Thats such a funny coincidence, as I just bought a six-pack of Tasmanian beer the other day -- James Boag Lager. Of course it totally made me think of you. Its like some kind of cosmic cultural exchange!

The lager is very good, by the way, but I suspect it must be really outstanding when its fresh from the tap. Have fun with the flag, and try not to spill too much beer on it.

. It is a good beer too. Interestingly (or perhaps not), there are two main brewers in Tasmania - Boags in the North and Cascade in the South. Tasmania is pretty much divided into two halves (nobody lives in the middle) and there is a lot of disagreement between the two sides about everything (but most significantly politics). Many people in the South won't drink Boags and complain that it tastes like piss etc. Likewise many people in the North won't drink cascade. Both groups claim that their beer is the best in the world (and have some hilarious "evidence" for their causes). I grew up in the North but live in the South, but also am fundamentally opposed to ideology and make my own decisions on beer independent to where it's from. With that in mind, I like all beer, and think the two main beers from Boags are better than the two main ones from Cascade (draught and premium lager) but that Cascade makes a lot of better other beers (Blonde, Green, etc.). I am interested to see how patriotic people are about beer though.

In other news, the Subway marketing people for the commercial Dan, Dyalan and I are going to be in really didn't like the above photo. They asked me for a photo for their casting or something, and than rang me up and left an angry message on my phone almost as soon as I sent it asking for another without a cigar. Apparently Subway don't like cigars. I call boycott.

. It worked out ok though. I'd be pretty confident that they wouldn't drop from the ad for something like that. If I were dealing with Americans I probably wouldn't have used that picture.

Well of course that's always a possibility, but that's not what people told me. Instead they said things like; "You're the fucking terrorists." Then, when they discovered I was Australian they would say; "Why are you wearing a flag that represents oppression and terrorism around the world?" A number of people tried to burn it because "I fucken' hate America" and a couple of other people wore it at times and received similar reactions. Everybody loved the Obama shirt though, which is pretty interesting.
