In case anybody is living under a rock or something, today is super-important. If you are over 18, get out there and vote. Keep in mind most polling stations close between 7-9 pm, and you can be in line for a long time, so bring an iPod or a book. But go vote!

I'm really happy about the presidential results.

I'm really unhappy that Prop 4 and Prop 8 passed in California.

Prop 4 makes it so that girls who are 17 and younger must now have a parent, legal guardian grandparent or sibling notified before the girl can get an abortion. Then she has to wait 48 hours before the procedure can be done.

Prop 8 bans to right to same-sex marriage in California, which had previously been legal.

Come on California, this is ridiculous.

Black people 30-70 years old passed prop 8. We have a black president now, people can be dream bigger now, and they chose to be bigots in the voting booth.

Agree with the first part. I'm still worried about the second coming true, too, but so far the Secret Service has kept him safe.

But at the same time, everyone who has supported Obama has to take off the party blinders (hope goggles?) and hold him accountable if he starts fucking up.

We've all seen what blind loyalty can enable.

I dunno if the insinuation is that the people who voted against prop 8's are bigots all the time or just when the issue is put before them in a voting booth, but I'd say either is pretty harsh.

Prop 4 is just kind of strange. What was the argued reasoning for the 48 hour period?

I think on this point people are underestimating how long a leash American's might give Obama as far as his ability to blame the situation on Bush. Not that this will spill over until 4 years from now, but he definitely will be able to keep that in his pocket for atleast a couple years in my opinion. A lot of it will depend on how he handles himself in the first 6 months or so. Part of it also depends on American's ability to their own rsponsibility in the failures of the last 8 years (And looonger).

As far as someone killing him, I don't see it happening.
