I just started stitching my own bags and was wondering if any pro stitches out there have some tips to share with a novice such as myself. I stitched my first bag today, and in my opinion it looks alright. It could improve loads though. Here is a picture of my first bag.
I used a template from http://patterns.phasing.org/ If anyone out there has a better template, please share it with the rest of us.
Any constructive criticism of my bag is greatly appreciated.
well, you're looking in the right forum, but you should have done a little research before asking for help just for you.
There are threads called "stitching tips / tutorials", "ask waylon anything about stitching", etc etc... threads with really obvious names. There's a bunch just on this first page of the Bags and Equipment forum alone, a few of which are at the top.
Read up on a bunch of that stuff. You'll definitely get a good impression of some things that you should do differently.
If you're going to post something asking for help, at least make it a specific question that you're pretty sure hasn't already asked because you ***did some searching first***.
Looks like you're off to a good start. I prefer larger hexes and / or smaller pents, proportionally. go for uniformity of stitching and gathering. If you want help just for you, keep posting those pictures, but do it in the Bags I've Made thread and you'll get lots of tips there.
