I havent posted in my blog in a long time, so here goes it.
Ive got back into shredding, and im playing really hard. Im also In school for a Bachelor's of science in kinesiology now and im loving every bit of it. Im learning alot about the body, and what to do about injuries I obtain in footbag and what to do about them and its really paying off. my shin splints are going away, Im able to play longer and harder because of a change in nutrition, and im beginning to understand the simple things someone can do to better them selves physically.
Im better than I ever have been single trick wise, and almost string wise. Im getting to the point were i have fairy, atomic, pixie, quantum, and ducking sets both sides, and strongly. my flip whirls showed up out of know where and if you know me, you would know thats the weakest concept of my game. Joshua M. gave me a little advice that i never really thought of doing and bam, not only was flip whirl hit like 1st try every time, but i was hitting it out of ripwalk, dimwalk, fairybeater, leg beater, and a few other tricks. of course I made sure to do this on both sides. I was able to hit half of rubberman on both sides, first try, but couldnt manage to put them together. oh well, I know ive hit rubberman several times so it will come back eventually, I just have to work on it.another concept that bugs the living crap out of me is spinning. I would love to have spinning down. Josh M. gave me some advice on this as well but I didnt really work on spinning this session. It just makes me so dizzy trying to do it, on both sides, which I know means Im doing it wrong, but hopefully the adive givin to me today clears that up a bit. I should have drilled double downs today, because i was able to hit barfly b2b the other day no problem. but oh well I cant fit everything into a sesh all of the time I guess.
I was asked by a couple people as to why I had stopped playing a few months ago, and it was simply because I have no one to play with down here in mormonville. In Idaho I guess the reason I always wanted to play was because I basically lived in a shred house with Jim penske and my bro, so we always played.I contribute my coming back to the game to my medical classes honestly. muscle movements, how they get the energy to move, and how that energy is used was just so interesting to me. I had an assignment where i was to workout and to take note of what muscles were being isolated in what plane of motion. first thing I thought of was footbag, so I picked my old nick landes bag up and started playing. I noticed even though I havent played in 5+ months i was still able to hit almost everything I could before and this surprised me. I also noticed that my string length had gone WAY down, but that was to be expected, so it didnt really bother me. after I had finished my small assigment I had realized that I had just had fun playing footbag alone again. and ever since then every time I pick up the bag its fun to me again.
in 2 weeks my classes get over and im heading to Boise to chill and shred for a couple weeks with the crew, which should be fun. magically without knowing Im arriving in Boise at roughly the same time Jay boychuk is. which wasnt planned at all. It will be good to kick with him again. I was thinking about working on a routine for worlds, but then decided I really didnt want to compete at all. I know its good for me and all, to get the experience and what not, so ill probably compete in circles or something, but I probably wont be putting a routine together. this will be my first worlds Ive ever been to. shred isnt even at the top of my list of things I want to do there. I really mainly want to go for the fact that I will most likely meet alot of the players Ive wanted to meet for a long time now. Ive also never been to cali so Im pretty excited for that as well. this may be the longest blog post Ive ever typed but, maybe Ill make a habit out of something like this.
ok so enough blah blah blah, highlights for some of my last few sessions:
flip whirl and strong whirl out of dimwalk, fairybeater, ripwalk, and legbeater - not a big deal for most, but if youve known me for long, youd know im mostly a toe player
atomsmasher x 7 the other day
alpine fairy beater > pdx whirl
phoenix > pdx whirl
fairy ducking whirl
12 tripless the other day(dimwalk > blur > legbeater > ripwalk >ripwalk > pdx whirl >ducking butter > blur > atomsmasher > legbeater > blur > atomsmasher> pixie whirl (drop)
thats my best yet I think.
fairy barrage
atomic barrage
atomic whirl
atomic simp mirage bs
ps whirl
what annoys me is that all of the " whirl " tricks were almost all one sided, except for my first highlight
thats all I can really think of for now. Until next time fizzied
Your next task: Go to the bathroom.
Wash your face.
Put your shoulders hunched upwards.
Look really, really slowly upwards towards the mirror like in the movies
And slap yourself in the face.
With your game face on.
And go shred with jim.
It'll work, trust me.
