This IS for reviews of commonly available beers.
I'll start with two beers I would have never guessed would be on my list of drinkable beers:
- Bud Select - I'm NOT NOT NOT a Buweiser guy traditionally. But I learned that Bud Select is same calories and carbs as Miller Lite or Coors Lite, so I tried it. It's closest to Yuenging Lager in taste, but light enough to drink all night without feeling heavey. Therefore, this is my usual beer right now if I don't feel like drinking solely for taste. As with any regular commercial beer, you have to really pound some to get loaded.
- Bud American Ale - Since Bud Select has treated me right, I bought a case of this tonight to try it. It's new as of September 2008. I'm a huge hoppy beer fan (think Victory Hop Devil) so I was wondering what I'd get. It's actually not bad. Way less "in your face" than Victory or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (etc.) but it has some hop overtones, and it's just light enough that I think it could be your only beer for a weekend (as compared to buying something really tasty where I often also buy something lighter for when I get too full). Edit: Calories = 150, ABV over 5%. Not bad for a mass produced selection. I honestly think I'll get another case at some point.

Beer that everyone likes that I can't drink:
- Yuengling Lager - or anything from their line actually. Though the taste is fine (though I don't rave as has become popular to do for some reason) it's not great. And not to be graphic, but something about their line makes my gut die for days afterwards. Really, every time. I dunno. I avoid it.

"Olde Bongwater Hemp Porter" from The Kettlehouse Brewery in Missoula, MT (It's commonly available if you live in Montana 
) is by far my favorite beer. It has a unique taste as it's filtered through hemp. Once I took my first drink, I was hooked. It's a little dark, a little thick and makes you feel REAL hot.

Also as of late, I've been drinking Beck's Dark. At the nearest store (Fred Meyer) they're only $1.99 for a 24 ounce. Great deal for a good tasting beer. It's has some sort of bittersweet syrup aftertaste, but I like it.
Honestly, I would never buy Budweiser. It's like buying the Top Ramen of beer. Sure it will do the trick but damn it's not that great. It's mostly likely just supporting rich assholes who don't care about their beer and only want to make more money. To each his own.

Without talking about caramel fudge and hop finishes, I'd say it's a strong, dark, full bodied beer, probably not to most people's tastes, but interesting none the less.-

Yuengling is awesome I dunno how you could not like it. I've never seen it here on the West though.
I've seen commercial's for the Bud American Ale and was kind of intrigued actually. I only drink liquor these days though on special occasion's beer doesn't do anything for me.
Slowsis: Milkwaukee's Best Lite is the worst beer on the face of the planet, followed closely by Milwaukee's Best Ice. They sell the shit in a 40 ounce ftw

yuengling is pretty much my staple beer, replacing Saranac a few years ago... small drop in taste, big drop in price, parallel (or arguably superior) drinkability, and increased availability over Saranac.
I would love to try an Olde Bongwater hemp beer. that just sounds great.
any wheat beer fans here? I love it, especially the ones with a light berry flavor. They go down smooth, they taste great, and they're crisp in your mouth as you drink them. Our local brewpub (ellicottville brewing company) makes a blueberry wheat beer which is pretty much the only thing I drink there.
as for footbag-only beer, Hacky Sack Jack used to brew a mean maple syrup porter. I've only had the privilege of drinking 2 or 3 of them ever, but DAMN they were good!!

Yeah, I wish Yuengling could be my staple, as it certainly was for YEARS back in the day. In college, you could buy a LARGE pitcher of Y. Lager for $4.75. Yikes, no wonder we were drunk all the time. But sadly, my stomach just can't do it on a regular basis for some reason.

I'd characterize it this way: If you're having a party where a decent chunk of people "think" they like tastier beers, but you really know that they're not going to be able to handle Magic Hat, Dog fish head, Trogues (etc.) get a case of this, and back it up with a case of something light for when they all start getting full and wanting to drink piss water beer. Basically, I wouldn't buy it again really. I mean, it was OK, but for the extra 50 calories, it didn't have enough of the taste I was looking for to make it worth it, and it's not good enough to have around as your 2nd case of beer.

This time of year, I like to get my hands on a pumpkin spice beer. Something about the fall weather. Anyone try one lately that I might be able to find at the local beer distributor?

Edit: Maybe I should clarify how I drink. I generally have 2 cases of beer lying around. 1 case is designed for volume drinking in a calorie-conscious way (i.e. bud select), and is intended to be light enough that my wife and her mom or sisters would like them. I can't be a Coors or Miller light guy, so bud select is a happy medium. The 2nd case is usually something more obscure and tastier. I call it my "night starter" case. Since I've lost about 40-45 pounds, it doesn't make sense to drink 300 calorie beers all night long. Instead, I start with something tasty, and switch after a couple.
