LaRAZA was the crash space in years past. Soooooo if you aren't staying at the hotel for extra days or making other arrangements...

i'm not sure yet, but i might be able to fit 5-6 people at my house before and after the event. I'll let people know once we get closer to the date, most likely in Nov.

OK, so i am confirmed. I'll be getting there on the 25th at 8:00 P.M, and leaving on the 30th at 6:00 A.M I was wondering if there was anybody willing to give me some crash space the two nights before the event starts.

I also need to someone with space left in their hotel room. So if you can give me space, that would be awesome.

This will be my first time traveling alone, can't wait.

I was talking with Cassy (Ontario allstar shredita #1) tonight and we agreed to make it out to NYJ, also, Jay will somehow be in this too.

Maybe we can cram in a Jorden and/or a Johnny, whee!

My god, 600$ for a one and a half hour flight to Chicago... blah. Will be checking prices, I refuse to get ripped off like this... though it's worth it for NYJ, of course.

Maybe I can connive my work to paying my flight there? Questions needing answers...

hey, i was just wondering if the Hyatt Regency hotel is going to be giving room discounts this year. I also have to find someone to bunk with, my parents are getting on my case about that. So if anyone's still got room in their room for me, that would be great, i can help pay for costs.

Official Announcment of 2008 NYJ

Post by enlightener »

Hi Everyone!

The Dates ARE now Official...

10AM to 4PM All 3 Days at McCormick Place Site

New Year's Jam - Midwest - December 27-29, 2008
-Saturday, Sunday and Monday
-10 to 4, All three days
-Free to All Spectators!
-Rooms at the Hyatt (not a requirement), usually $300+, only $83
(See details below.)

Come out and shred with us!
-Freestyle
-Four-Square
-Two-Square
-Footbag Net Demonstrations

Our primary focus is to reach out to specators! We need to staff a booth
that is dedicated to the footbag experience. Our demonstrations are a
time-structured event with 15-minute footbag demonstrations running on the
hour and an interactive area where kids learn to play footbag.

We are looking for volunteers to help with teaching the interested spectators
how to play footbag.

We would like our expert players to prepare a 15-minute footbag demo that they
will perform on our stage as a part of the event.

This event is free for spectators, but in order to give out a footbag to
each of the spectators that try the sport we are trying to raise money to
purchase footbags to give away over the weekend.

We are asking a voluntary donation of $10 or more from each player, and if you
know anyone who would like to donate over $100 to go directly to providing
footbags for each participant, we can arrange donations to be tax-deductible through IFPA.

This year's event takes place at McCormick Place in Chicago (as a part
of "Holiday Sports Festival"), Illinois on December 27-29.

The Holiday Sports Fest is an event designed to introduce all kinds of
sports to the general public, and each sport has an interactive area where
kids can try them out. Some sports also have major tournaments going on,
such as Volleyball, Soccer and 3-on-3 Basketball (and now, Footbag).

With Free Admission and discounted parking for the event, this is a great event
to bring the family to.

I want to thank the generous sponsors who I anticipate will be on board
this year: Freedom Footbags and Foot-C Net. Regardless of whether they
sponsor the event, we are greatful that they have shown such consistent
support of the sport of footbag over the years, and I believe they deserve
such recognition.

EVENT SCHEDULE:
-Friday: Sick 1, Sick 3
-Saturday: 4 Square, Circle Competition
Novice Tricks & Consecutives Challenge
-Sunday: Rippin' Run

Hotel Info:

HYATT REGENCY McCORMICK PLACE
2233 S. Martin L. King Dr.
Chicago, IL 60616-9985

Connected to the event site through tunnels, this hotel is an AWESOME deal
for only $83 a night! Be sure to tell them you are with the "Mayor's Holiday
Sports Festival". Last year, there were rooms available at the last minute,
but no guarantees on that... so call them direct NOW at:

Tel: +1 312 567 1234 and ask for Reservations. Be sure to identify yourself as someone making reservations for the Holiday Sports Festival to get the super-low rate!

contact me directly.

See ya there!

So there is stuff scheduled on Friday (the 26th)?

There is no way I can be there on Christmas, and I doubt anyone else can either, so what time do you think that the two scheduled events will begin, or could they be pushed to saturday/sunday?

That info Scott posted is a little recycled from last year so don't pay attention to all of that post. This event is saturday-sunday-monday. Friday is the day after Xmas and too close to start the event. So we're stuck with having the 3rd day on a monday.

That's not how I've seen the event list. I'll email you Scott, and let you know all the new info I'm thinking about.

Events
I want to keep it simple and not have many events. The main events will be Circle and 2-square.
Circle will be held on Day 1 SATURDAY.
4 square will be played but the tournament will be in 2-square.
etc.
I'll update this on the first post when we nail it down.

Scott is the venue master: for volunteering or donating some cash to give out cheapy footbags to kids, talk to him. Volunteering has worked out to be whoever's near the entrances and sees interested people then they talk to them. But it is important to do that.

Also there have been opportunities to be on stage or on tv. Talk to Scott for this.
