick sometime, man!

Kicked with Matt. Waylon bag has a hole in it already, which is a major downer. Good news is it's only on a weak orange panel, and there are few of them.

Matt is really good at footbag.

Highlights:
*First try: ducking clipper-whirl repeat-string-ducking bf-whirl-string-other side ducking bf-whirl
*swirl-dyno three times on one side, once on the other.
*inf.-swirl-inf.-swirl
*ripwalk-ducking clipper,repeat
*New move: Fairy butterfly
*Egg beater

I could barely walk after yesterdays session. Woke still feeling wretched. Kicked with Matt anyways.

So many swirls
toe-ss inf. - swirl bsos
quantum butterfly
fairy butterfly
6 ducking butterflies consecutively
one string with lots of whirls
some more swirls
some more aches and pains

Oh yeah, http://steelcityfreestyle.com is up and happening. Expect major changes in the near future.

The website is pretty sick Mr. Ill. Well done.

All we need now is the "win a date with matt beall section," and the traffic will instantly be of such volume that the site will crash in minutes!

It's awesome. The logo looks perfect on a computer screen too, nice and sharp.

Thanks for the kind words, Matt.
Tripp- what is you size? We'll see what we have available

Kicked with Matt. My lower back is still a little out of sorts.

Highlights:
*New link: osis-swirl, once on one side and about six or seven on the other
*Zooming clipper on my weak spinning side. At least twice. I believe once on the other side as well.
*Toe Blur-hand catch
hippy leg, bsos
*Whirls were strong on both sides.
*whirl-swirl, both sides
*Butterfly swirl bsos. Possibly the first try.

Kicked with Matt

We are both broken. He has two ailments, one of which occurred tonight. My lower back, or possibly my left hip has been whacked-out since Friday. I have not kicked since Sunday, but I have recently been biking everyday, commuting between work and two part-time jobs. Looks like I may be going to EC25 in Maryland to Judge and see my friends. If there is one thing about pain that I like, it's that it makes drinking so much more enjoyable.

Highlights:
Frozen osis on both sides
zooming gyro mirage, weak side gyro- first try
osis-swirl both sides (If I remember right)
pain
more pain
swirls look fine when I freeze the clipper first.

I think it's the act of trying to make my clippers frozen and sticky that is tearing apart my body. I hope that it is worth the investment

Oh yeah: hippy atom twice in one string on my weak hippy-side.

Just got back from East Coasts.

*The last three times I have seen Ken he done a dropless routine.
*Ted Finch is getting so much better. It was a real pleasure to watch him kick this weekend- both freestyle and net.
*Matt Toolan made it which was a real treat.
*Barrett is so much fun. Cracked me up constantly.
*Outsider made it. This is very important to me as he is I feel he is one of the most important contributors to this sport. When he wasn't escorting us all around he pushing the fabric of footbag more than most seem to dare.
*Tripp and his cousin made it. Good guys. Tripp's shuffle was one of my favorite things to watch. I can't imagine a less predictable style. Seriously.
*Drew is getting solid.
*Bruce's trophies were great. I'm really glad that I got to catch up with this old friend again. Judging with him worked really well.
*Bevier the man. Seriously. I'm not gonna get started on this.
*Dan Grier(sp?) kicked some major ass today all around. I really like his net game.
*Ken is a great host. Had a Blast hanging out with him, Gregg (cool mofo, and new NYFA member), Bruce and John S. I was undefeated at chess and checkers until Ken came along. I knew I couldn't afford a drink without the crutch of a blitz game. Allowed a bishop-rook exchange. Sigh.

Anyway, I'm really glad that I got to spend some time with old friends and newer ones. It was a real blast.

Personal highlights:
*Atomic dyno-better than decent string
*Twirl Bsos- better than decent string
*Swivel, first time, and wittnessed by M. Toolman and Tripp (to whom I swore I would hit the trick to a few months back)
*Reliable ripwalks on my left side
*Confidence in hippy atomic sets is getting higher
*Whirls were reliable.

Ken explained Motor(?): swirling, gyro scary monster. regardless of if this explanation is accurate, that move I was admiring has become de-mystified.

So glad I went :)

Kicked very briefly with Jake. Then kicked by myself for about two hours.
I should do this more often. It was not the most action-packed session, but it was certainly worth documenting.

When Jake was around he helped me school my stepping sets. He did not stick around or play much, as he was wearing some sort of long-shorts and was hungry. He gave me some good advice though. I could not tell if he was being unusually helpful or if I was being unusually receptive but some good key ideas came up. I am learning a new method of stepping on my weak side that made it much easier to hit ripwalks. Pretty soon I hope to hit blurry whirl. Possibly on both sides. I feel I may have kicked it already on one.

I also hit twirls again, both sides, first tries. Even though I was sore from installing at the gallery, mowing my lawn and then riding my bike out to Oakland to shred.

After Jake left I decided to stay. Shortly afterwards I kicked ripstein. Maybe an hour later sealed it with an osis. All in all I got my foot underneath it at least 5 times. I also kicked fear twice. It is so late now, and I am so tired and hungry.

Fuck it. I'm cooking.
