Confirmed!
I'm in! I just bought a flight, arriving at 5:30 at O'Hare. I'm going to stay the week and celebrate New Year's Eve in the city. I have some non footbag friends I'll be visiting, but the crash space details are still uncertain. During the event, I'm totally up for getting an onsite hotel room, and if someone wants to room with me and cut down costs, I'm all about that. In fact, if there's a room in progress that's inclined to include me to cut costs even further, I'm even more about that. So PM me if you want to room with me or if you'll let me in your room.
After the shindig, if there are any locals who'd be keen to put me up, I would be most thankful, offering to buy some beer, to cook a meal, to clean your toes, my first born, etc. I may wind up not needing the offer, but I'd be remiss not to explore all possibilities.
However my lodging goes down, this is sure to be a totally sweet event. Color me stoked.
Oh, this might not be the place to ask, but is there going to be any net action going on?
Man, I love footbag.

I know I haven't given detailed posts about my travel plans for NYJ, but I do know that I want to go and that it's about 75%. Ted needs to figure out the ride situation, and we're still unclear how many people in our club wants to go. But I'll try to relay everything to you guys around December 2nd-3rd.
This is a broad estimate, but does anyone have room to accomodate 2-3 people? I don't snore!!

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

going to NYJ
Hey everybody,
I will be at NYJ this year, trying to not miss any of the fun I missed last year.
I haven't practice my four squares skills in a while so I'll be looking forward for that.
And,
Did I hear Net?
also,
it looks like montrealers are driving down to chicago with two cars.
if you are on the way from Montreal to Chicago and in need of a ride, we still have some places left...

Erik,
I called last night and here are the rates for the 27th and 28th:
DD (two double beds): $89+tax per night
K (one king bed): $89+tax per night
A DD with 4 people for both nights with tax: $205.30
Rollaways are no extra charge, but you have to order it right now.
A fridge is $25 for the whole stay (no matter how many nights you're there).

Wow, I am excited about all the people that are coming.
Looks like room reservations are coming together. Make sure you know where you're staying & do what you need to do...
Re: money - it really depends on what you want to do while you are here but my suggestion is $150 - $200 spending money for three days. Somebody is probably reading this right now and thinking "that is way more than what I spent" - it really depends on what you plan on doing. Just don't be that guy that stiffs all his friends and is resented.
Food - just like previous years, we get dinner as a group & all are welcome to join. We do Potbelly's Sandwiches one night, Giordano's Pizza another night, and then eat out in Chinatown on the last night. I'd budget $30 - 35 for the three dinners + at least $20 grocery money for your other food. That's an estimate for just the three days of the event.
Shirts, bags, etc. - depends on what you want to buy. Off the top of my head aren't most items between $25 & $30? A little more for some stuff. I'll probably spend up to $100 on merchandise at the event but I'm planning on getting a couple bags, an event shirt, and maybe something else.
Other stuff - cab fare, bus/train fare, money for an extended stay (New Year's Eve party cover charges), parking costs, parking tickets... bail for public indecency charges, legal fees, etc... it can all add up.
