played today after work. mostly worked the same drills, although i seem to have some trouble with mirage > ss mirage > rpt. i always seem to go mirage > ss mirage > ss mirage and so on, i keep forgetting to put a mirage inbetween the ss mirages

anyways, after i did some mirage > legover > rpt work (same problem as above, always seem to do ss mirage instead of a mirage), ended up doing,
 mirage > legover > ss mirage > ss mirage > mirage > legover > drop :D 8)
which made me feel pretty awesome as i've only ever been doing drills and that came off the top of my head. i can already see this becoming severely addicting. making headway with clippers as well. hit clipper > clipper > clipper > clipper to a handcatch, felt WAY more controlled then they have ever before. my goal by friday next week is to get up to 10 alternating clippers.

My Red Wings are hurt! Lidstrom has a broken nose, Datsyuk has a hurt groin causing him to miss KEY practice time with the new guy Hossa, and Chelios broke his leg blocking a shot, which could mean he's done after this season. He's pushing 50 which is older then time in the NHL, in fact, most any physical sport at the pro level i would say. They best heal up quick and stay refrain from injuring themselves further or they could end up in a big hole before half the regular season is done with.

'nother session today. i tried illusion, up intil i kicked my leg a couple times in a row, so i decided to instead throw legovers into my drills to work on that type of motion, paid off, legovers are feeling really solid now.

mirage > legover > rpt a few times
atw > rev atw > legover > rpt
mirage > ss mirage > rpt took me a few tries but i actually hit it instead of just going into ss mirages

drilled clippers too, nothing much to report there. i think though that i need to work on getting more consistent sets. maybe i'll drill these first next time since i'm always kinda tired and sluggish when i get to clippers.

short session today. everything is coming along swimmingly. atws, mirages and legovers are feeling even more controlled and smooth each day. my clippers seemed off today, just couldn't seem to land more then 2 in a row any which way, though i did hit strong butterfly at the end when i was messing around. no dice on the flip.

I just bought a Michael Kelly Firefly Acoustic/Electric Bass, sunburst design. :D :D 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Not my first bass, but I had my eye on a acoustic/electric since my current Squire p-bass elec is kinda fubared. yeah, it still plays normal with out a amp, but it no longer works with a amp.

Woo sooooooooooo happy.

havent played the past couple of days, it's been rainy and cold outside. so i just stayed inside, watched videos, air shredded, and played my new bass almost continuously since i got it.

i need to find a a couple good indoor spots fast before it becomes unplayable outside.

played today since it wasn't raining and cold. more drilling. i think i'm going to stop working on my atw drills, i feel confident enough with that trick that i dont feel the need to drill it any more seriously then i have been. legovers feel slightly more solid every time i do them, which is awesome. mirages are also dialing in, flip slightly slower then strong but that just means i'll start my mirage drills on my flip.

clippers again kinda felt off again. not too worried bout it, went through this with atws and mirages.

wings play the toronto maple leafs on friday. they cleaned house in the preseason game 4-1. lets see if they can do it again with all the injuries they have right now. hmm, does FAT stand behind the leafs? WHERE YOU AT TORONTO?!?!

i went for a 2 and a half hour bike ride yesterday in and around minneapolis. think i'm going to start going for increasing longer bike rides to help get my ass back in some form of shape, and i figure it can only help my legs get stronger which would help with footbag. i really like the bike i have now (just a single speed but its very easy to just hop on and cruise), though i think i'm going to get some different handlebars.

played earlier today for a little bit. i'm feeling pretty good with my mirages and legovers now. they feel controlled and smooth, the dex motion doesn't feel awkward at all any more like it did when i first started. so i think i'm going to cut back on drilling those as intensely as i have, and now start to focus more intensely on clippers, pickups, and illusions. oh yeah, i had at least one highlight today
 paradox mirage (strong only though :? )
probally play again later today and try and hit it flip(gawts'da stay boaf sided meow)

was having trouble at work deciding whether i wanted to go on another bike ride today, or play footbag. it had stopped raining by the time i got off work so i decided to play since i went for a long ride over the weekend. warmed up with stretches, kicks, atw/mirage/legover drills for a short bit. then worked hardcore on my clippers. worked on consecutive ss clippers for a bit, then worked on clipper > clipper for awhile. things i'm happy with:

 strong ss clipper x8
 flip ss clipper x9
 clipper > clipper for i think 6 contacts was my highest, but i can hit 2/3 easily now(where just hitting clipper > clipper was super hard for me)
 :!: flip paradox mirage
:!:  :!: paradox mirage > op clipper > paradox mirage > handcatch at least twice

that last highlight i think can be written down as what got me addicted to footbag. it felt soooooooooooo cool.

...oh, i checked .org and looked up paradox just now to make sure i was hitting it right and it says for paradox theres no plant between the set and dex. if that's right i guess i just hit same leg mirage out of clipper? anyone care to enlighten me on whether paradox has no plant, or if a plant is ok?

Nice highlights Jack! As far as I know planting on paradox mirage doesn't really change it but I could be wrong. Either way, try hitting it without a plant next session.

played for awhile today. i wanted to keep playing but i got some bad shin splints(got them yesterday for the first time in a good while, stopped playing not too long after my legs started hurting) and so i stopped myself early. poked around the health subforum and will be a lot more conscious of my form from now on.

 pickup > pickup *challenge

thats about it for today. i wanted to work on paradox mirage, near mirages, near/far legovers but the shin splints cut it short.

short half hour session today (shins again). i worked on my clippers pretty hard, with emphasis on playing on my toes. noticed immediately that my sets were a lot better. hit mirage > legover > mirage > legover (challenge) couple times. worked on pickups. kicked myself in the shins (fucking ow) a few times trying illusions. worked on paradox mirages. good stuff.

ganna order some spenco insoles here in a minute. heard they help with the 'feels like the muscles are tearing off my shinebone'. i kinda wanna try playing in my quantums, buuuut i really like them, and i want another pair for walking around in before i dirty my current pair up from shred.

hope i get a chance to kick with people from the CIC over thanks giving. visiting family is cool and all, but i'd feel like i'd waste a chance if i don't kick with 'em down there. either way NYJ.

thats what she said.

played today a little. i was up in the air wether i wanted to play or go for a long bike ride. i rode yesterday with my roomate, but it was short (like a half hour) cause he didn't wanna go that far. i'm really diggin' jetting around on my bike. i'm kinda sad i'm getting into it so late in the year though, season's coming to a end.

oh yeah back to me playing today, nothing worth mentioning. i couldn't focus as much as i'd have liked to, and as a result, things felt off today. well, not everything, mirages are feeling awesome. erp, i did hit a strong side rake today, thats something new.

ugh, got a letter from the landlord today, about being like 9 days late on the rent check, resulting in a 96$ late fee. which i feel is incredibly bogus, the owner knows we got robbed, they know some of our money going to rent got taken, i just feel its kind of unfair given our situation. especially when it wasn't anything that we could have seen coming. i mean, yeah we probally shouldn't have had money just laying about the place, and we learned that lesson, the hard way. just feels to me like they're twisting the knife rather unneccesarily, we're already finanicially in the hole because we got robbed, the extra late charges isn't going to help either us or the landlord (well, i guess it helps the landlord, it just makes it harder for us to get our feet back on the ground). this whole situation made me kind of worried about NYJ, but, seeing as i was worried about not making being able to go to hackrifice 'cause of money problems, and that worked out(being able to fund the trip part of it anyways), i guess i shouldn't be so worried about it, it's still a good ways off.

good session today. was hitting 3 consecutive clippers pretty easy.

 mirage > pickup > mirage > pickup (tried to rpt but i dropped)

finished it off by hitting paradox mirage a few times both sides. think it's time for a bike ride maybe.

went for some longer bike rides monday and tuesday. trying to make the most out of what time is left before it gets really nasty out. anyways, i really abused my legs on those rides so i havent played for the past couple days, and won't for a couple more yet.

i should use my down time to find a few indoor spots to play during the winter. bet theres a few on campus.

i have yet to actually go look for a indoor spot to play. soooo lazy, need to get on that, been busy with halloween preparations(more on that later).

anyways, played today for the first time in a week. didn't play too long, like half an hour / 45 minutes or so. I bike from my place to my parents house on saturday for my dad's birthday, which was some 18 miles (roughly). absolutely killed my legs. legs weren't 100% today, but it was clear sky and sunny out (still cold though) so i felt i had to play while i had the chance. guess it kinda paid off

 mirage > pickup > mirage > pickup

almost rpted a few times, but i always dropped on the first mirage or so. drilled consec clippers for a good while, then tried some more paradox mirages. hit one with out planting the set/dexing leg, whats that called, symp?

oh yeah, so halloween. have you seen the Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou? if you haven't, go watch the movie, then read the rest of the post. for those who have, lookie what i goooooooooooooot!!!!

they're not the exact model of shoe used in the movie, close enough though, and they look hot.

That's the basic form for hitting pdx mirage.
If by symp you mean symposium (and not symple), then it's is granted when the setting leg and the dexing leg are different, and you don't put down your setting leg. that means that to make the dex, you need to hop with your dexing leg, do the dex and land on it, which makes the trick harder.

In this case, you set and dex with the same foot, and the other foot leaves the ground only towards the end of the dex, so there's no hopping dex and no additional difficulty.

But props on hitting pdx mirage! And on the mirage->pickup drill as well, that's not a trivial drill.

hmm, i see. well I guess i'll just worry about that kind of stuff when i get the basics of the basics down pat.

played today again, its nice out. more drill drill drill drill drilling. i tried to link mirage > ss mirage (rpt) with mirage > legover (rpt). got pretty close. worked on mirage > pickup stuffs. drilled consec clippers, progress seems really slow on that front. i think i'll drill same side consec clippers more and focus on really good sets, which should make consec clippers a little easier. had 1 highlight:

 symposium mirage both sides

i hit it more on my strong then on my flip, but i did hit it on my flip which felt huge to me ( trying my best to hit things both sides when i hit a new trick )

Looks like you are doing good.
Clippers for me were a problem. I learned the right first, and then later the left. Just experiment with everything, I find doing consecutive alternating clippers really helps, but also consecutive clippers on one leg really helps with control with the sets. Dont change you style to try to make it easier for your left leg. I did that, and it set me back, before I realized that I had to go back to my original style.
Good luck!!
