Was 16. In high school my friends were playing hack with a juggling ball they won (ticket prize games) at the arcade. I was playing with them but I really sucked. First few hacks we used were juggling ball type. After that I got a crochet hack and started learning basic moves - jesters, butterfly kick, toe stalls etc. Played every day and then come 2001 ( when I was 18 ) got more into footbag and freestyle and in 2002 I think got a 32 pannel bag

i played in grade 7 when everyone else was playing. i was like 11. they would play like every day at lunch (pellet, kill, numbers -- those games) and at spares. and in the morning before classes started. at one point i fell in love and i left home early so i was at school by like 6 or 7 every morning. i was good friends with the janitors son. and he was always there early. sometimes i arrived before them and had to sit outside cause the school wasnt open yet.
at my birthday i got two hacks. a crocheted. it was like brown and green? with some patterns on it. the duck sounds familiar..someone mentioned that i think. a yellow duck. all the way around. like a bunch of them. and then i got a sipa sipa. like the exact one on worldfootbag.com or whatever. with the huge beads.
then like a year later i lost my brown and green bag and i was buying clothes with my mom and i begged her to buy me a new one. cause they were selling them in a jar at warehouse one. i still have that one. and the sipa sipa. the new crocheted one was like pink and yellow. there are like no beads in it now. i love crocheted bags (do i spell that right?) theyre so much fun to play with now!! my brothers friend wants to learn. so they were playing in my basement lair the other day and they left their bag there. and when i went down for my session i hit a bunch of 5s with it
so fun!!
oh yeah. and then about grade 10 i saw that shes all that movie. and looked up footbag. and then watched videos of ryan from worlds 99 on footbag.org in computer class all the time. looked up the clubs. and posted a note in the hackrifice guestbook. and then joel phoned me the next weekend (prolly from my footbag.org info??) and asked me to come out and if i could do an "around the world" and stuff. (i couldnt). and then i met mark who was hitting 3 add moves!!!!!!
and then i met dan klokow and zeke ibardaloza in grade 12 on a band tour of the east coast. and by that point i could SOMETIMES do mirage. and SOMETIMES butterfly. i think i hit mirage twice in a row ALMOST for the first time that day. or something. oh yeah. and scott davidson stopped in for a jam on his way back to chicago from worlds in vancouver (2000?) and i met him!! and he signed karl bohns laver. and thats where i got the idea to make all freestylers i meet sign my shoes
yip.
10 years later....i am OLD..
(and bored -- i should go work on my video now..)
EDIT: oh yeah. and back in highschool. like grade 10. or whatever. me and this guy i played with, ben, printed off the footbag.org moves list and we tried to learn every move. and basically we were scared of all 3s. and we were super stoked when we'd hit one (but i dont know if we ever did?..) i remember looking at the description for eggbeater and just flipping out. like -- how is that POSSIBLE??? -- and then we would look at like the 7 adds and just laugh...)
EDIT2: i closed perenthesis on my edit. but never even opened them!!

I hacked all the time on and off from when I was 6 or 7 till I was like 12. Then in 7th grade some kid started playing a lot, so I started bringing mine (a Sandmaster) to school every day because I wanted to show him up. After that we played all the time at school. I was like so much better than everybody there. I could consec up to like 120-something, and I could do toe stalls and inside stalls. For a while my best move was something like a clipper, only the stalling foot was on the ground, then I 'made up' a flapper stall and hit it a few times and thought I was the shit... then I found footbag.org a couple weeks later...
Yeah...
Met Daryl, Chris, and Kyle (and Sunny) about a week later....
Now I'm here, 6 months later, a lot worse now then I should be, because I hardly ever kick anymore
